- Today, me, Dominic, and ChicagoElevators decided to go film some more elevators and trains in Chicago. We started out by filming the elevators in the Swissotel, which is that triangular-shaped hotel located right off of Wacker Dr. Me & Airtranlover, however filmed here back in March of 2016 but the video we filmed wasn't that great so I decided to come back here and get a better take of these elevators.
The elevators in this hotel use to be Montgomery Vector but then got modernized with a new destination dispatch system known as Otis Compass. What's interesting about destination dispatch elevators is that you would select a floor from outside of the elevator and then you would be directed to one. Inside the elevator is just the door controls, alarm, and emergency phone. Anyways, I'm really glad that I had a chance to come back here and get a better take of these amazing elevators. Also, during the beginning of the video, this lady accidentally pressed the phone in the elevator, as you could tell by the busy call tone. LOL!!! Наука
There are otis compasses in Anaheim California paradise pier, 1717 Disney road dr.
IMO Otis Compass is the nicest of all the destination dispatch
Yeah, I agree with you on that. Especially when Otis Compass has a voice-activated system where it directs you to an elevator coded by a letter and tells you if the elevator is to the left or right. This would definitely be very efficient for people who are blind.
ElevatorDog100 the Otis Compass is the most reliable because they almost never glitch
WRONG! Schindler Miconic 10 is best!
*Elevator A has arrived*
I’ve been here before! This is by far my favorite hotel in Chicago! Also, have you noticed the underground walkway in the Concourse Level of the Swissotel? There’s more elevators in there, most likely leading to shuttle elevators in office buildings serving Level C, and also leading to an underground mall with more elevators in it. I’ve been to that experience in summer of 2010. Also, about the shuttle elevators in this hotel as well, I think I may have possibly beat you to them because I’m the only one that has filmed them before (they are Otis Series 4 VR anyway).
The underground walkway is part of the Chicago Pedway system, which connects a lot of buildings in that area, like the Hyatt Regency and the Radisson Blu Aqua. As for the hotel, the triangular shape really throws you off! I remember walking in a loop in one of the guest floors, and the fact that the building is shaped like a triangle was really disorienting. I had only turned the corner twice and I was right back to the elevators. I was like "wtf? How am I back here already? (I hadn't realized the building was a triangle." The building is definitely very unique.
It's really interesting how interiors of buildings with weird shapes are planned out.
Thanks for letting me know about the underground walkway. I never knew it existed in the first place. I'll have to check that out next time I visit Chicago.
Yup! The pedway a pretty neat thing. In Rochester Minnesota, they have a massive system of underground tunnels and above ground walkways that connect the whole city!
Olivia/MrHax35795vr I Better visit this hotel when I go to Chicago
otis compass looks great there. how do you select the lettered floors?
You can select the "G" or the "L" button on the keypad or since the LCD screens are touch, you could select a lettered floor just by doing that.
he loved his white shoes so much he sang this song
strawberry curious
Although this is a nice elevator, this sadly replaced a Vector :(
