  • The world’s last seagoing paddle steamer arriving in Liverpool on a nice pleasant evening. Paddle steamer Waverley is registered on The National Historic Fleet as being a vessel of pre-eminent national significance. She has operated in preservation since 1975 and become a “national treasure” carrying over 6 million passengers.
Waverley is the sole survivor and has become an icon in her own lifetime.
We see her arriving of New Brighton, and gracefully heading south on the River Mersey, on her way to the Cruise Terminal.

Hi Mersey Shipping, Wow what a catch. I sailed on the "Waverley" from the Pier Head to Llandudno over 40 years ago. It was a nice day out. I can still smell the Beef they were cooking, it was mouth-watering. She slowed down very early as she passed New Brighton, not quite sure why she did that. Did you see if she moored at the Pier Head with no assistance from any tugs, as the tide was ebbing, and there did not seem to be a strong current, so she should have coped with no issues.

Excellent video - I love sailing on the Waverley. Hopefully I will get to see her again in later September!
