Way more simpler than what I thought lmao I have tgis same tv I just need the LEDs and I'm good. Thanks a bunch highly appreciate this video.
How many of you guys take tvs thrown out home to try and repair them because of this channel ?
Its tempting. The only issue is, new tvs are cheap. However, there should be a place where tv owners can drop off their broken tvs , maybe at a township recycling center keeping them from going into landfills. Fix them, and donate them to poor people.
My son has a roku tv he got last black Friday the screen decided to just stop working hopefully I can just replace one of the boards to fix it how much do u charge to fix something like that at ur shop
Very informative! Thank you for the video!
We need more people like you😊
Thank u sir I just ordered from ur shop last night 24hrs later my tv is now crystal clear again was awesome ur shop is in Minnesota I could of drove there but it was a hr drive with biden gas prices I probably paid the same amount I would in gas for shipping
How much are they
Great video. May try on my 72" vizio. Assume need more suction cups. My gosh there's planned obsolescence in these devices... went from 40 year old CRT tv to flat screens.... and the life span appears to be 5 years. I'm guessing this is the fix for mine
Dave C. how do you think I feel after selecting Vizio primarily because it was supposed to be a US company. Forgoing my traditional deep research into where OEM parts manufactured and comparison of specifications.
As a lifelong electronic bench Tech Raised only a few blocks away from quality goes in before name goes on Zenith's headquarters, USA's last TV & CRT manufacturer before sold to South Korea's LG.
Even my parents purchasing their first foreign made automobile Kia also out of South Korea only for them to get stuck on the highway after catastrophic engine failure resulting from failure to blow out bits of metal machined off crankcase.
@@CONCERTMANchicago second video I saw indicated that an electronics board would fix. No led change required... looking now
How about that Vizio just plain sucks.
Nothing like being green when nothing last anymore. 90% people or more with just toss it, all the energy/pollution making new tvs every 3-5 years……
This is a wonderfully detailed video.
A before and after would be satisfying. To help out those trying to troubleshoot this repair issue.
im going to do this repair today, first timer....... thanks for the free suction cups with my order
where did you get the suction cups from?
VIZIO E50x-E1 LED TV (purchased 2017) and the screen went black.
When powered up and shining a light on the screen I can see the screen dose have the input images. Also it has sound, but the LED back-lights not working.
Several hours before the screen went totally black the upper left corner was darker then normal.
Should I do more investigation or does the symptoms indicate that the back-light LED’s need to be replaced ?
(if so how/where do I need to look) Thank you for your very good help.
Thank you, i was not sure about fixing it myself or not and this video helped my decision, half the words you said about parts of the TV i did not understand so new TV time, i am getting bad with hands and memory ever since i started getting sick so i have to pass, looks cheap when you take them apart, is that on purpose?
Need a set of those suction cups. I just got this same TV with the same problem, in the trash outside my neighbors house. This will be in perfect working order in no time.. provided I can get suction cups.
How can you tell if all of them are out?
And would be cheaper to buy a new tv.
Is just a shame they only last a year, though! Thx for taking time to show us how to replace
Be nice to see a before and after shot of the screen...
Turn on tv .Hold a flash light up to the screen. If you see the picture with your flash light then your lights are out
Thank you for the easy-to-follow video. I will be doing this shortly as it seems to be much easier then anticipated...
Take care and hope to see more.
Thank you for this awesome video! I just purchased the led strips for my Vizio D55x-G1. Will the steps be about the same for that set? In other words, could I follow along with this video when replacing the strips on my D55x-G1? Thanks again! 😊👍🏾🙏🏾
Do you have to remove every strip or just the one burned out
I was also wondering about that. I have just 1 out.
Replace every one. They’re all just as old and worn out as the one that finally gave up. If you replace only the faulty one, you’re going to have to do all of this again sooner rather than later.
good video well explained congratulations for your channel
Do you absolutely have to have the suction cups?
Is the lcd screen clear i.e. do you need to take care that dust/debris is wiped away from the back side or else it will show through once you put it back in?
Should you replace all the LED strips so they will be equally bright / lit?
Wish someone could give me a definitive answer with whats going on with my vizio. It started out with horizontal lines (very few) and it got worse and had more lines. They would almost pulsate every second. Now I have a large area on the bottom that consists of lines of purple and it sometimes has parts of the picture freeze almost like screen burn but then fixes itself but still has purple section. It also seems like it tries to get better or worse over a period of time after being turned on. So I'm leaning towards it being on one of the PCBs or one of the components on the boards. Maybe even grounding. I noticed when I had it open the little metallic tape that appeared to ground to the two thin boards at thw bottom were all loose and not attached. I tried using electrical tape to hold them against the metal part inside but the tape didn't stick. Wondering if its interference from not being grounded properly (im assuming those are grounds.)
Did this and the new ones went out immediately
Ouch man. Sorry to hear that. It's honestly much easier to just buy a new TV these days. They get cheaper and cheaper all the time.
How do you read he part number on the led strips
I replaced the LEDs on my 50” Vizio tv. But now only the right half of the tv works. The left half is still black. I made sure the left and right half of the lights were all connected together. What else could be causing this?
Do you have one for a D48-D0 Vizio tv? It looks way different than this tv.
I wonder how many people actually managed this successfully?
Actually how many really cared... I know I don't.
I'll try this I just found a 70 inch tv by the side of the trash 🗑️
I did this and it worked great! I’m getting ready to replace the lights again in that same tv.
Are the replacement strips power properly now, or will the same thing happen 2 more years in? I really want to fix the problem , not just redo what was wrong to begin with.
not one reply to any question on this video. i won't be buying anything from shopjimmy.
My exact 55 strips and backlight is dark..Just flashing white dim light in center screen...Its 4k do I throw it out? How much to fix it?
Think it would be possible without the suction cups? We have a TV that might be able to be repaired but I don’t have suction cups
Then how do you scale tall buildings? Say... you don't suppose ShopJimmy is really Spiderman is disguise!?!?!??
Harbor freight tools has them cheap.
My TV is bright white around the edges, but darker in the middle of the screen. Its not noticeable when watching a dark movie with colors, but when you see a white screen it looks burned in the middle. Would this be the LED strips themselves? or just a replacement driver board?
Great video!! I'll be now chunking the whole thing in the trash and buy a new TV. Done..............
where can i get the led screen
What about the clear little sticks on the reflector sheet??
Is this procedure the same with the Vizio 65"? Also do u have the part number to the LEDs for the 65". I need the " guaranteed never to turn blue". Model of tv is E60 - E3. Tks
Don't know how I cannot find a video on determining if it's a bad inverter board or bad LED's. It's one or the other on mine.
Mine went from the backlight completely working one day to none of the strips lit the next day. Unless that unit is so poorly designed that the LED backlight strips are wired like they used to do holiday lights (and maybe still do), I would think that all of them are not likely to go at once. I can still see a faint image on the black screen, so I'm pretty sure it is a backlight issue. I'm inclined to think it would be something common to all the LED backlight strips, so problem with the inverter circuit would make sense.
Yo no toco las láminas difusoras con los dedos así, se quedan marcados y se ven en la imagen.
I think thays what might have happened to mine. Just the top backlight is dim
what is that drill bit?
They could make this easily replaceable but no they’d rather you buy a new one and throw out the old one
Well look at it this way. Wonder if you put the money out for this and something else breaks You're out the money that you just put into this. I'd much rather buy another one because TVs like TCL which are very good Don't break the bank and I get a new TV and I don't have to worry about some b******* breaking when I can have one with a damn warranty on it.
Lmao it's not hard if you watch the video and do it exactly how he does!! I just replaced mine and I've never done anything like this before! It's changing led strips with a video showing you step by step lmao you act like it's rebuilding the whole tv without any kind of instructions lmao gtfoh
It's because people like you would rather throw it away and get a new VS having to do a simple fix with a lot of step by step videos to help you do it and use the excuse that it's too hard or impossible lmao
@@eazy2hate if you like spending money on parts and shipping that equal up to or over new one (and a voided warranty)...go for it shitbrains.
These companies design obsolescence to get more money out of us. They do the same thing with smartphones.
I'm a younger guy but I don't mind fixing stuff on my own if it saves me some money. Other people my age look at me like I'm crazy. 😂
How can you tell which strip is bad, I need to replace some lights
Best to replace all of them while it is open , why change one then a week later have to do the same thing.
What if the backlights are out only on left side?
I have the same issue any fix?
Repairman told me you should replace all the lights doesn't make any sense having old and new lights what happens when the other old lights go out
screw that... new tv coming
Facts! To much work!
'Merica!
I’m with you - I’ll just get a new TV
What if one led strip dosent work rest do works fine but loses picture and not sound turn it off and back on and works again all led strips work except the bottom one
I have a Vizio D55x G1 with no backlight I have done the flashlight test and there is a picture. At first it would work then not work. The LED wires off the power supply show 24-25 vdc when not working and over 50vdc when working. I have replaced the power supply board it worked for a little while then went out. I did notice when turning on the voltage is above 35 but slowly goes down to 24-25. Any Ideas?
Did you ever solve this issue? I’m having the exact same problem with my Visio of same model number. Wondering what exactly it is
I'm beyond confused I took a tv apart completely and there was no light in the back at all I picked it up off the side of the road the backlight didn't come on so I tried figuring out the problem decided to take it apart any chance the previous owner stripped the lights out of the back ?
good
me mate tv fixer went to change my back lights screens glued jvc 55" gets it off 14 stripes all need replaceing plus the white sheet its glued i just bided it
Need to save this for later. Everyone is a smurf on mine now.
Black screen of death on my Vizio brought me here. Lasted 7 years.. smh quality is terrible in today’s world
So basically throw your tv away fuck all this lol
EXACTLY!!!
Remember to remove the tape from the corner. Didn't do it on one corner 🤣😭😂
These repairs are not that hard. It takes a little patience. I am repairing my Vizio 55" thanks to Jim. I just bought a 75" tv at Walmart 2 weeks ago and finally unboxed it tonight ONLY to discover the screen was cracked in numerous places. It was a bitch getting it out of its box, and equally as hard repacking it back to take back to Walmart. I will never get a 75" again. Too big and more of a chance of being damaged during shipping.
tv only lasted 5 years and they wont fix it WTH.
This is too much fn trouble. I can understand investing in this for a K+ and more price tag TV but not for a couple 100 that most TCLs go for.
TCL with ROKU beats the Vizio software, no contest.
@@joefish6091 you'll get no arguments from me....TCL is all I'll buy now. Vizio fn SUX!!!
:)
Didn’t know Seth Rogen fixed TVs.
Will buy new TV less work
Yikes!!
He put back the same strips
RUclips is so bad now , so many ads , ads at 1 minute in , more to follow . 5 minutes of ads in a ten minute video
Too many adds
Did you realize it any point that your video goes to removing the LED lights and then goes right back to putting them back on without describing what in the f*** have you done meanwhile to those LED lights makes f****** zero sense
He did, you missed it... That's just the where the procedure reverses.. You know, being the video is about replacing the LED strips... I genuinely don't get your confusion here... It's like you fast forwarded to 10 seconds before the reversal occurred and watched 20 seconds after only then to write a negative comment... Baffling.
He replaced them with new ones as he said and as the title indicates.
Who thought that music was a good idea?
Really need some help guys. I have a E55 E2 Vizio. Right side of the tv went dark. Not black but dark. Can this be fixed? Is this video showing what i can do to fix it?
Mikey Peece I had same thing happen. What did you do to fix it?
@@jeremybjerke76 if he fixed it he would not have asked how it can be fixed
Bottom line stay away from vizio TVs
good
