"Forbidden Planet" deserves much more than an honourable mention ... it is groundbreaking for it's time e.g. no flame spewing rocket engines, no "battle between right and wrong", etc.
Surprised Forbidden Planet only got an honorable mention in Part 2. It was the first big budget sci-fi movie, actors were coached to take it seriously, big name stars... lots of firsts that showed potential for revenue and set a precedence for Star Trek, 2001, etc.
I agree but my theme was 60s, 70s and 80s. Forbidden planet was made in 1956. The last two, though pre 1960 were both fabulous films and needed to be mentioned!
I'm with a lot of the people here. How is it that two of the best films are only given honorable mentions? You must have entered your list backwards! Actually, it is backwards or, upside down, compared to how many of us see these movies. OK. Escape from NY should be near the bottom no matter which way it goes but, that's the exception. LOL Really! Forbidden Planet and When Worlds Collide are two of the most amazing and influential sci-fi movies of all time, bar none! Maybe you should do this over again. Now I want to go back and watch most of these again. I know how I'm spending my next weekend! LOL
I agree, they are among the best, ground breaking films.(Forbidden Planet & When Worlds Collide) They only got an honorable mention because the theme is sci fi in the 60s, 70s and 80s. They were both made in the 50s. I don't rank the clips but just randomly put them in. (if I did the lists would be much different!) There are so many (good and bad) films from these decades that they just had to be split up. Keep your eyes out for more, volume 4 just came out and 5 & 6 are in the works! Thanks for watching.
When the ship went through the meteorite storm and the poor robot was knocked clean out into space and they only found its foot - that was my low point.
Remembering fondly when Kurt Russell was hot AF. I’m talkin’ Snake Plissken. On a side note, as the NYC housing market continues to collapse due to corrupt municipal leadership and COVID, it truly is an, “Escape From New York.”
No Klaatu Barada Nikto?! Then the robot Gort will destroy you, your video, and the planet Earth! This iconic quotation originated from the 1951 science fiction film "The Day the Earth Stood Still.". Damn! I must flee the Earth immediately, kidnap my beloved beautiful blond-haired woman Barbara Eden style "Jeannie" and fly a small plane Stinson 108 to escape from the hell of the Earth inferno. The flying saucer abducts us by using a tractor beam to pull our small plane into the flying saucer. They take us to the warring planet Metaluna. That is the 1955 science fiction film "The Island Earth". These two science fiction films of the 1950s were one of most memories of the sci-fiction films of all times. That is all your fault because you completely abandon the face-saving iconic words "Klaatu Barada Nikto" to save humanity. Holy Earth Inferno Nightmare, Batman!
Monsters of the ID. Forbidden Planet best SciFi classic of all time. Does anyone else believe we are headed to Silent Running with coorporate America controlling everything?
It's honorable mention only because it is outside the time-span of 60s, 70s and 80s. Forbidden Planet is a far better sci-fi than some though, that is for sure!
@@3Brew - sorry, I actually thought that it was made in 1960. I went back and saw the release date. Oh well, I guess the decision along with "When Planets Collide" was the right one.
3Brew Entertainment - I didn't mind the main idea to split up the clips it was just the sudden noise which I couldn't take, but I must add that your videos are THE BEST of their kind on RUclips and I look forward to more.
I think that Silent Running is one of the most boring films I have ever seen. Now Forbidden Planet and Voyage to the bottom of the Sea are a different matter
Silent running, one of my favorites since i was a kid.
The 2 honourable mentions are the best 2 films in this list!
I loved Gary and Sylvia Andersons vision of the future...the technology improves but culture of the 1960s is preserved
Forbidden Planet... The Best Sci Fi film forever!!!!! 💗
Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷💗✌️
My first Sci Fi experience when I was maybe 5 or 6. Hooked ever since. When Worlds Collide.
"Forbidden Planet" deserves much more than an honourable mention ... it is groundbreaking for it's time

Journey to the far side is one of my favs...so haunting.
Just got the German steel book Blu-ray for Xmas 😊
All great movies
Good video-thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching!
All classic films, I've seen everyone. This sounds like a great Sci-Fi marathon on Comet TV.
Congratulations on being your five-hundredth subscriber!!! Namely me!!!
Planet Earth! That was the movie I couldn't remember!
Surprised Forbidden Planet only got an honorable mention in Part 2. It was the first big budget sci-fi movie, actors were coached to take it seriously, big name stars... lots of firsts that showed potential for revenue and set a precedence for Star Trek, 2001, etc.

4:31 -- Holy crap! That's Diana Muldaur, Dr. Pulaski from ST:TNG!
Seriously, how did forbidden planet get an honorable mention? It's a classic scifi film!
It is a great classic but the theme was 60s, 70s and 80s. It was made in 1956 but I still had to mention it!
Thanks for the post have then all

the idea of that poor robot left looking after the forest for ever adrift in space always made me sad
When the ship went through the meteorite storm and the poor robot was knocked clean out into space and they only found its foot - that was my low point.
This Island Earth. It had a bit of “The Last Starfighter” type of a plot. Assemble an interociter and get to travel to a distant planet.
Predates the 60's limit in this film, but I certainly agree!
Still missing The Time Machine (1960)
This evening, December 31st 2020 to January 1st 2021, Dutch TV is showed "Highlander, "Escape from New York" ánd "Blade Runner!
Maybe up the volume of the original material, or lower the -3 TIMES LOUDER- volume of the intercutted static noise bits?
Remembering fondly when Kurt Russell was hot AF. I’m talkin’ Snake Plissken. On a side note, as the NYC housing market continues to collapse due to corrupt municipal leadership and COVID, it truly is an, “Escape From New York.”

I wouldn't have given "Forbidden Planet" an honorable mention while putting "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" on the main list.
Monsters of the ID. Forbidden Planet best SciFi classic of all time. Does anyone else believe we are headed to Silent Running with coorporate America controlling everything?
6:10 - HA! Eat my shorts, Elon Musk! Someone did it before you!
If you are going to the sun, you have to go at night.
Doh everyone knows that
「Moon Zero two」って始めて知りました!
リストに上がるぐらいだから、日本以外では有名なSF映画なのですね?
あ、「planet earth」も知らなかった!
で。
さらに大昔のSF(禁断の惑星を上げるのなら)を上げるのならば「宇宙水爆戦」は?
いや、ジョージ・パルの「宇宙戦争」は?いやいや、「タイムマシン」は?
切りが無いですね。すいません。
I would have considered “Forbidden Planet” a far more classic sci-fi film than the Omega Man as opposed to an “Honourable Mention”.
It's honorable mention only because it is outside the time-span of 60s, 70s and 80s. Forbidden Planet is a far better sci-fi than some though, that is for sure!

7:19 - Stan Smith’s early career eventually led to joining the CIA...
Forbidden Planet only gets an honourable mention? You are having a laugh
Wonderful selection for the first 3 movies but the loud 'white noise' effect between clips ruined enjoyment of the video and I switched off.
Yeh, I was going for the retro effect but oh well. I've dropped that from future one's. I keep learning as I go and they get better.
3Brew Entertainment - I didn't mind the main idea to split up the clips it was just the sudden noise which I couldn't take, but I must add that your videos are THE BEST of their kind on RUclips and I look forward to more.

As a naturalist and SciFi lover, this movie resonated with me. But I can see why it didn't with others.
I can't stand Diana Muldaur...
I am legend is just an omega man ripoff.
