Gee, Nancy, I love my foilpress. I almost exclusively use dies that foil and cut, and I can do that in a single pass with the foilpress. I only use low heat and I am very careful to keep my platform unplugged between passes so maybe that's why I don't get the warping problem. I appreciate that you demo on the foilpress. The betterpress dies are gorgeous!
I was so glad you did the butterflies in purple! Love me some butterflies, & well yanno, I'm a tee tiny lil bit fond of purple 😄. They came out amazing! Once my checkbook recovers from the laser printer, betterpress is next in my list. Then I'll have to buy probably the glimmer, so I can do double duty with the plates. 🤭
You’ve likely tried this but I have been successful with running the foilpress thru the Gemini jr face down after a foiling session (with no plate inside) and sometimes I leave the foilpress plate under the Gemini jr while it cools. I am sure I need to go to a new platform, but this has extended the life. I have both this and the glimmer (gift) so I am able to only use the CC foil on the foilpress which helps. If I have a longer foiling session the warping happens even using low heat foil. I really like the foilpress for foiling on my photo cards since I don’t want them damaged by high heat but am disappointed manufacturer won’t address the issue. I’ve been really frustrated by other card makers that only represent certain manufacturers and have upgraded to fancier die cutting electronic machines AND a platinum 6 machine AND a glimmer machine AND a betterpress. I can’t afford 4 new machines and don’t have space!! Thank you for sharing.

Yes Nancy , I bought the foil and press after your recommendation, even on low it warps, yes it is annoying but it still produces a good image. I to hope they come out with a platform that does not warp.

I love your honest assessments. I am not a Christmas person but going to dign up for BetterPress club for next month. I like the clubs when first starting something new, I got so many beautiful foils and pkates from them at a discounted price. It is very easy to join and to stop great customer service set up
Yes I'm a little frustrated with the warping too. And if I had a different die cutting machine I probably would have gotten a Glimmer. But it is what I it is. Thank you for all you do.
I love foiling with my FoilPress and haven't had the warping issue. However, I do have two new foil platforms in case this happens, as the FoilPress sheets are harder to come by, especially the gold. It's great to have another option with the Better Press plates. Thanks for sharing your information.
I'm glad I went ahead and ordered the Betterpress plate to foil. I can't really afford the actual Betterpress but if I can get nice results without it, I'm not as sad. The minc uses pre-printed toner designs which are easier and cheaper to acquire. I would start there. HOT foiling machines require special hot foil plates and foil which is an investment. I don't recommend the Foilpress over the Glimmer because of the warping platform issue.
YAY! Thanks so much for this tutorial! I love those purple butterflies and the tip about the backing color for heat level. Is there a way to know which Crafty Critta foils have the white backing?? Unfortunately, I am so vested in the Foilpress having bought extra plates in both platform sizes and foils during a US warehouse clearance, and bought the BetterPress, I just can't afford to switch to the Glimmer. 😢 Have no clue what CC plans for the foilpress as they don't keep foils and other supplies in stock like they used to, but yet Craig recently did a Foilpress masterclass about a month ago. Thanks again!!
They are so pretty. I know how frustrated you are with the platforms, mine doesn't do that so much. The design of the platform is nice because it doesn't move. It's just too bad. I wonder why they won't fix it. Just don't get it. Thanks Nancy. Love the kitchen!
Someone mentioned that the slot opening for the Gemini and the empress is the same and that you can potentially use the Gemini foil press with the empress. Is that true?

Yes if you only use Gemini foil on low, no warping issues.

The minc uses pre-printed toner designs which are easier and cheaper to acquire. I would start there. HOT foiling machines require special hot foil plates and foil which is an investment. I don't recommend the Foilpress over the Glimmer because of the warping platform issue.

No their foil is a higher heat transfer foil. Use medium heat 25 seconds or high heat for 15 seconds.
I am sorry you are having warping issues. So far I haven’t had any issues.
