only problem with that, its wrong, since you are losing tension at 2 points. you need to wrap the lose end around that loop to get a blackwall hitch. this way you can pull, build up tension and wont lose any of it.

I learnt the knot years ago when helping set up a large marquee. Shown a couple of times and then told to do the remaining 30+ tie down points. It was ingrained in my head quite quickly. Repetition is the key. Although I use the more traditional method of tying it which is more handy when you have heaps of surplus line that you don't need to feed through, I do like this method for teaching. You can easily modify this method to have the line across before he pulls the loop through with the 3 finger grab.

Thanks so much for this video. I am a medic in Ukraine, evacuating patients over horribly bumpy shelled-out roads. I used this knot to lash down an EKG monitor so that it wouldn’t fall on my patients. Watched your video repeatedly, practiced over and over and over and over, and when I needed this knot, it kept that monitor in place for a month! It actually became a good conversation starter. Sometimes you want to keep guys talking, and my assurances that the monitor would not come crashing down fed many a conversation with an injured soldier. Thanks so much!

Fantastic “how to…”! Camera angle, rope contrast with background, repetition of techniques in review, catchy phrases to remember techniques, and positive and patient instructions all combined to make this a great mini class. Wow! You are a superb instructor and I will gladly JOIN to see more. Thank you!
