Thomas gets away with a lot of cheap shots, including that one on CC which should’ve been a flagrant. She gets away with setting illegal screens. Against the Mystics, as the defender, Samuelson, was trying to fight around the screen, Thomas stuck her leg out even farther, tripping Samuelson (who has had a torn ACL and now wears a brace). In tonight’s games against the Sparks, she stuck both her elbows, out as the defender tried to go thru the screen she set, but no foul was called.

The thing about all this hype. None of it is from Caitlin herself. She’s talking up everyone but herself. Even with this current AR injury, she was nothing but sincere and respectful. So much of the disrespect is coming directly from the players, or commentators themselves. They’re the ones creating all this drama.
As for so many of these records CC’s near breaking, or actually breaking, aren’t just rookie records, they’re overall records. Just imagine how she’ll be with a few years behind her. What’s coming at us is going to be so amazing.
What don’t all these haters understand……If they’ed just get on board with Caitlin, and go along and support her, the WNBA could wind up hitting heights we can’t even imagine.

"I do believe she's on the verge of breaking even more records...." Clark has 306 assists. The WNBA record for assists in a season is 316. Clark has four games to get the 11 she needs to break the record. Alyssa Thomas' record, by the way. Sucks to be her.

Carrington definitely didn't mean it as an actual 'prediction', as she was joking/trolling Thomas. Thomas is her teammate who had just broken the previous assists record last year, so nobody should actually believe that Carrington was actually trying to support Clark there.

@@boxingandbulldogs6341 You can go ahead and live on that island by yourself and a few select others if you like. I already gave you some context, while your only 'evidence' is "no smiley faced emoji or lol" - like no one has ever made a sarcastic post without those, c'mon now. And you say that Carrington's praised Clark's passing on "multiple occasions" - would love to see that, but especially before she entered the league (which again, the tweet we're referring to here was during the college season still). But you want more context, no problem:
First, to restate but with more detail: Carrington and Thomas have been teammates for 4 yrs. During that time, Thomas was top 3 in assists the past 3 yrs including breaking the all-time record last year, so Carrington knows how great a passer Thomas has been firsthand.
So ask yourself: what's more likely when Carrington tweeted that on the day of the National Championship game (where Clark had 5 assists, after having 7 in the semifinal - ok/good numbers but not exactly spectacular numbers that would by themselves lead to such a tweet): that Carrington literally meant that Clark had a chance to break her teammate's record just set last year before seeing her play one minute in the WNBA, or that she was teasing her teammate a bit? You really believe that Carrington wanted to actually risk real beef within her own team by truly believing that Clark as a rookie would out-assist Thomas the 10 yr vet and 5-time all-star?
Next, there is actually some evidence that Carrington has mocked/jabbed at Clark before, so it hasn't been all roses (and btw, where are all these "multiple occasions" Carrington's praised Clark's passing - and especially when she was still in college, which was when this tweet of hers was from): Carrington mocked Clark to the crowd right in front of her for so-called flopping after she pushed her during their 3rd meeting, and has called out Clark for not being vocal enough in speaking out against racism (which Clark has done, just not enough for her and some others).
So again, ask yourself, given the context so far: what's more likely, that Carrington genuinely wanted to make a prediction of Clark beating Thomas and everyone else out in assists this year, or that Carrington was at least mostly if not entirely sarcastically joking/trolling.
Finally, you wanted emojis, well there's Thomas' response to Carrington where she does use an emoji and the word "play". That's a very plausible response to a teammate's trolling. Yes, you can think of it as a serious response to a serious 'prediction', but it seems like she could've said a bunch of other things if she really thought that Carrington was serious. This one's not as solid of a reason as the other two, but it does offer some context, at least as much as your missing emoji/lol claim does.

However, coming in as a rookie with a $30 million Nike deal (which is actually too low for Clark), being only the second basketball player since Jordan to get a Wilson deal and coming in with MILLIONS of fans, those girls just couldn’t deal.

Sad that someone is hating on another person just because the other person has more skill or talent. Y’all need to stay focus and stop taking jabs at Clark. The WNBA needs to start cracking down on the players that are doing this crap on purpose. Someone could possibly get hurt or fall and hit the back of their head killing them. Knee injuries can take an athlete out a season or possibly forever.
