I LOVED this!!! I'm deaf myself and i come from a family full of deaf ppl. I totally agree with him, all we want is for hearing ppl is to have an understanding we are human too 🤞🏽.
It would be great to add or enable captions on this so the Deaf viewers watching could have access to tWitch’s interview questions! Awesome seeing more representation on the show!
@@rachelmendenhall8325 Yeah try that. Go ahead, I'll wait. (It doesn't work, it's greyed out on this specific video because TheEllenShow didn't enable even auto-captions let alone provide proper captions.)
Also it says so much that they put the mic on his chest when he signs 😂 C'mon... Put the microphone somewhere it's not going to get hit when we're talking.
"d/Deaf and HoH" (deaf/Deaf and Hard of Hearing) is the term widely preferred by the communities you're referring to. "Hearing impaired" has a negative connotation.
This is what we need to see more of, promote more and Like and heart more on social media. Also, Twitch standing on the side dancing along smiling and looking so in awe is just really beautiful
@@kingabaddonmusic not every deaf person knows sign language(many older people I know don't) and most HoH people don't. I'm HoH and I know sign language, but twitch isn't using it and they switch the camera back and forth too much and too quickly for lip reading to be attempted. Captions are necessary to make it more accessible to the audience.
A good intro/immersion is Switched At Birth which has a lot of ASL. I live in Australia so my local sign language isn't ASL (ours is Auslan) but I've picked up a lot of ASL from watching it.
That guy is my mother's cousin's grand son. Yes he's somewhat related to me and seeing him on ellen is like wow holy smokes. That could be me right there man.
In the US the preferred term is often D/deaf or hard of hearing. Impairment implies that you are broken, defective or have something wrong. People a part of Deaf culture see their deafness as a part of who they are, not necessarily a medical problem or something that is wrong. Just something that is another part of human difference and diversity. So impairment would not be a good term to them. Some people still use impairment but that is often in a medical context and not everyday. If you study Deaf culture in Australia I'm sure you will find many Deaf people who do not like the phrase hearing impaired for similar reasons. Deaf and disabled people are diverse. We do not think a like. Call people what they prefer to be called. Obviously this dancer identities as Deaf and that's ok.

This young man really is amazing. He just want us to be patient with the hearing impaired and not just say "that's ok." So proud of him.

Ooof thought there would be captions on a video about Deaf and hearing communities. Guess, I'll come back when there are captions.
Sign language
What an irony 😅😅😅😅

Maybe you can make the video captioned so it’s actually accessible. Audism and ableism at its finest that the deaf community deals with everyday.
Amazing young man
