Cuando estudiaba 4° año de bachillerato en Mérida Venezuela estaba comprando un disco de Chic Corea y Ricardo Kobalsky dueño de la discotienda me recomendó que escuchara a OPA y de verdad me gustó ese jazz progresivo y genial. Excelentes estos músicos uruguayos. Hoy día conservo el acetato Goldenwings.
Esta música sigue vigente. Osvaldo ya no está. La última vez que lo vi iba caminando despacito por la calle Ejido, la cara este, rumbo a 18 de Julio. Estaba mal de salud claro. Osvaldo, un hombre, además de talentoso, acá puede oírse, tenía una simpatía extraordinaria. La verdad, yo lamento que no esté entre nosotros. Celebro que Hugo, sí lo esté. Hugo un fumador consuetudinario, con sus más de 70, sigue cantando fantástico y sigue en acción. A Hugo lo vi pasar por la calle Río Branco y Uruguay hace unos meses, vital y conversador: hablaba con el tipo del quiosco de revistas de la esquina. En Montevideo.
Gracias por tu testimonio valioso. Excelentes músicos, como he disfrutado todo lo que he podido escuchar desde que aparecieron en el ruedo, gracias eternas a ellos. Viva Uruguay.
Que iba a ser cualquiera!!flor de músico, lo pude ver en él Plaza en el 81 y dos veces en el 87 en el teatro de verano,sonido,toque el era OPA como Hugo y Osbaldo y con el Negro....cartón lleno... ah y las tres veces pude ver y oír a Way Wazzara con ellos...tremendo trompetista.

@@StrategicMessagingForLiberals Well I know them, but it's not my kind of music I like, even if Hugo Fattoruso is in this group, I have a solo album from Hugo called "Hugo Fattoruso Y Barrio Opa" released in 2018 on Far Out Recordings, and i need two more albums from Hugo called "Varios Nombres" from 1986 very expensive, 1 for sale for €360.00 and another one called "Oriental", but also very expensive, 5 for sale bettween €100.00 till €250.00, so hopefully they will ever reissue these killers

No creo le erres al tarro , Charly y Spinetta conocían a los fatorusso desde la época de los Shakers, fueron muy influenciados por ellos en una entrevista Charly lo dice , se escapaba del colegio para ver a los Shakers.

Brilliant. Had never heard of this. Can only read the English comments. Sounds like before the well known Golden Wings album. Some of this was on that with the additions of the likes of Airto helping out.
Airto guested on a couple of the records in the 70's (if I'm not mistaken) as did Flora Purim. This was and is an amazing group; I have a special place in my heart for these guys as I grew up very close and playing music with Hugo's (the pianist) oldest son, himself a very talented musician. For a while there - when I was about 15 or 16 we used to have asados (barbecue) at Alex's house (Hugo's son) and Osvaldo, the drummer here (and Hugo's brother) would always come and eat in family...We would play him cassettes of what we'd done in the studio over the weekend and he would get so emotional that he would sometimes cry!! Hugo - who lived in Brasil during those years - and I finally met about a decade later in Europe at the Nice Jazz Festival; I was there with Meshell NdegeOcello and he with Milton Nascimento - he worked as Milton's piano player and Musical Director for many many years. So you see...this is my tribe...They are musical family for sure!! I haven't met Rubén Rada yet (El Negro) and I look forward to connecting with him at some point soon...I long to visit my native Uruguay and really connect with my country of birth; my family moved to Buenos Aires when I was almost 5yrs old. I moved to the Washington DC area in 1984 approx. I'm so happy you've discovered this gem!! Enjoy

Te recomiendo a Los Shakers. El baterista vivió en Venezuela muchos años.
Opa y totem son dos de las mejores joyitas que nuestros hermanos uruguayos le regalaron al mundo. Que hermoso!
