I'm digging this and it makes me want to see you guys play the Chzo Mythos games (5 Days a Stranger, 7 Days a Skeptic, Trilby's Notes, and 6 Days a Sacrifice).
Continuing the "no-shotgun run" tradition the scary games squad *immediately* fires the only bullet into the wall the moment they obtain the gun. Good work bois. You're making papa proud here.
I was slightly disappointed that none of them recognized that line. Especially given that one of them made a reference to Oregon Trail early on in the recording.
As someone who only knows about Oregon Trail through general appreciation of video game history, I don’t know the context of this reference. I assume there’s a mechanic in Oregon trail that reduces how much loot you take form an encounter involving meat?
Character says the Vatican wouldn't approve of him going there. Jesse and the others then proceed to think the article saying he's not a priest couldn't possibly be the Vatican lying.
Gamer instict. If you know where to go, explore every other possible place first, in case the story moves along and the previous easter eggs/items/whatever are lost forever.
It took until 1:07:47 for someone to ask "who wrote kill her then?" even though it's in huge letters written in blood. Isn't that the FIRST thing you ask when seeing something like that rather than blindly follow the instruction?!
Fun Fact: "Chaos Reigns" could be a reference to the movie Antichrist, where a character finds a fox eating its own flesh that looks up at him and says the same thing.
Rhotoscoping is such a cool animation technique. Especially in this game. It's very jarring to go to 2 frame walk cycles to such fluid animation. It really makes the game stand out.
Theory time! The first ending has you break a commandment (not killing) because you do not have *faith* that your exhorcism worked. The grey man is the previous priest, and the white creeper is Michael, who kills you because you have killed the one person he was close to out there. The sacrifice is just a cult that you have interfered with by messing up their sacrifice, and the deer are, as you said, the goofy end.

I loved watching them play but yea that fight and then them consistently not being able to follow the paths to find things when they were tryna get all the endings were annoying
Plot twist: You are actually playing as John Constantine, that's why every time the main character talks its a robot voice because he's smoked way too many cigarettes and got throat cancer.
I think what makes it so scary is that Posessed!Amy is animated so smoothly compared to the Atari-style aesthetics, so her animations in context of the game are unnatural-looking and creepy..
For sure. I love great VO/narreators and this was certainly top notch. A:TDD was one of the first game that made me "hell yeah, this VO is super kick ass and affect the gameplay in a great way!" The "only able to carry 25lbs back to the car" is totally an Oregon Trail joke for sure.
Caffeine Crash oh yeah.. no doubt, as soon as I saw it I was like 'why are they not commenting Oregon trail on that?'
I had to pause the video to go to the comments to see if anyone else brought it up because I was shocked they didn't catch it! xD
I was slightly disappointed that none of them recognized that line. Especially given that one of them made a reference to Oregon Trail early on in the recording.
The memories of shooting over 2,000 lbs of meat and keeping 20lbs...

"A gun with one bullet" *Boom*
Goddamnit Jesse.
real talk, this game has more plot than most horror movies.
Where's the lie though?
More engaging too.
american horror movies are hot garbage nowadays
Especially because the protagonist has both a reason to be there, and stay there when the demons begin attacking.
Character says the Vatican wouldn't approve of him going there. Jesse and the others then proceed to think the article saying he's not a priest couldn't possibly be the Vatican lying.
Would the church cover up a scandal?
Wouldn't be the first.
The Vatican could NEVER lie. Liars don't inherit God's kingdom 😉
the ability to take a clue and confidently do the opposite (shed, right instead of left, upstairs instead of downstairs) is impressive indeed.
