All in all, I think I have to go with the Honda. More comfortable to ride, more reliable, and almost as fast. The Yamaha DEFINITELY takes the cake for being maximum 80s. What do you think?
I definitely like the look of the Honda better and it seems to do better off-road but the Yamaha sounds the best and can rip

The Yamaha is more of a straight away and jumping type. Where the honda shines is more off road. When it came to the grand pre it was the slow and steady who won the race. But I am liking the Yamaha.
You guys should both ride each wheeler.

At one point, my family had 5 atc 70s, 1 200sx, a Tecate, and a 250r. I love atcs, last 2 I had were an 84 250r, and an 85? 350x. miss riding my death machines that scared most "men"

Yeah that Yammy sounds like it has very little compression. Piston slapping around in the cylinder.

@@Tshizzle42o I think it sounds ok definitely a little low on compression but the bottom end noise you're talking of sounds more like the clutch clanking to me. Engine doesn't seem to play up when the noise happens and only seems to be on idle. Piston rings and maybe weak reeds. I think bottom end would have gone by the end of the video with the ragging he gave it.

Started on a 1982 Suzuki 125 trike. Now 25 years later have a dozen 3 wheelers! Love ol Hondas and Yamaha trikes! Finally just got a 1986 Honda 250r!

Great stuff, guys! When I was 10 years old my mom bought a brand new 1985 Honda 200s just like that. I started on a Honda 110, moved up to the 200s, then a Honda 200x, a Honda xr200 dirt bike and ended up with a Honda xr600r dirt bike in my early 20's. Seeing the old 200s sure brings back some memories! I like the Honda much better than the Yamaha but I'm a little biased! LOL!

The early Yamahas were wheelie-monsters. Honda had a patent on the engine placement so Yamaha had to move the engine rearward.
That engine location made the Yamahas really scary for going up hills too.
Kawasaki and Polaris were more forward from Honda ATC
I could be wrong but from what I've read that's not why Yamaha went with their rearward placement, I've got a big long article on the bike including period mods for racing and how to install the protec rear suspension kit etc, that I aquired with my protec equipped yt175. Anyways in short they found out in R&D that it gave better stability on straights and while braking/turns etc, never once mentioned it being patent related. I absolutley love my tri motos, own a stocker and a "race converted" with ported cyl,bassani chamber, 30mm carb/custom reedcage and manifold, ytm200 forks and tripple clamps with 200x front wheel and the super rare protec suspension kit, wider blaster rear axle and hubs sporting 20in tires...absolute beast, gives my tecate 3 hell in the tight shit and will eat 200xs for breakfast.😎🍻

@@trimotomann653 Right on. yes I believe them to be much better than DG, for more than one reason not just performance but also fitment,I've had issues on other bikes when using DG, except for my rd350, those I will say are a great pipe for the price.

Just got my yt 125 tri moto back up and running than I got to get the other yt125 running but i do agree I like Honda stuff more but the 125 is fun to rip

Pretty cool you guys still have those classics. I've always been partial to the hondas. As a boy my uncle bought a new tri moto and I hated it as a kid. Loud, uncomfortable and no fun (for a kid) to ride. I also have always thought they're ugly too. My first wheeler was in the late 80's and it was a 1984 Honda 125M...I loved that little machine. Good video guys.

I think one of the downsides of the Yamaha is that it doesn't have a proper clutch. It's really not that big of a deal on the Honda because four strokes make plenty of low down power.

Man I’ve been watching you guys for so long and I’ve always had atc’s. Semi recently I finally picked up a couple mini bikes and now you guys want to start riding atc’s!!!! Well at least I have both now too
Thanks for the nostolgia guys! I grew up riding 3ws like Rhonda all over the hills of PA with friends. Couple things that came back were how you had to basically slide your butt all the way on the opposite fender to take full speed turns without 2-wheelin and right as your back wheels are going into the jump you hop on the pegs and shove your heels down so you get extra lift from the shocks/bouncy tires. Just make sure to pull back a little on the handles in the air so the back end doesn't lift. Landing on the front wheel is a cookie toss for sure. LMAO.
Had a new185s in 1984. Remember the back end trying to pass the front end going fast over bumps. Traded up to a 250SX and still have it. A buddy had the Trimoto. It didnt like the water at all.
When I was a kid we had one of those 3 wheel death machines. Honda ATC250ES big red with electric start and reverse. Also had a kick start back up in case electric didn't work. It was a sweet ride.

Had one. Loved it. Reduce air pressure in those balloon tires and it won't bounce so much when trying to get over the rocks.

I have a scar across my right hand from going through brambles... I've always worn gloves since, not particularly bad of a cut, but they don't half sting if they get caught in your knuckles 👊... Loving the trike content 👍

I recently got bit by the 3 wheeler bug. I went from never owning one to having 5 of them in the last couple months. Got all of them running and a few of them drivable. Mostly tires, cables, carbs, and tanks. All set for years and years and ran with little work. I want a 200x next.
I love em. Especially the rarer Yamaha TRI Z's and Kawasaki Tecate. Hondas are a blast to work on and restore.
