They said * Pins, custom made to the homeowner's specs. I'd have my name put on them
They dont even look real i would have to get amf pins
They are white because they got the "cheapo" setup. $139,300
@@gblan as a person who doesn’t understand how much lanes are worth, that doesn’t seem very “cheapo” lol.
I would want 4 lanes because I have a family of 6. My family would love to bowl 3v3 and have the 2 extra lanes for like friends and that. I would typically use house pattern because I just want to have fun.
I’ve been working at aiea bowl for the past 2 years. Starting at front desk, going to mechanic and now I’m a manager. I’ve always wanted to see lanes being built. This is very satisfying
Also one very hard job on the body. I've been a heavy metal fabricator for almost a decade and am close friends with local bowling alley owner so I help with all machine and lane issues. We have installed 10 lanes of synthetics from wood I've worked on a ton of machines helped put gutter and bumpers in and ball returns. And I'm here to tell you that's been harder work than any work as a welder I do most days
Cool, I love it there
Tyler Stine yeah a lot of people don’t really understand the amount of pain and labor a bowling alley mechanic has to deal with. Like yeah there’s a lot harder jobs. But the amount of endurance a mechanic has to go through is crazy. But I love it lol
Any chance Aiea will switch to full synthetic lanes? Just kidding, I could go to almost any other alley on O’ahu for that!

kind of expected people who would install a bowling alley in their house to be better bowlers

I hope my neighbors don't mind that the lane has to go through their living room.

I live in Japan. Building that would require 1/3 of the property that my house sits on, and 1/3 at the property for each of the four adjacent houses.
As an avid bowler I understand how some of you are upset these people are using house balls/shoes but I just looked at their website and the company gives you free equipment with the purchase of the lanes. So maybe it just got installed and they haven't bowled enough to actually buy a proper ball/shoes. Or they just rich as hell and don't care?
I guess they also just bought bowling lanes so they could bowl without socks.
It's not exactly "free." They have three categories of installs. Plain Jane, Mr. Popular, and Rock Star. Obviously, plain jane has the fewest options.
That is probably the case
People making those comments can't even afford a bowling lane in their house.
It says in the video description they got shoes and balls for guests.
It would be SOOOO cool to have your own private bowling 🎳 alley
It would be $50000 cool to have your own private bowling 🎳 alley
I visited their website to check my hunch about the pin-setting machine, it requires 3 phase electric power . Which is common for commercial installations like a bowling alley, however very seldom in a residential home. Thus a solid state phase converter is installed, for additional "hot conductor" Some homes do have 3 phase in areas with larger commercial A/C units or farms where a lot of motors are used.
You can have a phase converter installed (they make both solid state and rotary versions) but you may need to hire an electrician that does Industrial work, so he knows exactly what he's doing.
Alternately you could replace the 3 phase motors with single phase.
$141k for 2 lanes really isn't that bad.
Wondering if the wife will be good with my turning the down stairs into a 2 lane bowling center....

I was so relieved to see this was actual real bowling and not the silly pins with strings.
I worked at a bowling alley for 6 years. Just recently resigned because of better opportunity but didn’t work out. I was the head mechanic for 3 of those years. We had the same GSX machines and I know them like the back of my hand. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a pair installed anywhere. None of us mechanics got a proper training except when I trained people, I trained them how we should have been trained, every detail, pictures of part blow outs, machine blow outs, belts, every little thing just to make sure my employees knew everything I knew. And so they didn’t get hurt or anything, that is the very very very last thing I wanted. I don’t boast about myself or talk about myself in any way usually but I will say I was the best damn employee in that building, and mechanic. Building maintenance, I will say some of those machines problems were such a pain in the ass but I would rather work on these instead of the 8200’s machines.
It's not bragging if you can back it up.
Muhammad Ali
I'd save up to have a small house with a 2 lane alley if i could. Would throw real balls and actually oil the lanes.
Don M The oiling machines can cost $50,000+ alone
BLITZ With only two lanes, I would hand oil it
This company has 2 lane packages that run from $120,000 to $140,000 depending on the options. Yikes!!!!
Glen England
I’m passionate about bowling someday I will do the same it doesn’t matter what the price is me and my family will have a lot of fun and good memories money will come and go but memories will last forever with your family
Glen England Honestly, I looked at the cheaper ones and viewed it as an expensive car, and the more expensive ones as a house. The only time it really gets expensive beyond belief is for four lanes. Two lanes should be enough for most people.
Well that will be fun for 3 days 😩🤣🤣🤣
Yea daughter back on the phone all day cant get the son off the ps4
Exactly, that's why, in reality most people don't have things like this installed because it's nothing more than a novelty.
Thinking the same. The only fun of bowling for most people is getting out of the house and people watching. It doesn't look like any of those people will be joining the tour or need to. Reminds me of that movie "there will be blood" where the oil tycoon beats his son to death with the bowling pin in the basement alley. But it helps the economy, so build a few more lanes.
I would love to have that installed at home so I could practice any time I want
Speaking from the UK, where bowling is a very minor pastime (I have no idea where my nearest bowling alley might be) I love the idea that this is even a thing, let alone that there is enough demand to make a business out of it!
I’d assume most their business consists of maintenance, and I guess they also offer large alleys for public spaces.
Good to see fusion on youtube....
I had my birthday party at the bowling alley when I was a kid and they gave a me a free bowling pin. My goal was to have it there 10 years in a row to have a full set and build my own lane at home.
You can buy used sets for 10-20 bucks when they get changed out. That new birthday bowling pin is sold at quite a premium

0:20 That mezzanine on the left with the open staircase, we had one just like it in a plant in Illinois, local inspector made us sheath the underside in fire rated drywall. They do a little bait and switch on the website, unfortunately. The prominent displayed price includes string pinsetters, then you read further and if you want the freefall pinsetters (which everyone does), it'll cost more.

Out of sheer curiosity, what's the ideal dimensions for 2 lanes and how much would that cost? Want something good for a long term goal other than the generic stuff.
Last I heard it was about 100k for a pair of lanes. And would need approximately 100ft. That's with walking space in front of and behind the approach and machine. Then you would also need to get an oiler which is usually around 15k- 30k depending on what you get.

It would be great to have a pair of lanes in my house. I'd probably go more retro than average, though... above-ground ball returns, 3-10 wood, perhaps Brunswick A-2s running at 'A' speed, oil the lanes myself using lane towels or bug sprayer(!), etc.
I would love to have the A-2’s with the pin elevators bonging away, and use Astroline masking units with the white star shield lights. I would probably still go synthetic lanes, for less maintenance, and Cosmic Bowling capability.
I would also go with synthetic lanes for the reason you state- definitely less maintenance. Cosmic bowling would be cool, too... and maybe old-fashioned moonlite bowling with glow-in-the-dark pins. As for masking units- Astroline would be very nice, although I might opt for the Gold Crown dual-lane ones depending on the decor I chose.
Agreed with all. Maybe a Jet Back deck shield, regardless of if it's actually at Jet Back speed; great logo. Synthetics are simply much easier to maintain, and definitely easier on the balls.
