A little-known work called the Quenta Sevramillion tells of the early history of the Severed Floor from the First Age. The original Innies were created through the Music Dance Experience of the Lumar, by Eru Eagan-atar.
Only commenting to support the channel. I still need to watch this show, so i'm pausing and dipping out instantly. Will come back and watch the full video after. :D
This video got me watching severance and it's sooooo good! Thank you! You have fueled my new obsession! I'm so excited for potential new IDG severance videos
I think Severance has the vibe of two cults: Apple (ironically) -- headquarters, stores, employees and customers... and Jehovah's Witnesses (a high-control religion I was raised in -- and escaped at age 18). Paradoxically the most effective way to recover from a cult experience is to sever ties with them as completely as possible (of course, they might sever ties with you as an example to the remaining cult members: the threat excommunication is a very powerful tool in cults).
I’m so glad that you’re picking up this great show. I’ve been watching this show for a while now and it’s been 3 years since the first season and the second season is just showing in the UK.
That's because you give up unproductive/unconscious time for more freedom (money = options) during the periods you _are_ conscious. That's a net gain. But for IRL work, you also build friendships and experience and networks - you can usually find things to be proud about. Giving all that up, is a loss too. (and then there's the issue of What if your kid has an accident? Will work version of You be allowed to go home and care for them? Or will you not even find out until you get home that night? I guess it's in some way kinda similar to deep sea divers, who are down there for weeks at a time and cannot come up until their shifts have ended)
DEEP Show!!! Absolutely Deep! And from someone who has experienced aspects of this Cold... Soulless... Corporate World... Filled with fake overtures of "friendships" and "social events" with work colleagues... They have that Cringe Factor spot on!!! Indeed... This show has actually made me question if I want to go back.... And chase those Big Bucks at the cost of my Own Soul!! 🤔
One of my current favorite channels talking about my current favorite tv shows, in a crossover I never anticipated? Hell yeah! I'm so glad you're covering Severance!
Thanks for explaining what those countless ads are about, as those ads have only told me two things. 1-It’s name 2-It thinks it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread
Robert, have you seen The Good Place? One of the things I love about that show is each episode has an interesting twist or reveal. It doesn't overstay its welcome either, 53 episodes and fully closes the book.
I immediately saw the similarities between Severence and The Good Place. The Good Place does it with levity and humor; Severence does it a little darker and pragmatic. Both amazing shows with really insightful allegories that I wish more people could pick up on and allow to change them for the better.
It is a very well written show. It's not just entertainment. The show makes you question the motivations of people / corporations when they think they know what's in your best interests. The last episode of season one was incredible.
Discovered your channel proper about a week ago, and I've been hooked on your LOTR lore videos. Severance is one of my favourite shows of the past few years and I'm stoked to see you covering it. I'd definitely love more severance content if you get round to it. Thanks for all your work!
The problem with these "blackbox" shows like Lost is that if the payoff ends up being unsatisfying then it completely ruins the entire experience... I might check it out once it is finished an I know for sure that it stick the landing.
It's interesting because on the one hand you are right, but on the other hand I look back more fondly on the end of lost than I do the end of Game of Thrones. There is an unsatisfying ending and then there is an ending that murders everything the show stood for and had going for it.
I normally fully agree with you about blackbox shows! But in my personal opinion, Severance has been so good, I'm genuinely not even that interested in the end-goal final result of the technical mystery... (There's several major theories currently - one of which the end of S2E1 heavily implies - and I could take any or none of them). There's so much great style, interesting character work and exploration of the core ideas, that as long as the 'reveals' don't completely **** the bed, then the journey has been so good, that it does need to live up to anything! (for me)
@@thecocktailian2091said it better than I could have, I was thinking the same, if it does finish on a fitting ending then excellent but if it doesn’t then the journey to the ending being excellent will have been worth it anyway! Like driving to a great sightseeing point and the clouds are to low that drive would have been lovely experience anyway.
It would be great if, after eight seasons, it just turns out to be an experiment to study the effects of creating a partmentalized self, a completely split existence. The effect it would have and a persons acceptance of it. Forcing the audience to take the mental trip with the characters and ask the same question of acceptance. If it is done well, it could be cool. I'm going to check it out. Thanks for bringing it to our attention Sir Geek 🤘🤓
Love that you’re expanding upon what you’re covering. Love the show and your presentation so this is great. Hope you do “The Last of Us” when it starts back up in April.
What a fun surprise! On Monday of this week, I binged the whole first season as an escape from current events here in the US (a dystopian dramedy seemed somehow appropriate). I think you absolutely captured the central elements of the show without giving too much away. I can't wait to get into Season 2. Thanks, Robert!
I have some clips on my channel from season 1. It did not get many views. I find this strange cause this is a really good series. Thanks for uploading. Have a wonderful day!
I want to be excited that you’re covering this, but I was excited when you posted a video about The Wheel of Time a couple of years ago. One video… just one. I’ll wait for your second Severance video before allowing myself any sense of elation. Glad you also enjoy the show, though!
only watched the first three episoeds by now (but will definitely continue). I really find it ironic that lots of the means to portray Lumen remind me so much of Apple (the huge headquater, cult-like-beliefs in a late founder, hyper-clean looks, ...). Sometimes it also reminds me of the Aperture Science company from Valves Portal games if anyone has played them. Clean, retrofuturistic vibes, a somewhat mysterious company with ...well ... questionable ethics, ... Great video, as always! :)
The “town” is a real place located in Holmdel, NJ. It is the former research HQ for Bell Labs. Reimagined today as “A one-of-a kind destination for business and culture, complete with a blossoming ecosystem of technology, traditional offices, retail, dining, hospitality, and much more”. It’s nice, but since the show first aired it definitely presents as hiding a seedy underbelly lol
Oooooh.... this is a subject I didn't expect here but am ABSOLUTELY here for.
Heck yeah
Dude. I couldn’t agree more. Stoked that he’s branching out
Same! I'm a massive severance fan. One of the best, new TV shows.
I reacted the same way 🤟🏼
One of my fav shows in recent years. Absolutely buzzing your making content on it.
Top tier lore channel covering a top tier show? Stoked for season 2

That is a really well crafted piece of LOTR snark!
😅
Bravo!
Truly a classic. “You shall not clock out” has to be one of the quotes of all time
I hope we get more Severance theory videos, such a good series to go In Deep on!
So excited to see my favorite youtube geek cover this amazing show. I hope this intro is the start of a series on Severance.
YES! I am so glad you are covering such a great show
Only commenting to support the channel. I still need to watch this show, so i'm pausing and dipping out instantly. Will come back and watch the full video after. :D
Did you end up watching?
YOURE DOING SEVERENCE NOW?!? YAAAAAAAAASSSS
Hell YES IDG!! Very here for Severance content!!
I’m SO happy you are covering this!!! I absolutely love your videos, you are the best narrator I have found!!!
I was sick over the long holiday weekend in the US and I was able to binge all of season 1. What a treat. I can't wait for more episodes.
YESSSSSSSSS. Perfect series for this channel 🎉

Good on you for getting out. No joke, that's NOT an easy thing to do.
Excellent summary. You didn’t mention the music. I found the strange music/sound scape to be wonderful, adding to the tension of the whole show
Yes, I'm enjoying the musical choices.
I’m so glad that you’re picking up this great show. I’ve been watching this show for a while now and it’s been 3 years since the first season and the second season is just showing in the UK.
This video introduced me to Severance and now I can't stop watching it
YES!!!! InDeepGeek doing one of the best current shows!
I love it when this channel loves a show that I love
I'm SO happy you're covering Severance!
Phrase it like "What if you were paid while you sleep, but you could no longer remember your dreams", and many would say yes!!!

This just broke my mind, I'm interested in seeing this😂I have never seen this premise before.
You won’t be sorry….. amazing show
@dremac8756 Preciate it🫡
Please remember to enjoy each episode of In Deep Geek equally.
One of my current favorite channels talking about my current favorite tv shows, in a crossover I never anticipated? Hell yeah! I'm so glad you're covering Severance!
Man i hope we get more severance content, I watched it because of this video and man was it worth it
So stoked to see you covering my favorite (current) TV show!
Hope we get more severance videos here. Thanks Robert, this is great.
I am always here for Tolkien, but I need more Severance from you!
Best show on television. Dig that you're talking about it.
I'm super glad you've picked up Severance. Your take is absolute one I'd like to hear going forward.
Oh I enjoyed the first season when it came out, thanks for bringing this here Robert 👌👌
Thanks for explaining what those countless ads are about, as those ads have only told me two things.
1-It’s name
2-It thinks it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread
I've been gearing up to binge the first season and now my impetus has arrived!
Oh my gosh I’m PSYCHED for your take!!! I literally said, “yayyy,” out loud when I saw this. 😅
Let’s go! I’m so glad you’re talking about Severance!
I am so glad you are going to cover this! Woot woot!!

Thanks for doing this
I watched the show because of this video and really enjoyed it. Keep making this type of great videos!
Best new show in a decade.
Thanks for covering this! I never have time to catch anything let alone a series so I wondered what the show was about
I'm happy to see you reviewing a show that is actually worthy of your analytical skill level....cough...Rings of Power....cough.
Hey in deep geek, you should do a video on Hithlain! Was rewatching the lord of the rings, and I was reminded of Hithlain
I am so excited to see you cover Severance!!
It is a very well written show. It's not just entertainment. The show makes you question the motivations of people / corporations when they think they know what's in your best interests. The last episode of season one was incredible.
Super excited. You are the detail king 👑 ❤
Yeeessss we are soo glad you are covering this
This show is so fucking good. Im thrilled to see you covering this
Thanks for covering this show.
Yaaas Rob! So happy youre covering this, love your takes ❤
Great topic. Can't wait for more.

I ADORE this show, and I’m so happy that you’re starting to add it to your deep-dive lore library! ❤
Love this! ❤ please do more severance!

Watch it and if it's shite ya can just get severed 😮

Only watched the first 2 episodes, liking it so far. Strange and mysterious. Plus Christopher Walken!
A massive thank you for introducing me to this.

Uncle rob speaking Severance, very nice.

Good to see you branching out to other great shows! Not that there was anything wrong with the old content.
