Thank God for RUclips! Where else could one experience the transcendent and timeless virtuously of legends living and legends lost? Steve Lukather’s otherworldly lead here is beyond jaw dropping, a master class! Edgar does what Edgar ALWAYS does; he commands awe, but shares the spotlight. And then there’s Jeff; a singularly gifted guitarist and a man whose love of the music brings out the complete joy of the moment. I wish that I could have been there to see this live, but since I wasn’t, I’ll say it again. Thank God for RUclips!
As great a musician and performer Edgar is I have always felt his great strength as a musician was in putting together great bands and letting the other performers shine.
And do you know what made Jeff Healy's music so good ? I 'm proudly a Canadian ... and I used to listen to Jeff Healy on a CBC radio program he had many moons ago. He would play music from his (old) record collection. He was more than knowledgeable on music from the 20's, 30's , 40's and 50's. He had great respect for all of those people who sang or performed in those eras. He not only played some of the best screaming rock guitar riffs you'll ever hear in your lifetime, ... but, he was one helluva good piano and trumpet player! All of which is to say ... Jeff Healy's music was sooo good because he had great R-E-S-P-E-C-T for the people who went before HIM. He learned from them . Today, we have performers who learn three chords on the guitar and copy Beatles' phrasings and people think they're "AMAZING" ( an over used phrase for everything) ... when, in actuality, ... the Beatles learned from the SAME sources as Jeff Healy .... that's where it's really at. MUSIC is timeless and, in most cases, beyond genre. Duke Ellington said it best, : "There's only two kinds of music ... GOOD and Bad" . So, regardless of whether it's country, jazz, or blues, ... embrace it all and learn from it . That's what Jeff Healy did, ... and the result is right there in front of your face and ears.
no doubt Jeff was an absolute beast, but there are so many rock star guitarists who were similar in terms of music that inspired them. i'm not sure who you mean "playing 3 chords" or whatever, but usually the mediocre players don't get that much praise. i mean...people don't really think of kurt cobain as a guitar god (and he wasn't) if you listen to enough interviews or read books on the really great players, typically they go pretty far back and learned how to play different styles.
Man why can't you hear the solo by Lukather? Lukather is one hell of a guitarist himself and, holds his own ground. I'm just really surprised not to much acknowledgement is given to Steves' solo on here. Man, it's a hell of a solo too.
Agreed Teddy, his solo was killer hot, the mind wound those strings....Jeff acknowledges it as he did with the horn solo with Winters. One never knew what treasure they would find on the stage at Healeys Roadhouse, this was some killer pickin right here.....Vocals were hot as well....
Having lived not far from Toronto,I have seen Jeff numerous times live in concert. And every time he managed to drain some Tears from my eyes.Same now...not just because he´s gone, but because his music always touches some secret places in my heart for some reason.
What greatness is on that stage!!They read each other like you can not believe is even possible. Everyone of these guys are the reason I love music and the magic that can happen when you all play as one. GOD thank you for their greatness 🙏.
What a tremendous talent Jeff was, simply incredible! Luke and him were vast friends, in fact Luke was one of the last people Jeff spoke too before he died. RIP brother you will be greatly missed!
Your username brings back fond memories of SoCal beaches. My dad built a trailer for my Sting Ray, so I could trailer a couple of long boards down to Santa Monica Beach...I was 8-9 and a solid Beach Boys, Beatles fan. And I played my old Harmony until there were wear spots and the strings hadn't been changed in Lord knows how long... But I'm still picking. And a couple of my old Gods are here on this video!! I learned a lot from each Player and Edgar's Brother as well!
If you don't feel good after watching these guys rock, you suck to the nth degree. Seriously, Jeff Healey came up with a method for playing the guitar...What a rocker...The feel this guy has. What a blessing for us musicians to watch this guy tear up that guitar💪
You're thinking he didn't look at Jimi Hendrix the same way? And Johnny Winter? And Freddie King? And Albert King? You may not have the music background to make this call.
Hendrix had passed by the time Stevie Ray was 15, they never met. Massivebeatzz was stating that Stevie Ray met and discovered Jeff Healey when Jeff was 19, Albert Hall, Toronto 1985. He stated on stage that night, dang- how does he do that...
+sigge ek the response was to sublime music channel on the comment made,.... I realize your comment was on Stevie Ray and Jeff Healey's meeting for sure. Jeff was a real cool cat, saw him play both in concert and in bars, he laid it all out every single time...
I seen him in a club in Niagara Falls and it really was a jaw dropping concert. I knew he good but never dreamed he was a good as he played that night. One of top 10 guitar players I've seen and I saw Hendrix to name a few. :-) Peace
Saw Jeff in the Village in NY Club he was very young not sure the year or club..but Wow just a kid and we knew and later found out that is who we were listening to back in those years
SRV himself said Jeff was the best! Anyone care to argue that point. I'm damn sure not! Absolutely singular talent with such soul in both his voices! Miss you to this day brother!
I vaguely remember writing this three years ago ,but my attitudes haven't changed ... and I can hardly wait for today's tastes and musicians to catch up ... and get back to the future, ... we surely need good music, as we continue to lose guys like Healy, JLL, L'l Richard and Glen (Campbell & Frey).
Lukather is a great guitar player, but he always seems to overplay to the point of being clownish, almost like he needs to prove himself , Healy is the best blues, rock, jazz fusion player , period.
Tremendous talent on stage. Edgar still has blow you away vocals. Jeff Healy is just a class act with great phrasing.. Steve is a great all around performer. What's not to like?
Weirdly, perhaps, I can't stand Lukather. He's such a jerk; he just can't help it: It's who he is. Therefore, my feeling toward him colors everything he does -- for me. Just keepin' it real. (The cutthroat music business can make you jerky as hell, for example, Ike Turner, Jimmy Page, Eddy Van Halen, and a cast of thousands. Which says nothing, of course, against their musicianship; they are two separate things. B.B. King noted this: A player is half man, half musician; when you get goodness in both, grab onto them and keep them close.)
I saw Jeff Healey at my local amphitheater supporting Little Feat. They brought him out for the encore and he blew everyone's mind. The respect Little Feat showed him was obvious. What a loss to music.
These Rock players like Lukather, and Satriani never let the beat breath and tend to overpower the rhythm section on blues. Even Blues Rock guys like Hendrix, SRV, Gary Moore and Healey knew how to find that sweet spot and balance.
Hardly any talent on that stage at all...nah..only some of the most talented musicians ever to play! Hope those people in the audience appreciated what they were blessed to be present at, and only wish somebody had this uploaded in the highest quality possible from their source material, so if anyone has this..and please include the ending!
Thank God for RUclips!

The love my life passed 15 years ago. He was the one that showed me who Jeff Healey was. Miss them both to this day. Thank God the music lives on!

Jeff Healey is a true legend
Fantastic - loved all of it to no end, but especially when Lukather stomps all over on the wah!
Wow, great version i love how Edgar lets his band shine Jeff Healy is incredible.
Steve, Jeff and Edgar at their best. A monumental version.
If you don't feel good after watching these guys rock, you suck to the nth degree. Seriously, Jeff Healey came up with a method for playing the guitar...What a rocker...The feel this guy has. What a blessing for us musicians to watch this guy tear up that guitar💪
I love how Jeff spanked em all with the initial clean solo he did.
my god Healey was a MONSTER of a player. X-Men
R.I.P. Mr. Healey.....We Love Ya Brother....
So touching to see Winter singing to Healey. Two men who were "different" from their earliest years. But they rocked on with great talent!
These 3 together is amazing to see, what a treat!!😎🔥
Such a great performance , love it so much, unbeatable
Much props to the incomparable Jeff Healey. RIP brother.
" Incomparable" ... Absolutely !!!

Shreddin at it's best. Jeff Healey is something else, wow.
Mesmerizes me to watch and hear Jeff play. RIP brother... you are so missed by the music heads all around.
What more can be said about Jeff Healey? He was just awesome!
I saw a video where Jeff and Stevie played together, they both had big smiles on their faces and after the song Stevie hugged Jeff not once but twice.
Jeff H, the only guy Stevie Ray Vaughan looked at and said..."dang - how does he do it?"
You're thinking he didn't look at Jimi Hendrix the same way? And Johnny Winter? And Freddie King? And Albert King? You may not have the music background to make this call.
I think Massivebeatzz is reffering to a show they did together. :)
Hendrix had passed by the time Stevie Ray was 15, they never met. Massivebeatzz was stating that Stevie Ray met and discovered Jeff Healey when Jeff was 19, Albert Hall, Toronto 1985. He stated on stage that night, dang- how does he do that...
Lorraine Gagnon I know Hendrix time had passed by the time Stevie was 15. Maybe i missunderstood him or her.
+sigge ek the response was to sublime music channel on the comment made,.... I realize your comment was on Stevie Ray and Jeff Healey's meeting for sure. Jeff was a real cool cat, saw him play both in concert and in bars, he laid it all out every single time...
Saw Jeff at one of his first shows. Like seeing Hendrix before he was well known. The amount of talent in this vid is ridiculous, Edgar and Steve wow
I seen him in a club in Niagara Falls and it really was a jaw dropping concert. I knew he good but never dreamed he was a good as he played that night. One of top 10 guitar players I've seen and I saw Hendrix to name a few. :-) Peace
Oh Jeff we miss you so much
I am just sitting here shaking my head watching Jeff stroke that fret board... The man was a genius!
I honestly shed some tears over, JH when he died.
From the time Steve said Edgar Winter it set the vibe.Edgar Winter Legend! The others drew inspiration after that.
So I could say the same from each one get inspired by each others vibes..actually Jeff Healey is the most talented of the 3..so there
Edgar is such a southern gentalmen god bless you sir

That Lukather dude is pretty good, too.

Very good love Edgar jeff and Luther good
Some time ago there was some great videos where these three were jamming at some club together. Anyone who`s got them?
Jeff, a class on his own
Only shame is that Jeff Healy couldn’t be with us longer! He was a true phenom!
