I found this video massively helpful. My workflow isn't for fashion/model photography, but still I learnt a lot. It's the retouching that makes it tricky to figure out the workflow, and how much to do before bringing into photoshop. Learning that there is a camera raw smart filter changed my world. My experience is in non-destructive video editing and animation (AE), so I'm still always learning how to think differently when it comes to Photoshop.
Thank you for your videos. You have the best tutorials on RUclips for retouching, and they have helped me immensely; so much so that I am even leaving a comment, which I usually never do, but you are that awesome :)
such good stuff, thank you for sharing Michael! For anyone watching this I highly highly recommend the tutorials he refers to during this demo. Super educator!
Thank you Michael. Great tutorial as always. I love seeing how you have progressed over the years since I've been following you. By the way, your RA D&B tutorial is the best!
Thanks for sharing your workflow! Two quick questions. Do you have another tutorial that goes into details of creating the help layers or have the help layers available for download? Also, I liked how you created a smart object at the end. How do you merge all layers into one smart object? Thanks again, I love your work and really appreciate you sharing your knowledge!
Thanks for sharing. I just learned a lot from your rggedu guide. So you have changed your retouching process and you dont use FS anymore? Cheers from Munich, Germany
Hi Michael, great video again, it leaves me with a doubt though... In one of your videos "Natural Outdoor Portrait Retouching in PS" you explain a lot about FS and you comment very positive about it, and recommend it as the best way to approach skin retouching... Now in this video, you say FS is destructive, and all you do now is DB... Can you explain me this? has something changed or evolved? I just want to know which method you consider to be the best nowadays... Thanks again for your awesome videos!
Would be nice if you would have mention what color space ? (AdobeRGB1998) are you using in Capture on export and what your Photoshop color settings are. Yours looks like the image in Capture was the same exact as Photoshop but my varies a little. In photoshop it is slightly less saturated and less contrast? Could you tell what color space you used in both? Thanks!!
I find that when I open an image in photoshop it has extra sharpening on - the only way to stop this is to use 'edit with' within C1P9 ana switch off sharpening - is there a good way to export a NEF RAW image that has been worked on in C1P9 into PS.

yes keep them coming! love seeing tutorials involving fashion, which is rare to find
The way you do the contour is amazing
Loved that last tip on Duplicate => save to new man... It was like a halleluja moment.. Thank a lot!

This "highlight" layer effect looks great, what is it exactly ?

Times change. Local dodge and burn is the best for the natural look. Frequency is better for time and if you want unnaturally smooth looking skin

Haven`t seen you for a long time, thanks again for your amazing videos, I learned a lot from you. Hope to see your next video!
Awesome as always, thanks for sharing !!!
i´m your fan, Michael, you rock!
Do You prefer using CaptureOne 8 engine? I've found 9 engine looks more like "Lightroom-like-effect" when large amount of contrast added...
Awesome as always!
Hey Michael. Just a heads up your D&B link doesn't work in the description. Keep up the good work, solid vid!
Are you not familiar with ACR? At the start you made it seem like you were unaware white balance can be adjusted in PS

Cool Video! Thanks a lot 👍🏻
Great video! Thanks so much. Can you do a video about alienskin? It's the first time I'm hearing about it, thanks!
Thanks :-) You are the best.
in Capture One...what is the difference between using the "exposure" slider and the "brightness" slider?...thanks...
Exposure is more global and brightness is more targeted towards highlights
Michael why You have polish name? Are You from Poland? ;)
thank you master
Looks like a FS is no more in use by professional retouchers, only DB and healing brushes. Wonder why? Ppl tired of that plastic faces?
if you are not getting paid to promote Capture One you should be because you just sold it to me with the first part of this video.
