Always wonderful to see the history of the rails so lovingly restored and actually being put to good use! The red engine, Willy, reminds me of one of my childhood books I had, The Little Engine That Could. Marvelous!!
Hello Paul - greetings from Poland Another lovely video back at the S&C Railway. The sights and sounds of the steam and diesel locos were wonderful. All that was missing was the smell! Beautifully photographed.
Thank you Michael! Glad you enjoyed this return to the S&C. I loved this little loco. On my way to my current holiday in North Devon I managed to stop off at both the WSR and the L&B who both had galas on - I managed to get some captures which I'll compile on my return. Hope the tests and hospital procedures are over now Michael. Take care, Paul
Tantalizingly close the Cricklade - but a lot of work to do, and money to raise before reaching the next stop? What a marvellous museum at Blunsdon, with memorabilia indicating the former railway's vital economic importance in rural areas, as well as its capacity to transport passengers and goods to other parts of the country. Very enjoyable video
Thank you Malcolm! Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, much work to get to Cricklade - I think the main issue is lack of volunteers at the moment - they are struggling to keep the line open, sadly 😕. Take care, Paul
Lovely bit of nostalgia. So glad to see them going thriving. Well over 7 years since we went and I don’t think they had a museum then. I expect you were surprised to see the Liskeard sign Paul. What a decent size they made those signs so you could actually see them. Also very interesting to see the map of Swindon works. Did you see the bomb craters in the field near Hayes Knoll? Very enjoyable. Thank you.
Thank you Marilyn! Ooh, I didn't see any bomb craters, but I also didn't know that there were any there! Hayes Knoll is an odd place because there is no pedestrian access out of the station - it is marooned inside private fields with no rights of way across. I will have to look next time I am there Take care, Paul
@@westcountrywanderings I think the craters were near there on the right hand side going away from Blunsdon. We had a really excellent guard once who knew all the history and pointed things of interest out to passengers. Yes I’m still a passenger not a customer!
Thank you so much David! Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, this line is quite close to where I live in Gloucestershire, so it is an easy one to do. Take care, Paul
Yes the little red engine reminds me of ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’! I hope they can expand to Cricklade - I found a new to me line the other day- called the Lavender Line - out of your area I’m afraid! They too are awaiting more funds to finance their ambitions! It does conjure up a vision of a ‘pretty’ line but it was named for the owner of the coal yard from whence it starts! Thanks Paul!
I live nearby. There is talk of it being taken back into Network Rail for a second London to Brighton Line, to ease overcrowding. The line used to link Lewes with Uckfield. Currently, Uckfield is the terminus for the line to London Bridge via Edenbridge, and East Croydon.
Thanks for the reply! Perhaps that would herald the start of Network Rail opening up new lines( or reopening old lines) to relieve congestion as the trains can only convey so many and bus services start up & disappear & cannot carry many passengers either!
Thank you Diana! Yes, it is a lovely little line, and the weather brightened up later. Glad you have found a 'new' line nearer to you too. Take care, Paul
Enjoyable ride and look around Paul. You managed to avoid the rain. Running an engine at both ends must jack the costs up, they are both consuming fuel when being towed. Guess they know what they are doing. Take care. Ron
Thank you Ron - I am still on holiday in Cornwall at the moment but heading back soon to Gloucestershire. I think the 'top & tail' was out of necessity because of rail works at the Mouldon Country Park end which meant locos could not run around the trains. Thank you! Yes, I managed to avoid rain 🌧️ on holiday too but it has now returned now I am heading back home. Still, I did lots of filming here, so lots to edit now! Take care, Paul

Thank you 👍!
Yes, it did remind me of that too.
Well spotted.
Take care,
Paul
I really enjoyed this! Thank you Paul! Really loved the cute little engine! I just love the sound of steam, the chugging and the whistles. 🚂
Thank you Louise!
Glad you enjoyed it.
It is a lovely little railway.
Take care,
Paul
What a great day out, I loved the engines & the super little museum. It shows what an enormous amount of railwayana there is out there.
Thank you Faith!
Yes, the museum held quite a collection of railwayana there.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Take care,
Paul.
Another good one, Paul. That little red engine is delightful.
Thank you Jim!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Cheers,
Paul

Absolutely lovely. What a wonderful way to travel. Love that train station. In the days when they really took pride in places 👍
Cheers Phil!
Glad you enjoyed it.

@@EthanolEnthusiast we were told about the craters by a member of staff on the train and they were pointed out to us. Very visible.
Excellent, Paul. Thanks for sharing. 🙂👍
Thank you Ron!
I do like revisiting this little railway 🚂.
