Paddle Steamer Waverley at Ilfracombe Harbour May 2024

(unscheduled video) Great to see this paddle steamer again for the first time in many years, bizarrely was locked into the closed jetty with Waverley & Harbour staff while it underwent oil top-up and a roped move further up the Pierhead to allow passengers a safer entry.
I then sprinted over to the other side of the Harbour which is a simple task at low water but is over half a mile at high water just in time to see it leave.

Thanks, saw at the time on the Bay cam - wondered why it was going back and forth. Saw it last year when it docked doing a round trip from I think from Clevedon, around Lundy, then Penarth & back to Clevedon - that is some day trip !

Was actually filming another video near Coastguard cottages & spotted it approaching so quickly charged back over to the Harbour asap.

The last sea going paddle steamer.. interestingly her paddles aren't Independent, which is why she has such a large turning circle !
