Hi guys, sorry for bein' such a late blumer, but thanx for this video. I'm lookin' to get a splitter for our needs and this video helped out bunches. Did you ever build the other table for the hoses??? Ithought I heard you say you're from AZ. I lived in Phoenix for 46 years, It sucked... Ithink I'm gonna get the 34 or 40 not sure yet. We live in a similar type of terain, but we have oak too. Thanx again, stay cool folks. Peace from Cabañas Los Peñas, Rochivo, Creel Chihuahua, Mexico...
That table is a Great idea, I have a Champion 27 ton and, I have had a log pc. go off and hit my gas tank and put a dent in it. I Like this. You guys are Tall, hard on back. When that happened they had hose clamps on the filter then hose and they went to a Hyd. fitting. When I got mine from Home Depot the guy that put it together put two of the Hyd. hoses onto the wrong place. I could have been hurt. I called Champion and there service dept. is great. They helped me out. Great Video.
@@RobRussellRanch I have noticed when I go back into my comments to fix maybe a word or make another comment, that I lose the ❤ you gave me. I think it is a you tube thing. I have noticed this on other channels that I add a comment too. Great Video, Thanks.
Thanks for the feed back, these "geniuses" work very hard to make content like this and we would really appreciate you leaving a like and subscribing. That would help us out, thanks again!
When he said. "You can split quite a few cords fairly quickly" I about fell out of chair. I use the same spliter and maybe work a good bit faster than most and splitting a full cord is several hours of work. Remember, with the typical 16" lengths a full cord is three rows deep, 4 feet tall and 8 feet long. Often people think a "face cord" is a cord; that is one row deep and 4'X8'. In my younger days I would supply my Dad with full cords and that made an impressive wall of wood on his parking area. I think my platform may be mounted wrong as explained by another response. Don't forget your ear protection!
Its a great piece of equipment other than that one flaw. My other video, where I cover the modification, has some better better angles you might be looking for
That small yellow rack on the operator side of the splitter is mounted incorrectly, which can result in the wood being trapped between it and the wedge, which can result in the wedge being crammed into the "C" channel on the other side of the beam and bending it. The assemblers are mounting the racks upside down, which gives it the up curve, but it should be flipped so the rack is level with the beam. Home Depot had to replace my splitter as a result of the "C" channel and the rack being bent.
Oh I see what you're talking about, I think as long the operator is conscious of how the log is moving this shouldn't be a problem, since the hydraulic can be reversed at any time
This is the 2nd FULL year I have mine, I love it, except the log catchers are too small, & if you leave it outside & it rains even once, it fills air filter, carb, cylinder with water, besides that, no complaints, it’s a tank

I like that larger table you made!

I'm going to add a table to my 27 ton champion. Keep up the good work. 👍
Thank you, I'm glad you found my video helpful

I just bought this splitter last week and found the need for a larger deck too. Please post some photos of the build please.

Wow we had no idea this was an issue, looks like we solved a problem without even knowing it
@@RobRussellRanch The problem is on the small rack near the operating handle.

Do you sell that table you made ?

Haven't had issues with rain yet, we usually throw a tarp over it, but I'll definitely make sure it's on when it rains. Thanks for the input 👍
5, 6, 700#..nice
Can you show the air filter ?
I got a 11/16 piece of foam for an air filter. SEE MY VIDEO EXPLAINING WHAT CHAMPION SENT ME FOR AN AIR FILTER !
We recently moved and my splitter is kinda buried at the moment, but I'll take a look at your vid!
great video. i didnt even think about ground clearance and that hydraulic tank. good point. @theloghog
Thanks, I thought I'd give everyone an honest non-sponsored review. I think it turned out fairly good
