377/3's are 3-car, 377/1's, 2's, 4's and 5's (with SouthEastern) are 4-car. A 377/3 coupled up with one of the others. SouthEastern's 375's cannot couple to Southern's 377's, hence the different numbering classification. (Same with Southern's Class 171 diesels, compared to Class 170's in numerous other places).
You should wander up to Glynde reach some time. You'll get good shots of trains crossing the bridge while you stand on the separate pedestrian bridge .
Newhaven Harbour's popularity has diminished since the Dieppe ferries started departing from a terminal nearer Newhaven Town Station, and the closure of the adjacent Newhaven Marine platform, where boat trains used to terminate. Only alternate (hourly) trains were already calling at Southease, and a year or two ago, weekday calls at Newhaven Harbour were minimised down to just a few peak hour trains. These days, they seem to have settled on hourly srrvices for both stations, with trains calling at Southease skipoing the Harbour Station, and vice-versa. Trains that call Southease on the way to Seaford call Newhaven Harbour on the way back to Lewes and Brighton, but not both, and vice-versa. All trains continue to call at Newhaven Town and Bishopstone.
Excellent video, the changing background scenes and light added to the enjoyment.
Thankyou John :-)
The train between 6:50 and 7:50 is a 7 car formation. Never seen that before.

Great video matt :)
Thankyou ;)
3:08 what caused the sparks???
The third rail carries 750v dc to power the trains. Those arcs were nothing, you should see it in the snow and ice when contact is intermittent!
I remember it used to be double track all the way to Lewes.
Frederick Crouch Thankyou Frederick ;)
