    What a great kid and a wonderful father. I remember my grandfather mixing up fermented oats for his pigs and grandma's chickens. I eat it myself and love it. Thanks for the video.

    Great job teaching this kid!!
    I told my dad about fermenting oats for his layer chickens and that's all he feeds now in the morning and lets them free range.

    Great job body and explained everything very well
    I just want to give you a tip. When are ready to remove your fermented grains from your bucket please don't throw away the water it's got neutrance in it . If you have any plants in containers like tomatoes you can feed it directly or if not you can mix the water with hay and make great compost after a week . Good luck you
    Guys

    It's awesome that you get to pass that knowledge down to your son. I had an uncle.

    I always wondered about that. I guess that's a great way to save a lot of money on feed. I hope to have my chicken coop up by this fall, and this is great to know for when the time comes to feed them "grown up" feed. Thank you! Sheila

    How long do they need to soak before feeding them to the chickens?

    • @zekeesch6031
      @zekeesch6031 2 месяца назад

      After about 2 or 3 days the water will get a little foggy, and it'll start to have a smell. That's when I feed it

    why dint you just boil them on stove and let them cool...

    • @lindseyintexas6895
      @lindseyintexas6895 2 года назад

      He's making large batches. It would be a pain to boil them on the stove! Using the heat from outside is a great way to ferment as much as he's doing. We do the same system and it's pretty fool proof!

  • @carlhephill9359

    sadly he doesn't know what he is talking about, it takes 21 days to get fermentation. he's doing what i do plus i add barley, milo and shredded beat pulp too. and yes unsulfered molasses is great, added in the mixing processes not the swelling processes.

    • @BarnGeek
      @BarnGeek  5 лет назад +7

      Fermentaion isn't something you get to after a certain number of days, it's a process. As long as the process of breaking down sugars has begun, it is fermentation.

    • @user-wu9sk7fs7v
      @user-wu9sk7fs7v 4 года назад +3

      no one ferments chicken feed for 21 days. the process can start within a few days depending on temperature.
