This is AWESOME! Thanks so much for breaking it down and explaining it so even a non musician can understand. We are discussing this song on our John Hiatt A to Z podcast tonight and I'm so glad to have been able to learn more about what John does musically. Please join us sometime.

One of the best lessons I’ve ever seen. Thanks for the inspiration to learn a new tune with some cool stuff going on I couldn’t quite pick up given my lack of experience. Cheers!

Great lesson, great song, the timing of the chord changes is the same as Tom Petty's "Learning to Fly".

Btw, he does a song called Icy Blue Heart that has amazing lyrics and uses some sus chords along with an unusual strumming pattern that really gives it a great feel

My son and I play that one together - great song to learn variations of simple chords - fun to play!

Putting comments about other similarly, corded songs is distracting. Stay focused.
