I am with TY for the number one rank, since it came out in the extension pack for my switch, I’m always trying to beat my latest score from it while going through the entire Lilette system with the team, as well as for the Mario 64 game, the camera was the only reason why I didn’t wanted to keep playing it, sunshine almost reminded me of that too

Great list from both of ya! Here's your choices ranked by none other than me!!!
    09. Goldeneye: I'm shocked at how popular this game is. It doesn't interest me in the slightest. I will give it props, however, for being a licensed movie adaptation that most believe actually worked!
    08. Banjo-Tooie: Yet another game I haven't played. Still, I feel like this is closest to the formula of a game I would play over my previous entry.
    07. Mario Kart 64: As someone who has played this game many times, I'm not convinced it is the better racer over Diddy Kong. Yes, the series as a whole is. However, as just the N64 variant, I think DK wins. There are more types of vehicles, a hub world, and even boss battles! Plus Conker! Even if it is virgin Conker!
    06. Super Smash Bros: It would go on to launch one of the absolute best fighting games of all time, but in it's infancy, it's...okay, if a bit dated.
    05. Conker's Bad Fur Day: Absolutely love it for all the reasons it should be loved! It's clever, foul mouthed, and context sensitive! Conker is great as a character! It is, however, somewhat marred by it's gameplay. The types of gameplay are all over the place and often not as comfortable as one would like. I do think that the humor is genuinely good!
    04. Mario 64: Gotta give it up to a classic! This game deserves every bit of the praise it gets for not only being a fantastic platformer, but for revolutionizing the genre entirely! The environments are varied and interesting! It also proved that video games could work in a 3D space!
    03. Star Fox 64: The thing that makes Star Fox 64 great is that it such a simple pick up and play game. With it's branching paths, you have a great amount of replayability, but the actual campaign can be done within an hour or two! There alternate and secrete paths, on top of the fact that the game kind of divides into three (at least two) separate difficulty modes depending on the path you take!
    02. Majora's Mask: I have only actually played this game once. However, during that playthrough, I did pretty much everything! It's no surprise to myself that both of the Zelda titles are at the top spots. They deserve to be. Both of the N64 games are like two sides of a coin. Ocarina makes YOU feel like a hero. Majora's mask makes you feel for everyone else...
    01. Ocarina Of Time: One of, if not the best game of all time. Certainly the best game of it's time! This game truly set you on an adventure! To this day, I'm still surprised how big this game is. It's epic in both Scope and scale! To this day, it still has some of the best dungeons in the series! An absolute classic and by far the best N64 game by a wide margin!

Johnny picked some good ones, I can give him that. Much like the PlayStation lists I've done with Aaron, I find more fun in arcade-like experiences than I do with immersive adventure games. I love Banjo, but I like my games where I can jump in, play for however long I want, and make some progress in little time.

  • @AlefSousa017
    @AlefSousa017 Год назад +3

Great lists! I grew up with the N64, and I still consider it my favorite system of all time, and I honestly don't know if I could come up with a top 5, but I'll try it, even if it might change in a couple days haha. I'll also do one game per franchise to make it a bit more varied!
    5. Conker's Bad Fur Day: I'm picking Conker right now, but I feel that there are SO MANY games that could've made it into this list, especially Rare ones like Diddy Kong Racing and Donkey Kong 64, but I have to go with my guts and just pick Conker just because of everything it brought to table at the time. Being a mature game with a cutie artstyle and was already a huge selling point for me. And, being in Brazil, not many people knew how deep it went with its themes, so I was just able to rent it no problem as a kid in our local gaming shop hahah. As with many games around here, I couldn't understand a single thing that was written or being said in the game, but it was just so bizarre and out there that I fell in love with it. As you guys said, the gameplay wasn't anything major, especially when compared to other Rare platformers powerhouses, but the fun thing about this game was just how crude it was with its cutscenes and movies references. Later, when understading english a bit better, then the game really hit me with its humour, and I'm sad seeing that Conker is kinda abandoned by Microsoft. Also, the multiplayer was SO MUCH FUN with all of its different modes and all that, a great game overall!
    4. Majora's Mask: What is there even to say about this game that haven't been said before on the internet? I love some Ocarina of Time and been having a lot of fun lately with it playing randomized runs, but I've always prefered MM, even as a kid growing up. it just felt so different from OoT, even it reused a lot of characters and assets. It had a really interesting gameplay loop and world that it fascinated me right out of the gate, I remember I was so excited to play it prior to its release by seeing it EVERYWHERE in gaming magazines, I still think I haven't been as excited for any other game than as I was for this one. And when I finally played it, I wasn't disappointed at all. I'm not gonna lie and say I totally grasped the whole 3-day system right out of the gate, but even without properly understanding it, it was just so fun. Even redoing stuff that I had already done was fun, so yeah, MM is simply great.
    3. Star Fox 64: I'll always have a soft spot for this game, so many memorable lines growing up. I didn't know a single word in english back when I first played it, being a kid growing up in Brazil and all that, but I could replicate most of the lines just because of how unique and memorable they were. Not only that, but the gameplay has always been so fluid and amazing, and the fact that you could go to different planets depending on what you did or didn't do in the stage were mind blowing for me at the time, being able to have a unique playthrough each time I played. And as an adult, I began going after high-scores in each stage and there are so many details in the levels that completely went over my head as a kid, to the point where it made me fall in love with the game again as an adult playing it.
    2. Pokémon Snap: I'll die on this hill if I must, but Snap has the best sense of adventure and exploration out of ANY Pokémon game. You're not thinking about battling or anything in this game, but rather, you're just observing each Pokémon in their own habitats, doing their own thing. At the time, this was out of this world. After Snap came out, the pokémon really felt like living creatures instead of just being some pixels on a tiny screen. I come back to this game so often and it's always a joy to play. I really enjoyed New Pokémon Snap and it was a dream come true after 20+ years of waiting, but I also feel that it's just TOO MUCH, you know? I prefer the original one just because of how easy it is to see and do everything in it in just one sitting. I've had so much fun in it back then competing with my whole family to see who could take the best pictures, some really fond memories for me.
    1. Banjo-Kazooie: Not only my favorite game on the N64 but also my favorite game ever, so this was the easiest to pick. I love Tooie as well, but I think nostalgia might be a big part in this: BK was literally the first N64 game I've ever booted up. I love how Tooie was able to literally expand on everything that BK brought to the table, but I still feel that Kazooie is more memorable, charming and unique overall. Exploring Grunty's lair by itself was alread so much fun, with the instrumentation changing between the areas of the castle. And then the soundtrack for each world was unique (especially when comparing it to Mario 64, with its repeating tracks) and so much fun. It kinda felt like playing a cartoon for me! And the levels and challenges are all so much fun, and even though I couldn't understand a single thing I was reading back then, I still somehow was able to understand that the game was funny, so yeah, easiest pick in this list for me.

Honestly, these are great choices. The Nintendo 64 online Switch library is pretty good at the moment, definitely improved from its launch last year, but it could be better!
I truly hope an update changes the rating from E to T to E to M and gives Conker a chance of being added. Just like with Banjo-Kazooie that original N64 game has not left the N64. It's been remade and enhanced from Xbox but the original version is still stuck on N64 so hopefully, Nintendo does some magic and gets that game on there, as well as Banjo-Tooie.
Donkey Kong 64, Diddy Kong Racing, and Super Smash Bros are also a must for the service. Hopefully, they get announced sometime next year.

Honestly, Bajo Kazooie is a better-crafted game compared to Tooie, the music is better, the worlds are better, dialogue and characters are as well. Most or all of the people that tell me Tooie is better, have coincidentally played it before BK, and then when they go back to BK they feel the lack of variety or that the worlds are smaller and not interconnected, but that doesn't make it worse at all. You don't use Mario Kart 8 to judge Mario Kart 64. When evaluating them individually, Banjo Kazooie is the king.

I combined both Zelda games and Rare shooters as all 4 of those games deserve to be at the very top - by a LOT. But man did I have a ton of fun with a myriad of multiplayer games during my college years!!

My top five as of right now, may change when I play more games, and this isn’t nostalgia speaking or my top 5 would be different but it’s:
    1: Donkey Kong 64
    2: Majoras Mask
    3: Ocarina of Time
    4: Diddy Kong Racing
    5: Mario Kart
Once I complete Conker then that may come on the list, I am about quarter done. Same with both Banjo games. I had plans to play a Banjo game earlier this year but I ended up playing and finishing Nuts and Bolts instead and I very much enjoyed that game.

I like Johnny's list better. 2 Zelda + 2 Rare Platformers + Smash make for a better list albeit not as much variety.
    1. Super Mario 64
    2. Zelda OoT
    3. Banjo-Kazooie
    4. Harvest Moon 64
    5. Super Smash Brothers
I would never have put SM64 in the top spot 20 years ago because I would've thought it to plain and generic. It's just the most important game from the 90s next to Doom & Street Fighter II. A lot of the sequels to N64 games surpassed the originals, but to me they may have just overcomplicated things. Banjo 1 and Zelda 64 have a good easy to follow along flow while the sequels were too confusing. I'll never forget a good stretch of time when I was playing RE2 & Harvest Moon 64 back-to-back frequently. They were polar opposites on the stress/fear vs relaxing scale. Smash 64 is just best party game other than Mario Party 2, while being the beginning of a legendary crossover fighter series.

All these games are definitely top of the line for the N64 for sure, but I'm disappointed that even though I saw GoldenEye I didn't see it spiritual successor perfect Dark which is a much better game. To be honest my top five probably changes a lot. I'm sure if this was a top 10 Diddy Kong racing would have been in there.
