"The whole song is inspired by the dream I had the night before I woke up that morning. I dreamt about walking in the same halls and about making music: I couldn't leave in any way before I finished my work."[1] This song is possibly about the LGBT community and sex itself, but this depends on the person who listens to the song, since AURORA stated that the songs of this album can have different meanings to everyone depending on how deep you dive in them.
To me is seems to be about Humans being in nature and feeling what it feels like to be alive away from the normal life at home and feeling free in nature. Other wise it's about being sexually orientated differently and escaping the home life where you are suppressed, now escaping then being free to express yourself and feel truly loved and natural the way you want to be which is exhilarating .
This song is so ethereal, I find it so tragic yet beautiful at the same time. Personally, I connected as a person who was abused and finally felt free again. The lyrics "Can't stay here, I throw myself in the ocean, I lift myself and run" feels like a person preparing themselves to flee or fight back, looking into the abyss of uncertainty, but jumping anyway if it means freedom. The second part is filled with lyrics that allude to physical and even emotional abuse, the insistent attempt to make sense of it "The ugly and the flawless beauty of us" and "The only traces of our love blossoming" but the realization that "I'm not home in a place where love has been broken." The chorus is, for me, as if I am running through the woods after escaping darkness and pain, the adrenaline and relief of being alive and well, the world is still real outside the walls and I get to experience it. The part about "All connecting light becomes a human shield," makes me think of all the people that supported me or went through the same, we as a community coming together to strive for everyone's safety and happiness. AURORA is amazing!
