I’m pretty young (18) and live in scotland been working a traditional stone masonry, been building houses with stone and mortar, I want to do more finer work as I love art... like chiselling letters and such hopefully will get to college after lockdown. Stay safe everyone!
Leave these stick on guys out. They know nothing about building a masonry building. Go do the real thing. You will be glad you did. If did is what you did.
@@hackbritton3548 I did I been doing it for over a year now. But fuck it’s hard work lugging around big stones all day in the freezing cold. This stuff he’s surely won’t hold up to the weather but anyways, I can’t see myself doing this full time though as I’m just not passionate enough for it. But my dreams have been realised and I’m finishing next year to move on to being a tattoo artist my true passion.
So all is good…
It’s funny seeing old comments like this, I have learnt a lot in the past 10 months
Some masonry companies also do firepits, chimneys, fountains and other types of structure which do require a bit more creativity and isn't so monotonous, also if you think this is bad in the cold weather try doing in when the sun is beating down on you all day long.
I have been a stone mason for about 4 years now and it is amazing. Never the same old place never stuck in side for to long never have to wear a suit or touch a pin just swing a hammer all day. I want to start my own company when I get enough experience to feel comfortable.
Mr. DroCro thank you for the information. 👍🏻🇺🇸
Hi
Hi..I'm. .mason.
@@travis4308 Hi I hope your doing great! I am a high school student doing a project about careers I would like to interview a couple people who work in trades. Are you interested?
I have a company in indiana I am looking for a good partner
It seems Stonework in Canada and the States is mostly tiling or slip form. Very different here in Cornwall, UK. Stone work is usually for the structure aswell as the aesthetics. I would like to try my hand at what you are doing as it would make a change from what I'm used to. All the best from one Stonemason to another. Fingers crossed for a kind winter.
Yes things are a bit different over here. Products and methods are always changing. Customers are always adding new types of products and we do our best to keep up with the changing times. All the best to you as well. Thanks for watching James!
As a stonemason myself based in Germany I can tell it really is different
Yea in USA none of the guys I work with have ever even done structural stone work, even the old timers.
@@bradley6386 where would you go to learn that today?
@@garalynbearcrane8057 the south, they still build brick homes down there
Good lad ! And you’re a Man Utd fan as well ! I’m a Utd season ticket holder 👍😄
Looks good. Don't mind the hate. I do alot of commercial work and thats the material and style that this industry is heading. Glad to see it done right in RUclips for once
Hey, Thanks Samuel. Appreciate the positive feedback. We agree with you. Allot of people heading this way for consumer and commercial products. We love the real stone and mostly we use it on custom homes and were people have the budget.
I'm 20 and I'm trying to get into this business. Im currently in Las Vegas.
How is it going
Awesome video and awesome work! Well done boys!
Avi Dhanowa Thanks Avi!!!
Yea brother, im a retired mason from the states......God bless you
At least the owner gets out after it and works with his crew
Lyle Starnes I get depressed if I go to long with not being on the tools. And allot of days is driving around job site to job site and dealing with pop up issues. So it’s always nice to be working in the tools .
Thanks Lyle. Appreciate the positive comment.
@@ShawnAylesworth I'm a stone mason from lookout mountain GA you guys do great work. Glad to see other people keeping it alive
Lol if he doesnt his workers will half ass and goof around. When the boss is around everyone is a badass
The flower bed is a good idea for the slope entry of water, but wondering if the rain channels into the two holes or pools.. if there was a resevoir under the ground line this could also serve as a cistern collection .. not only useful for flours but you could probably incorporate that into raised bed system.. with wicks in the soil... ie like mop strands or purpose build wiking material... to draw the water up to the root level.. this is a good system of water collection and use .. if you had a hand pump you could also evacuate the cistern pool for watering etc... the idea is good.. but could be improved imo. Is the entire bed foundation a concalve in all direction so recessed on the friction slope ... also do you use a smooth stone leading into that area or does it drain along the pointing/creveses. also is there a picture of the inside of the bed before te soil is loaded? Good idea imo...
Hey from one mason to another great looking work and great looking company!! Hats off!!
Hey Steve, Thanks for watching. We appreciate the feedback. All the best to you as well.
New Subscriber....but great video brother....im also a mason.....keep up the great work....👍👍👍😁✌
Thanks for the sub!
Much respect follow mason!
How much should I charge per brick? I hear a lot of people I work with they charge 60 cents but that seems a little but they lay about 20,000 bricks also how much should I charge for block nd stone work

How do you cope and recover from the wear and tear the labor gives your body?
Good question. Time... your body will get used to the hard labour. But it’s always a tougher job then normal.
This is not a stone mason just tiling
Mexicans took over lick em and stick em. Cheap
It may not look like it's crazy high up...but up there isnt fun...especially for someone like me that is not to find of heights
Nice work particularly the square gate posts , lot more work than a straight run , I wear a rubber synthetic type of glove , sure beats lime burnt fingers . Margarets man .
Thank you very much. Yes allot more work then most recognize. Thanks for noticing. Keep up the hard work.
Beautiful. Great work
How does one get into Masonry work
fellow mason and utd fan. Do you get to play with granite much? I'm out in Guernsey we have the hard heavy work here.
Hello Harvey, Sometimes for surfaces. Mostly interior. Keep up the heavy lifting. Thanks for watching
What do you charge per foot natural or phony stone
You can get a fine for not wearing your hard hat properly over here
hahaha yes very true. We do our best to follow the WCB guidelines. Thanks for watching Peter.
@@ShawnAylesworthI hate those safety pricks
peter janjanin where?
My man from a stone mason to another. These people who comment negative are clowns and jealous. I love my trade, as you sound the same. But dammit I honestly I hate masons they are a rough breed but more whiny then a high-school girl. Most people commenting don't own a business, and lack the ambition to. Masonry is like being an artist, each one has their own canvas so just worry about yours and stop judging the others. Cash is king and opinions are like assholes everyones got one. Cheers man would love to help you on a project some time
Yep. You couldn't have said it any better. Thank you for watching and standing up for us BUSINESS OWNERS, artists, and hard workers.Thank you Kevin McQueen.
Hey Adrian, I understand some of the salty comments I probably dislike “lick n’ stick” as much as you do. I’m getting ready to pull the pin (63 yo). Working for Maltesen Masonry in Van right now.
Just wanted to say that I thought the video was well done and ask you what drone did you use and what did you shoot the other video with.
Hey Lar, Any comment is a good comment for us. Good or bad. It helps with rankings and were happy to respond to silly emotional comments. Thank you for the positive feedback. The drone we used was a DJI Mavic. And for the other footage we used a cannon SLR 1080p high def. Easy to use tools. I highly recommend the DJI Mavi. Thanks for watching and good luck through the winter months.
Tiling really isn’t it . Looks great but not how we do it in the Uk .
What’s up with the holes at 0:50 ???
He said it was for drainage
You should see Yorkshire stone walling.
Interest video mate, your doing well for yourself and you enjoy it. That’s what it’s all about.
Cut the Crap hey, thanks for watching. Yes I love what I do! Approached the positive comment!
i just see tiling ! fair play to him, if he is making a living and thats what people want ...but it doesnt compare to real stonework many of us do in U.K. shaping and fitting together huge lumps of natural stone , solid .500mm walls , lumping tons and tons up scaffolding , actually dressing quoin stones etc. hate to be negative ..but you cant be doing a really physical job and have a physique like that ! I am 50 , and struggle to see how you could do REAL stonemasonary and be that out of shape !
I'm a laborer and even I get included on lick and stick jobs 😂
And what makes laying a brick so difficult?
What level of laying that brick are you at how did you manage to set up laying that brick do you know what I know, can you see what I seeee
Martina Allen ;’
@@BearbaitsibeirainRd laying a brick may not be difficult. but carrying over moving around and then laying another 300 or so at least with enough care to not have bricks all over the place is not exactly easy
That was a real beautiful house
Wheres he from? Notice the Manchester United tattoos and ornaments in car?
I believe he's from redding. But is a die hard MUFC fan. He currently resides in Victoria BC Canada
Would lobe to listen to this mans opinions about the stone work in historical byildings like the piramids, peru, mexico, india bikdings etc,i think no one asked for Stone workers opinions about it,would be interesting
Not one real stone laid

that scaffolding is considered a fuckijng tower in England.
america is years behind England in terms of health and safety.
Had a guy once, who I was interviewing for a sales job whom also claimed he was that good he could sell ice to the Eskimos....
He didn't get the job as I pointed out where was your market research that backed up the fact that an Eskimo needed ice....
hahahaha. very true.
That's the point ya Twigg
That big of a customer and he shows in basketball shorts and some flops... real professional! I don’t care how well you know them you shouldn’t show up like that
Yes agreed. Usually I show up in proper work attire. But when it's a very close friend/work relationship and were visiting on a weekend for a quick beer and catch up, then I'm sure he doesn't mind as well as I don't mind.
Calm down bud.
You're pry sitting in your crusty boxers making RUclips comments while this man's blasting good work out...
Doug Funny Hahahhaha. Thanks Doug. Appreciate the positive feedback.
I’m not in crusty boxers, I’m just stating facts about being in business, ran my own tree trimming business for 16 years and you would never catch me dressed like that, guess we just have a different opinion, wish you all the best
Class of 92. Who was your favourite player? For me paul scholes
Good question. Adrain do you want to jump in here and answer?
l would like to do this kind of work but as a tile setter where l live union is so corrupt l got tired of the amout of selfishness of asslickers and people that don't care for other employees only for those that are willing to pay extra money and bribe the leaders of the so called union is amazing to see how people get hired and put at front only because they were related to someone well known and others like me had to go tru very long term laid off lists that seemed to never end meanwhile watching how those special people if get layoff by the next day or two they already have another job meanwhile us only pay for dues without any sing of getting hired soon. l finally have quit to that type of corrupt system
It's very rewarding but hard work. Working for yourself is the way to go if you can mange the extra responsibilties of running a business. All the best and good luck.
You in BAC?
Not one brick being spread by the labours soft

Setup by my employer worry everyday I will die from silicosis from drilling into concrete the dust is fatal with no hope get your loved ones away from construction
Thats not stone masonry and concrete is not mortar..
Sorry, but this is not really stone masonry, nice work, but sticking a thin stone veneer on block work is not stone masonry.

Is block work masonry?
Dumb ass.. all the same masonry tools, working with cement. And its natural stone than..... shit it's in the the name "stone Mason "
What the hell is it?
Fake , not even real thin stone
I cannot believe this comment. You'r a dumbass. Just because he's not working with big sandstones making driveways and walls in THIS video doesn't mean he's not a stone mason or doing stonemasonry.
Can females be a masonry too ? What if I didn’t finish high school can I still become a masonry ?
Bricky tools are for brickies.

@joel bow i know the feeling mate, I have to wear a back brace while working. Where you from?
So your a tiler 🤔
Here in UK we use the proper stuff and if the customer wanted stone tiles thinly cut, I would not put my name to it. I lay bricks ,blocks stone and natural.....Not tiles. If that's what you like doing then hey.
Can't beat traditional build.
Hey Pete, We understand and agree. We turn down some work when clients demands are extreme and we won't put are name on the work as well.
