I had no idea you were the Get a Roof Get a Gun guy. I remember when all the news channels were talking about you a few years ago. Following the Cherokee build and loving the progress.
Hey!!! Yay, it was crazy!! Loads of fun!
Same here! Nice to see you still getting after it!
Another fun project. You should consider doing a Q & A as well a Pastor Jimmy segment one a week. That guy is hilarious.
I'm sure he'll be back...
Amennnnnnn
Love it! I owned a silver 4d hardtop (1996} and purple 4d hardtop (1994). The only thing you gotta watch is wheel speed in the slop. Axle shaft can snap in a heartbeat if wheelspeed up because of inboard brakes. I wish I never sold the ‘96. Someone made me an offer I could not refuse. They are great vehicles. Mine was civilian version. My first had a 6.2 L nonturbo and upgraded to the second because it had a 6.5 L turbo diesel and a cruise control. Also, my air conditioning and heater actually worked. Plus, the interior was luxurious compared to the military ones I had been in.
nice!! Yeah, the civilian ones have a few needed creature comforts.
The only thing you gotta watch is wheel speed in the slop. Axle shaft can snap in a heartbeat if wheelspeed up because of inboard brakes. Hmm gotta find out what that means
DAMN, whatever project you do is on my bucket list !!
thanks!
Haha! I KNEW I knew you! You did my roof in Conifer! House and garage on the side of a mountain.
Nice to see you've done good for yourself. Keep on keeping on!
Oh, and I still do avionics wiring harnesses.
loved your channel... I have no idea about planes or heavy vehicles ... still loved your vids....
Glad you like them!
Put OEM H1 wheels on it. Them and the Cepek GT's are the only ones that have the correct load rating AND offset. If you put incorrectly offset wheels on a HMMWV/H1 you'll be replacing suspension and ball joints all the time.
good call.
Somehow found your channel and just recently wanting to get into aviation. Been enjoying the content. Advice though blurred out the house numbers in the video or be careful not to publish anything like that. If this channel blows up you never know who is watching. Excited to see the piper in the air.
Thanks and I couldn't figure out how to do that... I'm using apple imovie to edit. Is there something in there that I could use or a simpler program?
@@therealjimmysworld I have no idea how to do it. I don’t make videos myself. I just have heard stories of crazy people finding a little piece of personal information and showing up at peoples house or doxing someone. Doxing is when someone finds out all your personal information like phone number, address, Ssn, birthday all that and they will release it online. It’s been done to some people with huge channels. Just always have to be careful.
very true, and that would suck for that to happen...
I use luma fusion
Man I want that so bad ,you got a. Great eye for cool stuff
👍 Dependable is great to hear, so many times I hear, nothing but problems, if reliable I definitely want to get one.
Holy moly Jimmy, if you don't mind, what do you do for a living ? Just came across your channel due to the HMMWV. 👀👀
That WARNING sign makes me laugh. I actually walked a jeep (M1A2) up a near 90 degree tank trail using the throttle while I used it to pull me up as I walked outside. The seat was what I held onto, so it needs to stay an iron bar frame. That warning sign should be removed and never seen again. If you are going to buy an actual military vehicle, don't take the heart out of it. Those controls are exactly the same in every military vehicle since WW2, any soldier knows every one of them.
Jimmy Barry here from Fredericton New Brunswick Canada again nice Humvee you should put a snorkel kit on it above the windshield for off-road what do you think I would go for it
You got a rare variant since it is a M998,but with the N/A 6.2L & 3L80/TH-400 and NP-218 it would be cool.The 6.5L will do,it must've been retrofitted.
Just don't expect it to be very powerful and have a ton of torque, since the F code is only 190/390 TQ.Back then at the time,Banks had turbochargers for those Detroit 6.2L's,not the 6.5L,that could provide 60 HP/115 TQ,20% better fuel efficiency, and 5-10 PSI of boost. So in a J 6.2L that is 215 HP/365 TQ.But parts from a 6.5L would be alot better, espiecally a turbocharger that can actually supply 13-18 PSI of boost.
The 6.5L from later on puts the 6.2L to shame, with 180-205 HP/360-430 TQ.I own a 1993 M1025,mine has 190 HP/390 TQ and is naturally aspirated too,the later HMMWV/ECV had a completely modernized 6.5L as the P400/6500 and it was turbocharged,1997 was when they updated the 6.5L to 205 HP/430 TQ.
Thanks so much for all the info! I didn't know that!
A hummer! Bummer, you are goofier than I thought. But you redeemed yourself when you said you were selling it 😂
gotta pay for the plane!
Ranches in Texas dig these kind of vehicles, especially the ranches that have commercial hunting operations or other forms of "tourism" (dude ranches). Optimize it for that kind of use. Good luck.
turret .50cal on top?!
@@therealjimmysworld Bahaha
I live in Texas and own a 1993 M1025 HMMWV,this is very accurate...
Dude! You need therapy. Love it!
yes I do! hahaha
a big boat! Dude why not getting also a nice old yacht. Greetings from Germany 😉
That's on the list :) 45'+ Catamaran
You’re a hell of a salesman Jimmy! 😂
hahahaha
Scared to fly but love your videos!
Spent hundreds of hours in HMMWV in the Artillery and I have never been in a less comfortable, more dangerous or difficult to see out of vehicle, ever.
You never drove a 5/4 then, which I guess the hummer replaced. I drove a 5/4 with a commo van strapped to the bed.
Not only could I not see behind me, I could not see behind for a mile in any direction.
That kid seat though 🤣
You need to talk to PRP for the seats and then Method for Wheels. General Grabber tires would be sweet on that beast. I wish I had your play money, I am happy to spend vicariously through you though ;-)
thanks for the suggestion!
I thought that my Land Rover Defender was basic, but compared to your Hummer, it’s high end!
yup!
The difference being you can field strip an original Land Rover with a flat blade screwdriver and a crescent wrench. The Humvee will need a Phillips screwdriver. ;)
Looking good! How much do you think you may sell this for?
Where did you get your doors and slant back?
Great video bro.
Got one too from govplanet
super cool! I got the doors from some guy in CA off steelsoldiers.com and the top & slant back from Plan B in Utah. I'm not a fan of the quality of Plan B though. the first slant back wasn't bent correctly, they did send another, but it took some fab work to get it to "fit". Not a bolt on and go setup for the roof and sland back. :/
That’s a cool vehicle.
Thanks!
Dude!!! That’s badass!!
thanks!
LED lights would be a bright idea!
Seems like it has good bones.
Is it listed anywhere. How can we contact you if your selling this. Im very interested and have been actually looking into getting one myself. Ill take it as is so i can make my own modifications to it. Love the paint job by the way.
Oh, not again. You're already bankrupt from the plane!
yep! gotta sell this to pay for that!
@@therealjimmysworld Smart. Prayers it's not too much money, or you're gonna need _another_ project to pay for this.
@@greensphinx pretty much
I think we have a lot in common. I want to buy a cheap Cherokee 6 and refurbish it and I’d love to have an h1

G,day Jimmy from Sydney, Australia.
* Thanks for showing the simple, but (in Australia) expensive Hummer 4x4.

It's cool to look at and capable off road, but man it's uncomfortable to drive! lol
If you put this camo, it will sell fast
great suggestion, thanks!
@@therealjimmysworld No problem, I'm thinking about doing my whole truck over in CARC green, so far I did the X Doors over and it came out pretty nice. I always notice these sell for a lot more with the original camo than any other color on it
@@therealjimmysworld I saw yours on ebay the other day while browsing through ebay
How the hell do you stay married? You have way too many projects.
Your wife must be awesome 😎
She's pretty much amazing!
@@codpi1358 yes, she is!
Did you sell the Hummer yet? What happen to your website? I looked it up but it goes to a search page.
sold the company that was on the humvee. Still have the truck, got a really sweet surprise soon :)
Sounds like the ex British Military Austin Champ my wife drove as a learner driver!
hahahaha
A very good "Live & Learn" lesson for old dog, ex-Mil. HMMWV wannabe owners!!!
I am curious how you are planning on mounting the bench seat.
They make a short bench that can mount between the 2 normal seats. I've decided not to do that one to leave more room to haul stuff.
You are the best
Man I would have purchased it as is with that on it... It would drive my Dem Nabours nuts!
HAHAHA, that's awesome!
Hi Jimmy what happened to Elvis jet you brought
Detuned means also more reliability, less wear and tear on parts
tuned perfectly for 18yr old privates in the Army... lol
@@therealjimmysworld exactly!!!
Is that grey paint a primer? I think it would look really cool in desert tan camo. Just my opinion of course.
paint. "Granite Gray"
@@therealjimmysworld I know you're all about saving money, but please don't think about repainting the airplane Granite Gray to "save" money 😂😁😁
@@easttexan2933 of course not! Granite is heavy ;)
@@therealjimmysworld well, there is that !! lol
Awesome looking without the wrap, just not as "fun". Do you already have a buyer for your truck? I still have my duramax humvee.
Plan B supply will give you a fair price for your humvee... lol.
I'm kidding.....
But seriously you have a buyer lined up for it? I like your set up. A nice blank canvas/money pit....
Thanks and I agree about the better overall look without the wrap. Plan B... yeah.... Haven't put it out there yet as I haven't had time to finish it. and yes...money pit... most definitely!
Hey Jimmy do you have an idea how many miles are on it? What’s your rough price for selling?
not yet. Once it's done, I'm guessing $45k'ish
You're a hell of a salesman. Is there anything else you can trash about it to bring the price down? LOL
keepin it real! lol
im so jealous! how much you want for it?
When I finish putting it back together it will be ~$45k
Must have tons of money
"had".... not anymore... lol
Did you sold it? I want to buy one :)
No license plate... Its it registered? Getting these military Hummers registered is very difficult
removed the license plate for paint. Yep, totally street legal and current registration :) hint: Montana is where you want to be :)
@@therealjimmysworld Utah isn't bad either
If u still have it for sale they is a place in GA that will buy I bc they do engine swaps and sell them
It's time for high powered model rockets?
is it sold yet..
not yet, still sitting in my garage waiting it's turn after the airplane is done... one day.... lol
Dude! What is wrong with you ha ha
No honestly I love learning from your Piper project and am going to build something similar at some point soon (gots to get a very nostalgic L-4 done first), And now this.. I drove this with oldschool 147mm anti-tank rockets mounted on it in the Danish army when I got drafted in 2001 (Denmark as in Skandinavian).. I had no idea they were that old but honetly, I'm not surprised.. Please keep this coming and let us know what you're aiming getting for that piece of.. errhm history..
I was thinking of putting a sim fire .50cal on the roof... hhhhmmmmm
@@therealjimmysworld What stopped you? Ha ha
You're dating me Jimmy. I retired from Uncle Sam's Army in 1980; just as those were starting to be used.
lol
Off by a few years. The M998 HMMWV didn't proceed into production until 1/2/1985 and back to 1983,it was only a prototype.
I own a 1993 M1025,last year for the DD 6.5L to have MFI & DB2's before being updated to EFI & DS4's,even though horsepower & torque were still the same until 1997.
I've worked on tons of these by now, they're great trucks actually, but the M1113-M1167 ECV is a slow slug and sitting snail...Using a obsolete engine and transmission on a truck with armory, alone with a 6.5L V8 that looks like a joke next to a Cummins and Navistar Powerstroke because of how low the torque was back when it was brand new,it's not a very heavy duty engine, even though they changed that towards the final years of production.
It was a cheap move for AM General to get a license and rights from General Motors to just keep them in restricted production when they were discontinued because of the Isuzu Duramax. But now we have the Oshkosh JLTV/LATV with the LBZ and 2800SP,when the Duramax and Allison is what they should've easily done and was possible in every way twenty years ago,but better late than never as someone would say. What's insane is that the same outdated diesel engine and transmission in the HMMWV/ECV is still used thirty years later in foreign countries for alternative variations of the same vehicles. And on top of that, the JLTV is only used in combat now,but they still won't retire the HMMWV's until another twenty years. They always find a excuse to hold onto vehicles, for the most part.
I verified what you said Jimmy and it is correct. I spent my last year of service at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama and I distinctly remember riding in a vehicle that resembles a HMMWV. It was not an M151 that I am very familiar with, nor the old M38 jeep. But my ageing brain is not that far gone. So at this point I just know that I rode in something that resembled a HMMWV. But I don't know what is was. To tell the truth, ancient though they are, I still have a fondness for the old M38 and the A1 variant.
Cuánto cuesta uno muy lindo
I'll be putting it for around $45,000 usd
Jimmy, fix the airplane first!
