i remember the night i had dinner with stipe. i told him this was my favorite song. my friends and i got seats on the stage and he said..."this is for my new friend".
Back in 2006, I learned who REM was and decided to Google if they ever played in my town Winston. I was shocked to find out that they actually recorded here. Mitch Easter's studio would be about 5 miles south of where I am now
Irish fan here. I had been listening to Reveal for a number of years before I realised some of it had been recorded in Dalkey which is not even 5 miles from me, in fact not even 3, but I'm not going to get too specific at risk of doxing myself. There's an Italian restaurant there where various celebrities have written messages on the wall and if I remember correctly one of them says "Michael Stipe is straight - 2000". Most have been an in joke. They seem to have grown fond of Ireland during their final years as they went here to record Accelerate as well as two live albums
This song got me into R.E.M. and is still my fave, after absorbing the whole discography. Always thought the line was "We could find an innocence" rather than "We could bind it in the scythe".
Can't do a reply, so a quote: "Liss George 1 year ago The most beautiful imperfection ever is the Stipe's voice." So, 'Liss George' was deleted for copyright violation or some shite BUT the important bit is: "The most beautiful imperfection ever is the Stipe's voice." Yesssss thank you for putting into words something I could not!!! Stipe's voice is the most painfully, personally, deeply painfully true imperfection I have known. I have been in a public place and heard a less well known (to most) REM song and thought, Whose voice is that, my friend, my relative? before realizing it's Stipe. So, thanks Liss George, sorry you got copyright banned!!

One of their best songs, no doubt

Thanks for sharing this, great to hear this early version of a great song.
“Kitchen-size the nutmeg here.”
This is why I love the internet...
This from a guy that adds SO MUCH to the internet. Quite a compliment if you don't know OP.

Demo version of this song is soo cool!
Heaven! Has always been my favorite R.E.M. song. I prefer the Murmur version, but this 1981 original was already immortal.
Es aún para hoy
Lo que más
Te gusta?
Y es?
Hermosa música
Hermosa voz
Such a great song. Such a great band.
Up to par, Katie bars the kitchen signs but not May Anne, see them try for the big kill, wasting time sitting still.
What a great band in the early days. So sad to witness what they became later on.
We could Bandon in the siss
"We could gather throw up beer"
ClueSign we could gather throw a fit
David Sauer It's a joke dumbass
We could gather, throw or fill
Supposedly Stipe sometimes would sing that in the live version. He thought it was funny that some fans thought that was the lyrics.
@@df5295 Murmur was known for its indecipherable lyrics, and without printed lyrics on the album sleeve, they were anybody's guess.
Very cool!
Very cool
We could bind it in the cyst?
scythe.
Cool!
Woof!
👍
Haven't heard this one before - what a treat!
Whose handwriting is on the cassette? And what is the cassette worth now?
Dyn Jarren looks like Peter’s.
Wonderful song, but the drums in this version sound like a guy repeatedly hitting the "handclap" key on a Casio keyboard!!!
Twisted Kites ==> REM.
Play backgammon and throw up this.
