Yup, that's Jojo for a newcomer. It doesn't always have to make sense so long as it's believeable within the scope of the series itself. Which therein lies the problem since it could be ANYTHING, as there's very little of the 'I must be stronger than you to beat you'. It also probably doesn't help that each part kind of has a different theme, so it feels different. It's hard to make those connections without context. Plus it's really not shy about adding in the things that really do make you feel uncomfortable or vunerable. Don't quote me on that but I think I remember hearing that Araki had some inspiration down the line from Junji Ito; I can see some influences with respect to the body horror. I'd highly recommend picking up some Ito manga in your own time, but I will give you a warning that they're not for everyone and have an uncanny ability to draw terror from everyday things. Do not under any circumstances go after the anime adaptation of a few stories. It doesn't translate too well into anime and was actually hilarious rather than creepy
