Well, the award is neither about your legendary status, nor your legacy, nor your body of work, nor, let alone, your gender. It all boils down solely to your performance in a particular film. Olivia was undeniably phenomenal in The Favourite as validated by her win.
@@shidneyseldonbut I still don’t understand why Olivia lost at SAG if she ended up winning the Oscars? Did some of Glenn’s votes at SAG change to Olivia’s for the Oscars? That’s wild like why they voted for different actress in the same category???
@@IwanSetiawan-dv1wlThe SAG is far more likely to single out a performance from a film considering it's made up entirely of actors. The academy is a bit more likely to get influenced by the overall strength of the film. The Favourite was a superior film to The Wife.
It's honestly far more satisfying to see the best performance win. Especially a comedic one, considering people tend to have bias against such roles. Olivia Colman was a deserving winner.
Because of seeing "The Wife," it made me discover her underrated filmography and I became an instant fan. I'll be waiting for her richly deserved Oscar win, but regardless whether she wins or not, I'll always be proud of having her as one of my favorite actresses ever. Thank you for this well-researched video.
I cried so much and didn't eat when Olivia Colman's name was called. I admire Glenn Close's composure that night when she didn't hear her name. I want her to win so bad 😭🤧
Bravo on this one! I'd give it to Close for Dangerous Liaisons. It's one of my all-time favorite films, and Close is fantastic in it. The final moments of that movie are perhaps some of the best ever captured on film.
I actually think Jodie Foster deserved it for The Accused, but Glenn was brilliant in Dangerous Liaisons. Too bad it couldn't have been a tie. Glenn should have won for Fatal Attraction.
Terrific video Brian!! Glenn Close and John Lithgow were terrifc in Garp and both should've won Supporting Oscars that year! While Jessica Lange was good in Tootsie, her win, in my opinion, was a consolation prize for losing against Streep in Sophie's Choice. Another crazy loss was Close losing against Cher.
She totally deserved it for Fatal Attraction but I don't think the Academy was going to reward a performance for such a divisive character. Let's hope she gets to make that Sunset Blvd movie musical!

@@ApolosXV I stumbled here accidentally, but will be back. And yes, hard work, a love of the subject, research are lacking on many sites. Not this one. It’s superb!
Jessica Lange's win in 1983 was also due to the fact that many felt she would have won had Meryl not been her competition in the best actress category. Lange's win for supporting actress was sort of compensation for Frances, rather than Tootsie.
I haven't seen all of her Oscar nominated performances yet, but I LOOOOVE her performance in Dangerous Liaisons and would've easily voted for her that year.
I was so sad she lost to Olivia Colman's Favourite performance but Colman deserved that but I never thought of that as a leading role, more of a supporting role then Glenn should have won, finally.
@@bryanismyname7583 I would even argue Rachel had more screen time than Olivia. The story is really about those two ladies trying to fight each other for the spotlight.
Thanks for all your work on this. Geraldine Page won her Oscar on HER eighth nomination, so there's still hope for Close. I was under the impression that "Sunset Boulevard" had already been put into production, but was derailed by the pandemic. Hope it finally happens. Cheers.
As soon as I saw your tweet, I went straight on RUclips and saw the notification. So excited for this. Glenn Close is the epitome of the Elusive Oscar column. She is synonym with it.
This LADY is simply a FILM STAR, it hurts a lot and she is not understood as an actress who should have already won 3 Oscars, she still hasn't won, this has simply created her name to get bigger and bigger, I LOVE YOU GLENN CLOSE from Paraguay.
I was in shock when Glenn Close lost in 2019. She should have won Oscar for The Wife as well as for Fattal Attraction. But I’m here to tell something else. I absolutely loved your channel. You have so many passion in your voice when you talk about movies, actors and actress. I’m truly impressed about your research, editing. Since you announced in a previous video another about Glenn Close my first thought in my head was I can’t wait! What a wonderful job! I’m not an english fluent but I try to express how many joy you bring to my life when I able to watch so amazing and complete videos about my favorite stars. Thank you so much😊
So glad to see you giving tribute to Glenn Close! She is one of the best in the business and has been snubbed for way too long! She should have won for Fatal Attraction in my opinion. That performance, along with Kathy Bates in Misery, are two of the most, if not the most, legendary crazy women performances. Hopefully, she’ll win someday soon. P.S. I’d love to see a video on why Jeremy Irons has been nominated so little if it interests you. He won for Reversal of Fortune, but the man has given at least 4 or 5 performances that were worthy of nomination. One of my favorite actors.
Peter O’Toole had 8 nominations without a win. He received an Honorary Oscar. Richard Burton had 7 nominations without winning. Thelma Ritter had six nominations, no wins. Al Pacino and Paul Newman had to wait till their 7th nominations to win. Edward G. Robinson was never nominated. He received word of his Honorary Oscar just before he died. So, Glenn Close is in good company. If she ever gets to make that “Sunset Blvd” musical movie, she’ll be a shoo-in as long as it turns out well.
Deborah Kerr remains the most nominated for Best Actress. Six noms and no wins. Glenn Close and Amy Adams have a mixture of Best Actress/Best Supporting nominations.
Your research shows how much you love movies, like the rest of us. Great job here. You should have hundreds of thousands of subscribers. I was rooting for her on The Wife, just a shocking loss. Thanks for doing this.
Thank you for this video. The woman in your video who said, "What kind of world do we live in when Glenn Close can't get her due" says it all for me. I fell in love with her in Dangerous Liasons. She was brilliant! Dominated every scene she was in. I admire her.
Brilliant video on someone who is rightfully considered as one of the greatest living actors. I love her realistic, practical attitude towards awards and she seems like a genuinely nice human being.
I hate that she's never won. Mostly because she's already won several Emmys and Tonys, and I can't think of anyone more deserving of the Triple Crown of Acting. I have to believe that she'll win the Oscar for the _Sunset Boulevard_ movie.
1) I did not know Cher's career was so successful and awarded (before my time) 2) Glenn Close was sooo good in Albert Nobbs and the Good Wife, let alone her earlier works. She fully deserves at least one.
People tend to forget that when Cher won an Oscar, it wasn't just a pop star having a breakthrough movie moment. It was her third movie that came out in 1987 alone, her 2nd oscar nom and in 1986 Cher was considered to be the biggest snub that year when her cannes award winning role Mask wasn't nominated.
What makes me admire her even more is that she has a learning disability, so she has to work hard to read a script, and then she works on it from memory. That's what a woman who ran a program for kids with learning disabilities told me. Cher made an appearance at one of their fundraisers way back when.
Thank you for this wondeful video, Brian! Like you I would like for Glenn Close to get her Oscar and still hope she can get it for playing Norma Desmond, and thus win it for Gloria Swanson too.
She is phenomenal. I don't mind if she doesn't win though. She is such a national treasure that the swell of support and love she receives from fans and colleagues during award season is worth more than a cold statuette
True except that I think SHE would really appreciate it nonetheless !! I think she's in that generation that particularly values the Oscar as being honoured / respected by her peers!
FATAL ATTRACTION should’ve been the first of many Oscars for Glenn. Cher wasn’t THAT great in Moonstruck. She’s incredible, one of the best actors ever. Sunset boulevard (movie) will give her the Oscar

Thank You so much for this great tribute about the-one-and-only, Glenn Close! In My View, Glenn doesnt deserve an Oscar anymore, but a higher, better, fancier and more prestigious award. I feel absolutely connected with you on your deep admiration for Close. Thanks again, and let's wait in agony and despair for Sunset Boulevard" to be filmed. ❤❤
Well said Brian ! If she should win an oscar, I'll jump up and down on my sofa and I'll pop open a bottle of champagne to celebrate her win. She's LONG overdue !!!!!! Hugs from Hong Kong.
Wow! As much as I was anticipating this video and as much as I knew it was going to be good, Brian, you have outdone yourself! Bravo. I hope this retrospective actually gets in front of Glenn's eyes because it is simply lovely and expertly crafted! I can't add more to the conversation than to say that I personally believe the reason she has never won an Oscar, and as utterly inane and superficial as it may sound, is because she's not your stereotypical Hollywood beauty. She's beautiful but not necessarily glamorous. And I'll leave it at that because as true as I believe that to be, her talent is breathtaking and eternal and should be rightfully celebrated. My favorite performance was in Dangerous Liasons, yet I agree her strongest work is in Fatal Attraction. But the biggest takeaway from this video is all the television movies I've missed out on of her work. I remember being a big fan of her Sara, Plain & Tall films but you have opened my eyes to some other great movies I definitely need to check out! Glenn will win her Oscar and I can't wait for the applause and standing ovation she will receive. The loses may be worth it just for that moment but not really. She should be an Oscar winner many times over and it's videos like this that lessen the sting of that inconceivable snubbing while highlighting the urgency of why she deserves it. Again, well done!
I totally agree with the "beauty" factor as sad as it is, she was never a Hollywood sweetheart like Lawrence or Stone, but then also Michelle Pfeiffer who is a knockout beauty has never won. And on the other hand, also Olivia Colman is not your standard glamorous beauty and yet she won nonetheless...
I confess I haven't seen Dangerous Liaisons, I must. Of her films I've seen my favorite line of hers is in Fatal Attraction, "I'm not going to be ignored, Dan". Chilling and ominous.
Dangerous Liasons is on of my favorite books, and that movie was brilliantly done. How there were no acting Oscars for that movie is quite astonishing. Glenn Close, on Broadway is everything. Good Jesu, Norma Desmond was breathtaking. She’ll win an Oscar, we just have to wait to be blown away by what her next rolls maybe. The Stepford Wives was pretty entertaining though.
Thank u for this! I really really want her to win someday. We continue to send those positive vibes to her. I agree that The Wife is as close as Close has ever been. I really thought she was going to pull a Julianne Moore on everyone but sadly it wasn't the case. Also, I'm sure that if The Accused came after The Silence of the Lambs Glenn Close would be an Oscar winner.
Glenn Close's first film The World According To Garp is my favorite of her Oscar nominated performances because it was a sensational screen debut you occasionally get from actors in their first feature film. By the way, the Alfre Woodard film the year Woodward was nominated for was titled Cross Creek.
And going by the way we follow precursors, it's still the closest she got to winning before The Wife winning Best Supporting Actress at the National Board Of Review & Los Angeles Film Critics Association & runner-up in both the New York Film Critics Circle & the National Society Of Film Critics. Fatal Attraction would have been an all time winner, though I still think Holly Hunter in Broadcast News & Sally Kirkland in Anna probably had stronger shots of winning if Cher didn't win. 1988 was so up in the air, I genuinely wouldn't have been surprised at Glenn winning in Dangerous Liaisons, she so deserved to!
In her next film she sings with passion with her beautiful voice in a dramatic role, she will win the Oscar. I think that she is also overdue for an Honorary Oscar. Her roster is over flowing with Great Performances.
I rewatched the Dangerous liaisons yesterday and cannot forget her face. What an astonishing actress she is! The roles are there to shine and that is what matters.
Her vindication: the richly deserved Tony 4 HER magnificent interpretation of Norma Desmond in Lloyd Weber's 'Sunset Blvd.' Ms. Close = A film & theater versatile, multi-talented legend!!!❤ 💐💫🎉🥰👍!!!
I'd love to hug you. She's my favorite actor and it's criminal that she was robbed for Fatal Attraction and Dangerous Liaisons. I just love her. Speak for yourself, if Close never wins I'll be shattered lol
I love that she told Barbara Walters that she deserved to win. Girls and women are taught to downplay their accomplishments, so it's nice to see a woman be confident instead of self effacing. Re the Accused: that movie was the first I can think of to deal with rape and how terribly victims are treated. (It's better now than back then, but we still need to make a lot of progress.) So many women saw their own experiences up on that screen, starting with the danger in the air before the men attacked her. So many women and girls know what it's like to be told that they were at fault and/or enjoyed it. I can't emphasize enough how much the film meant to a lot of women. We saw ourselves in Jody in that film. That the film was based on a real attack made it even more important to us.
Sally Kirkland won the most Best Actress awards that year, Globe, Spirit, LAFCA, next to Cher. If anything- Sally was runner up in 87, so I personally feel close was 4th- because even Hunter won some awards- Close won nothing all season. Her nom was the win. Great video as always!
I disagree, Anna was a little seen mixed reviewed film and she won the Globe thanks to her famous campaign there and with a help of Shelley Winters. There is no way she was second when Holly Hunter who was in a best picture nominated film and swept the critics awards and Glenn already an overdue in a crazy showy performance in a box office juggernaut were there. Sally was probably 4th.
I also wouldn't rely that much on the Globes in those years cause they did some weird stuff like getting a 3 way tie the very next year in drama actress, not nominating Gena Davis and many more actual nominees.
I don't believe that Sally WAS the runner up, as already mentioned very few people saw Anna, and it appears her campaigning more than anything got her nominated. Even if Glenn wasn't the runner up I doubt very much that Sally was either.
I would love to see a video on Scarlett Johansson and the Elusive Oscar. She's been nominated twice in the same year. But she's had many amazing and acclaimed performances throughout a 20 year career. Lost in Translation should have been hers.
Do you mean perhaps for Supporting Actress?? Because the Best Actress category, that was Charlize Theron’s year for Monster, but then there was Naomi Watts for 21 Grams, Keisha Castle-Hughes for Whale Rider, Samantha Morton for In America , all big big big performances !! And the charming Diane Keaton to boot!! A very very tough year!!!
It's like the only other actress who was nominated twice in the same year, for both Lead and Supporting Actress, was Sigourney Weaver for Gorillas in the Mist and Working Girl. And yet, SHE lost both those awards too! I'm surprised she's never won.
I think these videos are for actors who've had multiple nominations (I'd say at least five) but no wins. Scarlett's only had two, and unfortunately both those performances were up against people that were locks for that year.
I’m so surprised that she doesn’t even have an Oscar! Her performances in fatal attraction, dangerous liaisons, albert nobbs and the wife are phenomenal!!
Glenn Close, what a powerhouse! Brilliant and iconic as she was in Fatal Attraction, I believe her greatest role and performance ever was in Dangerous Liaisons. She gave her character so much depth and complexity, it's a performance I'll never forget. It was scandalous that she lost the Oscar for both roles.
She should have additionally received Oscar nominations for Jagged Edge, Reversal of Fortune, 101 Dalmatians and heck sge was even amazing in Air Force One but those 3 films should have got her 3 more Oscar nominations.
What a great video, thank you for making it! I am glad I'm not the only one frustrated that this incredible actress has never one. I have always felt she is the equal of Meryl Streep and should be honored just as much.
One of Glen Close's stand out roles for me (not in an Oscar category) was for Damages. She killed it in that incredible psychological thriller series. I have to hand it to the young Rose Byrne, who stood toe to toe w/ a great like Glen Close.
This is only the second video I watched on your channel. By the way, I subscribed to it. 😊 But I have to say this - I love your two videos! This is particularly well-done. I really hope one of these days, Glenn Close can finally hold an Oscar trophy which she truly deserves! I think Olivia Colman is an awesome actor, but Glenn Close should have won. But it's not meant to be. I think when Glenn Close finally win (I hope! 🤞), it'll be the sweetest and everyone in the auditorium should STAND for 8 minutes - the many times she was nominated before!
not only did i gasp but i jumped off the couch while doing so when Olivia won. But I loved Olivia Coleman in The Favourite, I just really thought it was going to Close, like we all did.
I remember that Oscar year, I got into a fight with a friend over Glenn Close vs. Lady Gaga for Best Actress, and he said, “She doesn’t get to win just because she deserves it, or because she’s a legend who has a lot of nominations.” And when Olivia Colman won, he said, “I don’t care who won, I’m just happy Glenn Close didn’t win.” I was like, what the hell
And yeah, if Meryl Streep can get nominated for Into The Woods and Florence Foster Jenkins, then damn it, Glenn Close totally deserved a nomination for 101 Dalmatians
Alfre Woodard was nominated for "Cross Creek" not Criss Cross as you stated. In 1987 I think Sally Kirkland was the runner up having won many preliminary awards including the Golden Globe Drama. Also, in Terri Garr's memoir "Speed Bumps" she thinks she should have won for "Tootsie" too! If Lange had not also been favored for "Frances" Garr most likely would have been a winner! Congratulations on a great video!
Glenn Close is one of the best actresses still today, and deserves the Honorary Award from the Academy and the Cecil B Demille Award from the Hollywood Foreign Press for her remarkable career. 👏
Truly that Oscar best actress in 2019 when Olivia won was so shocking but unlike that year best picture win for green book my feelings were more conflicted for Olivia this was one of the few times where someone I wanted to win actually win but then again I was truly expecting for Glen to get her long overdue Oscar

I'll be waiting for her richly deserved Oscar win, but regardless whether she wins or not, I'll always be proud of having her as one of my favorite actresses ever. Thank you for this well-researched video.
You’re so welcome! ❤️
I watched "The Wife" and truly felt as if she deserved the Oscar..congrats to Olivia but Glenn proved herself again
I cried so much and didn't eat when Olivia Colman's name was called. I admire Glenn Close's composure that night when she didn't hear her name. I want her to win so bad 😭🤧
Same here!!!🥲🥲🥲
Bravo on this one!
I'd give it to Close for Dangerous Liaisons. It's one of my all-time favorite films, and Close is fantastic in it.
The final moments of that movie are perhaps some of the best ever captured on film.
Yes, agreed!
Yes, agreed! Thanks for watching!
She totally deserved it for Fatal Attraction but I don't think the Academy was going to reward a performance for such a divisive character. Let's hope she gets to make that Sunset Blvd movie musical!
Yes!!
This channel is so AMAZING yet son underrated!!!! We need to make this channel blow up. Your scripts, your editing, your production, your voice mmmmmm, it's all so good that it even hurts lol. Thank you for your content and your hard work!
Your comment made my night. Thank you thank you thank you!!
i agree i expected a lot more views when i looked down. i can't imagine the work put in for this quality! and i'm watching it for free lucky me
@@21jd_ ditto, we gotta help him grow, there's plenty of room on RUclips for him...
Yes, exactly!
I haven't seen all of her Oscar nominated performances yet, but I LOOOOVE her performance in Dangerous Liaisons and would've easily voted for her that year.
Nothing comes close to The Dangerous liaisons and Fatal attraction. There's everething in those roles.
Yes, would’ve been a great win!
I was so sad she lost to Olivia Colman's Favourite performance but Colman deserved that but I never thought of that as a leading role, more of a supporting role then Glenn should have won, finally.
nah ít;s the lead role!
True, it easily fits in the Supporting category
Yes, I thought Emma Stone was the lead, since everything really happens through her perspective.
@@bryanismyname7583 I would even argue Rachel had more screen time than Olivia. The story is really about those two ladies trying to fight each other for the spotlight.
Love the Colman performance but I still would’ve loved a Close win for The Wife. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for all your work on this. Geraldine Page won her Oscar on HER eighth nomination, so there's still hope for Close. I was under the impression that "Sunset Boulevard" had already been put into production, but was derailed by the pandemic. Hope it finally happens. Cheers.
Same here!
As soon as I saw your tweet, I went straight on RUclips and saw the notification. So excited for this. Glenn Close is the epitome of the Elusive Oscar column. She is synonym with it.
Thanks, I hope you enjoyed it!
Watching this video, and getting to the part where Glenn Close wins all those awards leading up to the Oscars for The Wife is heart wrenching 😥😥
Thank you so much😊
Thank you for your comment, it made my night!! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks for watching!!
I watched Glenn Close for the first time in 101 dalmatians when I was a kid and OMG to this day that performance still amazes me.
Yes, I love that performance, too!
Her Dangerous Liaisons’ performance still astounds me.
Yes! Should’ve won!!
Thank you for highlighting her work in Damages. I never missed an episode. Damages (and Fatal Attraction) are Glenn Close's greatest role(s) .❤🎉
So true! Would love to make a Ritter video ❤️
@@TheAwardsContender would you do Annette Bening too please
Deborah Kerr remains the most nominated for Best Actress. Six noms and no wins. Glenn Close and Amy Adams have a mixture of Best Actress/Best Supporting nominations.
@@melodramaboy : Yes, but Kerr did receive an Honorary Oscar.

“If you love Glen Close” Yes, yes I do. She’s amazing.
Agreed!!
Your research shows how much you love movies, like the rest of us. Great job here. You should have hundreds of thousands of subscribers. I was rooting for her on The Wife, just a shocking loss. Thanks for doing this.
Thank you so much for your comment, you’re too kind! ❤️
Glen Close is a great actress, with or without Oscar.
Agreed!!
Could you possibly do Michelle Pfeiffer? Always felt she was overdue for more recognition.
Hallellooooooooooo!!!
Amen!
Yes, that one is coming. Stay tuned!
Thank you for this video. The woman in your video who said, "What kind of world do we live in when Glenn Close can't get her due" says it all for me. I fell in love with her in Dangerous Liasons. She was brilliant! Dominated every scene she was in. I admire her.
Thanks for watching! I admire her too!
Brilliant video on someone who is rightfully considered as one of the greatest living actors. I love her realistic, practical attitude towards awards and she seems like a genuinely nice human being.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video!
You didn't mention her SNL turn as Alex Forrest ... absolutely hilarious!!!!
Yes, I love it too!
I was waiting for this for sooooo long...i knew no other channel could do justice to this topic. Another well done video
Thank you so much! Means a lot!
I hate that she's never won. Mostly because she's already won several Emmys and Tonys, and I can't think of anyone more deserving of the Triple Crown of Acting.
I have to believe that she'll win the Oscar for the _Sunset Boulevard_ movie.
Would be amazing!!
1) I did not know Cher's career was so successful and awarded (before my time)
2) Glenn Close was sooo good in Albert Nobbs and the Good Wife, let alone her earlier works. She fully deserves at least one.
Thanks for watching!
Objectively, Glenn Close should have at least 3 Oscars:
Fatal Attraction (1987)
Dangerous Liaisons (1989)
Hillbilly Elegy (2021)
Definitely Fatal Attraction!
THEY NEED TO HURRY UP AND DO SUNSET BOULEVARD WHILE SHE STILL CAN. SHE’LL WIN!!!
Yess
I know!! Wish this would happen!
Thank you for this wondeful video, Brian! Like you I would like for Glenn Close to get her Oscar and still hope she can get it for playing Norma Desmond, and thus win it for Gloria Swanson too.
Thanks so much for watching! I hope she can win soon for SB, that would be amazing!
Yessssss! Been anticipating for this video for ages! Thanks for letting us go through Close’s amazing career with you!
You’re very welcome!
She is phenomenal. I don't mind if she doesn't win though. She is such a national treasure that the swell of support and love she receives from fans and colleagues during award season is worth more than a cold statuette
True many amazing actors/ actresses don’t win few are overall even nominated.
True except that I think SHE would really appreciate it nonetheless !! I think she's in that generation that particularly values the Oscar as being honoured / respected by her peers!
True! Thanks for watching!
Still my favourite new RUclips channel discovery! Such energy and tension! I root for everyone you highlight!
Yay!! Thanks so much ❤️
Academy award winner, Glenn Close ✨
🥲
Should be!
FATAL ATTRACTION should’ve been the first of many Oscars for Glenn. Cher wasn’t THAT great in Moonstruck. She’s incredible, one of the best actors ever. Sunset boulevard (movie) will give her the Oscar
No one was good in Moonstruck lol
Would be awesome!
@@tlovehater exactly 😂
Some big person in the Academy hate Glenn Close so much. It so crazy she never wins.
So insane she hadn’t won!
I am one of the many who only just discovered your channel thanks to your 10 worst wins video, and now I cannot get enough of your content. Where have you been all my life?! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your insight and your love for these incredible artists. I am officially your biggest fan.
Congratulations! Great video, I loved it! I know you made it with all of your love for Glenn Close. We will see Her winning soon! For me is already a Winner and one of my favorite actors ever, I mean ever!!!!
Yes, agreed! Thanks for watching!
I hope she wins 2 even back to back. I hate for her to receive a Lifetime Achievement award because I felt it's undermining her acting career.
Yes, agreed! Fingers crossed we get a delightful surprise!
You did outstanding with. So good so well put together. I love her, and I like agree with you 100 percent
Well said Brian ! If she should win an oscar, I'll jump up and down on my sofa and I'll pop open a bottle of champagne to celebrate her win. She's LONG overdue !!!!!! Hugs from Hong Kong.
Yay! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your thorough comment, it means a lot!! Very grateful you watched and enjoyed my video!
The video we've all been waiting for. Time to enjoy the next hour. I'll be right back on the comments.
Yay!
Thank you for shouting out Damages! I feel like it has been so overlooked.
Yes, I LOVED that show!
So true. Thanks for watching!
Glenn Close's first film The World According To Garp is my favorite of her Oscar nominated performances because it was a sensational screen debut you occasionally get from actors in their first feature film. By the way, the Alfre Woodard film the year Woodward was nominated for was titled Cross Creek.
Thanks for watching!
Great video, thanks Brian. She's magnetic in everything she does.
You’re very welcome!
In her next film she sings with passion with her beautiful voice in a dramatic role, she will win the Oscar. I think that she is also overdue for an Honorary Oscar. Her roster is over flowing with Great Performances.
100%!
I rewatched the Dangerous liaisons yesterday and cannot forget her face. What an astonishing actress she is! The roles are there to shine and that is what matters.
Close's last scene in Dangerous Liaisons was powerful and very memorable. She should've won the Oscar for that scene alone.
Close should definitely have got the Oscar for Dangerous Liaisons, one of my top 5 favourite films.
Sigourney Weaver would also be a perfect subject for a future elusive video.
That one is coming. Stay tuned!
Her vindication: the richly deserved Tony 4 HER magnificent interpretation of Norma Desmond in Lloyd Weber's 'Sunset Blvd.'
Ms. Close = A film & theater versatile, multi-talented legend!!!❤ 💐💫🎉🥰👍!!!
I think she will win for sunset boulevard. Whenever that film comes out
Would be great!
@@TheAwardsContender I think Glen wins her Oscar before merly hits 30 noms
Thank you for this video. I’ve been waiting for this. I hope and I pray for the time where we can all call her the Academy Award Winner Glenn Close 💚
Me too!! Fingers crossed!
I'd love to hug you. She's my favorite actor and it's criminal that she was robbed for Fatal Attraction and Dangerous Liaisons. I just love her.
Speak for yourself, if Close never wins I'll be shattered lol
Glenn Close is a treasure. Thanks for watching!
Good points here. Thanks so much for watching!
The fact she took the indie spirit award from Toni Colette this means a lot
Haha yes!
I would love to see a video on Scarlett Johansson and the Elusive Oscar. She's been nominated twice in the same year. But she's had many amazing and acclaimed performances throughout a 20 year career. Lost in Translation should have been hers.
Yes, I love that idea!
@@heymistercarter. Isn't there also Jessica Lange, as mentioned in this very video?
I think these videos are for actors who've had multiple nominations (I'd say at least five) but no wins. Scarlett's only had two, and unfortunately both those performances were up against people that were locks for that year.
I’m so surprised that she doesn’t even have an Oscar! Her performances in fatal attraction, dangerous liaisons, albert nobbs and the wife are phenomenal!!
I know, she should have one!!!
Hillbilly Elegy is one of her best roles ever.
Thanks for watching!
YES, I loved every second of that show!
Thank you, Ting! Glad you enjoyed it. I still have hope Glenn Close will have her Oscar moment!
Patty Hewes in Damages is my personal favourite role of Close's.
not only did i gasp but i jumped off the couch while doing so when Olivia won. But I loved Olivia Coleman in The Favourite, I just really thought it was going to Close, like we all did.
It was shocking!
Thank you for mentioning “The Paper.” She had some great lines in that film.
Yes, a terrific film!
