Am I Too Old To Start Singing?
I get asked this question all the time.
The voice is a muscle (actually a group of muscles), and like any muscle in your body, with good training, it will grow even into your 70's.
Obviously not as quick and robust as in your 20's, but grow it will if you are willing to put in the time and effort with proper training.

I started Ken's course a while back. I was already what most people would call old then. My voice is better now than ever, and it keeps getting better the longer I do what Ken teaches. You just have to get started and keep going. If you do the work, and stick with it, you will reach and surpass your goals. It was the best decision I ever made. Choose to succeed.

@highmtnx Do you follow and do the courses on RUclips or have you actually attended the vocal academy? I've really been working hard to get Nobody's Fool to sound great. I have more of a soprano voice, and trying to sing it like Tom is very hard.
@highmtnx How long did it take you to get where you wanted? I love Ken's classes and how he teaches you to use your voice. I'm just nervous. Singing anything by Tom Keifer is intimidating. I watched Ken do a break down of Nobody's Fool and I'm really trying. I'm a soft spoken southern girl so I have to let my inner monster out
Tomorrow I will start my very first singing class ever. I'm 45. The thought that I am too old to start to learn to sing has been plaguing me since I signed up two weeks ago. Thank you for this.

Hey Ken! Never too old to learn anything. Some of the best singers are still going strong. Jon Anderson is 80. Stevie Nicks is now in her 70's. I think they both sound incredible!!!👍👍🎙🎙😎😎

You're never too old..I'm 62,female & last year started doing an Urban Combatives self defense class... I 💜 it..i started this singing class a few years ago & need to get back in it
Hey Ken! Thanks for the videos! I'm 54 years old and started singing a little over a year ago. I sing a least 30 minutes every day mostly in my car on the way to work (some days drills others working on songs) and once a week for my vocal lessons. I have seen much improvement over the year and will keep plugging way. Singing has brought a ton of enjoyment into my life and I believe I am generally a happier person day to day because of it...

I remember the first time I stumbled across videos teaching me vocal warm ups and i heard the person demonstrate a lip trill, i thought to myself "ah, so sound like a baby again, to sing well. Got it." Didnt help that after the trills, the video said to sing 'goog' to the piano keys. Lmao. But honestly those, combined with humming and mumming every day have made a noticeable difference in just freeing up my voice.

After I had my first baby I lost my teeth.
She took the Calcium from my body
and my teeth went bad and had to be pulled. Ever since lip drills suck, I will be honest. I can't make my lips vibrate like that anymore. You suggested humming. That is easier. But I don't want easy, I want Stevie Nicks. Advice?

I'm trying to do Ken's course , and I'm learning. I'm a flight medic so time is something I don't have a lot of but you make time for the things you love. Thank you, Ken. You gave me inspiration and by the time I get ready to sing in our Battle Of the Bands, I'll nail it. Unless I run off the stage screaming lol. No, I won't run. I just hope I don't butcher some awesome songs. I'll keep watching your lessons and practicing. I accidentally liked my own comment lol. Sorry. I'm new to all this.

What if your "singing" voice is really bad, say a small 1 or 2 octave range with a very early break (and giant gap) to "falsetto?" I put those two words in quotes because the sound that comes out of my mouth when I try to "sing" would be an insult those terms. My singing voice is so bad, I don't even sing happy birthday at a kid's party in a room full of people!
You have to begin at the beginning and you have to use what you've got. From there you grow.

Hey Ken! thanks you for all the exercises , techniques you gave us. Can you simplify to me the equipment you have or use as microphone , speaker, sound effects equipment all this will help me. The other day i was shocked I did know but i didnt know what a powerful voice I have from several people. I really dont believe what people say but if they like it well. I like opera, I am into the flageolet is the style now, on this let me know if you have an extra video or videos about it . thanks

Glad to see all of that negative press has finally expired its 15 minutes. I've watched Mr. Tamplin's content for some time now and it's always inspiring. The singers he features are great and even watching their progression over time is remarkable. You're an asset to humanity in my opinion Mr. Tamplin. @kentamplin very true, but I would have a horrible voice not too mention I had surgery years ago and wouldn't be able to sing as good as you. Or Rick Springfield, one of my favorites
