really enjoying this expansion, especially how idle cartography is. it's a very relaxing and rewarding skill and it adds that tantalizing desire to see what you'll find (and fits in a little bit of lore nicely) that you don't really get from other skills, since you can always see what you will unlock in the unlocks menu option.
a thing to note is that you only pay the travel fee for a hex the first time you travel to that hex, after that it's free to travel back to it at any time... a realy important tip for the new game mode since a lot of progression is tied to cartography and gold is tight at the beginning especially with everything locked at skill level 10 max.
Played a couple of hours focused on my ancient relics character, not being able to cook anything is a challenge. You have to be a bit lucky to get all the right skill level boosts when completing a dungeon. Love this mode, the relics are awesome, for example I get gems from cutting trees now.
@@Ken_Cikas Adventure mode feels more like gold farming mode, spent more time making money to unlock all the skills than actually doing dungeons. Ancient relic mode is what adventure mode should have been, the lack of good food option besides farming, and slayer crates. Hoping to get my thieving up to 50 so I can farm chefs for food, but no luck with the skill level unlocks.
I don't mind the gold farming to unlock skills in adventure, but that's it. They need to do something to where you have to unlock dungeons and stuff like that because once you have all the skills its basically just standard with a x10 on it....
Don't think you have to find it anywhere. For me it was already opened up, but this is on my full completion account so if something other than leveling Astro up to 49 was required, I'm not sure.
It looks like unlike the last expansion a lot of this new stuff is for early to mid game? It's not all end game content. If I'm wrong please let me know. I haven't bought the first one because I haven't completed the base game yet.
If your planning on buying the Herald expansion, no reason to wait. It does have a new endgame, but it also adds a lot of things that help early game. Not sure how the new expansion will play out, but both new skills are accessible early and may also offer benefits for a full playthrough.
Tier 4 secret stardust potions are -15% astro interval and the eagle/owl synergy is another -10%. If you have 120 in astro, the superior skillcape is another -10% so it all adds up quickly.
New player here and plan to play casually in standard mode on Steam at my leisure. Would you suggest just getting and installing/activating(not sure how that works) all the DLC now(it's on sale) or play vanilla the first time through? @Ken_Cikas

Cartography is a really solid addition for sure
I can't wait for the relics mode playthrough!
Me too! That looks like a great new game mode

if you talking about cartography then you do need to pay each time you move a hex
Unless you've found something that negates the cost, I have to pay for every move whether I've been there or not.
I think a lot of the UI changes came with the patch rather than the Atlas of Discovery expansion btw. Nice vid as well :)
Thanks!
WHY IS AN IDLE GAME MY GOTY! What kind of reality am i living in? :)
lol

Looking forward to trying the relic mode SoonTM
@@Ken_Cikas It's more of an adventure than adventure mode.
Yea that's what I'm looking forward to. Adventure sorely needs a rework

That's just how much map $5 bought 😉
@@Ken_Cikas turned 9ut to be a bug it loaded to 100 when I woke up.
How did you find the combo gem grind its taking me so damn long to get dungeon gems!
Total slog lol
How do you unlock the new astrology area? Do you need to find it in cartography?
Don't think you have to find it anywhere. For me it was already opened up, but this is on my full completion account so if something other than leveling Astro up to 49 was required, I'm not sure.
@Ken_Cikas true, maybe I'm blind because i checked again and it was there
whats the notification mod youre using?
Don't think I'm running one. They did an update a few months ago that added some options in the settings menu

Potion and tablets
@@Ken_Cikas which ones? I may not be a high enough level but your speed is considerably higher than mine.

If you plan on getting the expansions, go for it. Each offers new gear and items that can be used pretty early on.
