I feel like I have to comment something since my entire life revolves around playing the trumpet and there is a trumpet in the thumbnail, but also it’s 4 a.m. and I should sleep
Funny how “The Trump” opening can get you into a stonewall structure. Edit: Y’all in the replies need to learn how to chill. Its a fucking meme. Laugh and move on.
its also funny how no one plays the "Biden" opening, its where you open up large holes in your pawn structure and invite the opposing queen in to take all your stuff
Thanks for this Levy! As a d4 player, it's great having a Tromp card up your sleeves and I know you've said that you played this a lot so it's great seeing your insights in this opening
Mixture of Trompowksy and QGD looks cool. After 2. d5 by black you simply play bishop takes, pawn takes and c4! Edit: I won many games with this already.
Someone played this against me on my first chess mini-tournament! I play kings indian with black a lot and just thought the guy was fed up with kings indian players Ended up switchin to opposite castle pawnstorm and won the game tho, but never knew this was actual theory lol
Aeee +1 BR em canal gringo kkkk, como diz o ditado, “se vc coloca alguma coisa relacionada ao Brasil em vídeo gringo, os Brasileiros são invocados automaticamente”.
Levy I really like when you say things like "And now we just have a game of chess to play." I think it's easy to get caught up in thinking you should always be able to just create indestructible structures by binging RUclips content and forget that the point is to just get better at chess. Obviously the more theory, the better, but there's beauty in the game that is easy to miss when you're trying to crush with tricks and traps and expecting to only win that way. Just wanted to let you know I appreciate the periodic reminder to just love the game.
wow!! I never thought gotham will make this video because despite being a streamer and a content creator, he is also a professional chess player. And therefore revealing such amazing prep might allow his opponents(both online and OTB) to be more prepared when facing him. He is still an amazing player so I am sure he has other stuff cooking for serious games and matches. Best of luck in your games and tnx for the incredible content.
I just picked this opening up, had some problems getting good positions against 2..d5, but the stonewall for white actually makes sense, trading off the bad bishop before closing down the dark squares. Going to give this a shot!
At a low level (Blitz 500) 2.Bg5 works wonders. Black is expecting a London and they hang their queen, get mated on the king's diagonal, or lose their entire kingside structure trying to kick the bishop away.
Fantastic as always. I've been strictly playing the KIA and KID to really get a grasp on the system. I'm pretty confident with both now. I'm going to start studying the Trimpowski for some variety. 👌
that corner move actually helped me win some games haha, thanks dude. can you make a video ranking pieces and pieces-combo from easiest to hardest for checkmate?
Well this is a great idea. I like to play the Stonewall but was worried about by dark squared bishop. Moreover, I can finally execute the Greek gift after capturing the key defender of H2 square, the kingside knight.
I really love watching you play @GothamChess. I learn a lot from your narrative and thought process throughout the games. Thanks a lot for your content!
I just analyzed a game where the Biden gambit was used without an engine, way too many blunders to count, it got so bad the player's wife had to clean things up
I've seen a lot of people recently playing this opening with black against me after I play e4, Nf3. Was wondering where they got the idea to move their bishop right beside my guarded knight instead of to f5 like usual. I guess I should expect to see more of it soon.
That thumbnail 😂😂😂. I love these openings videos, they are so helpful in my chess. I used to only play 1.d4 with white, bcoz of Levy's London system video. Then came the videos about Vienna, how to play against Caro Kann, how to play against the Sicilian, which gave me enough confidence to try 1.e4 with white. This man built an entire repertoire for me. Thanks a lot Levy. Love you man 💙💙💙
30:00 Interesting position can actually arise here if levy doesn't put the knight on c3, protecting a4. Black could play Nxa4 which is either a brilliancy (only move that really seems to give black a serious chance) or just a nice tactic. if bxa4, Bxa4+, skewering the king and rook. You're then gonna take the rook, and you would have a rook for two pieces, but you have a strong pass pawn in the a file, a dark-squared bishop that once you develop the knight will be very strong, and a rook on an open file. It feels like white doesn't have an obvious plan here. Although the evaluation is about +.35 by Leela, black's moves seem very natural. Nd7, a4, seems like any move you play is decent whereas white might have to play precisely to win or draw. Would be a completely chaotic situation where you really cannot tell who has the advantage. I don't know if Levy saw that and played Nc3 to counter it or didn't see it and just played it because it looked natural, but it is pretty clear that the opponent saw it because he put his knight back in b4. Either way, it would have been really fun to see.
I just draw a game where my opponent attacked me like that. It was really a strange opening. Had to look it up after the game. Now I’m going to learn it.
