My dad had this record, and my brothers and I just about wore it out in the '80s. I used to go to sleep with records like this, the Smothers Brothers, and Brother Dave Gardner stacked up on the player. I'd listen to all the A sides one night, then flip them over and listen to all the side Bs (in reverse order) the next. I just shared this with my 21-year old son (who is a huge bluegrass fan and is majoring in guitar at college) and my 19-year old daughter (who is a wonderful vocalist majoring in music). Nothing but smiles and laughs all around. What a wonderful trip my memories of 40 years ago!

Of course, comedy was what they were known for but these guys were first-rate jazz musicians, as evidenced on their "C Jam Blues." If you get a chance, find their "Play It Straight" and "It Ain't Necessarily Square" albums and listen to two of the hardest swinging musicians that ever came out of Nashville.
I remember listening to Battle of Kookamonga on a recording I made of that week's Dr. Demento Show. My dad told me he had that song on a record, then dug a copy of this very record and an old record player out and showed me how to use it. After years of having not heard it it only took him a week to get tired of it. After two weeks he was asking "don't you ever listen to Genesis anymore?" That was saying something, because before this record he was tired of hearing Genesis over and over again.
We’re on Covid lockkdown right now,, and my sister is making strawberry jelly. I found H&J to bring back memories of our grandma, who loved these nuts. So we’re canning while channeling Gran. Good times.
This was one my late Dad's favorite duos! He had this album and played it often. They were ahead of their time with their brand of humor. Homer & Jethro will always be one of my favorite performing artists. I can still along with all the songs from memory like it was yesterday. Great tunes!

I was born in 89 I don't think like others from my era, I grew up kinda country and more old school, I feel like I missed my era, there isn't many characters left like this today.
Still have the original issue 33RPM of this album. From my dad's collection. It is a gem. I still tell a few bad jokes from this record to my own kids.

My parents had an original copy of this album, and I used to play it over and over again as a child. They gave me their RCA dual tube amp stereo that I play all the albums on after I got married. But we couldn't find this one. I got online years later (and several years ago) and tracked a copy down at a vintage record store in Vancouver. To this day, I can still sing along and stop at the right time to fill in the comedy bits. However, now that my Dad has passed; I listen to the Mandolin playing as that was his instrument of choice from age 12 to 88. To spin a line from one of their songs on this album; I don't miss the playing, but I do miss him. ;( Thank you so much for uploading; as I can listen on my PC, or tablet while on the go.
Hi out of curiosity, how do you know which is the original? I see this one on here says made in stereo, so I'm assuming it's not original, I have a copy that is not made in stereo, would that mean it's the original? I actually have 7 of their albums from my dads estate, actually 8 but two are the same just one in stereo one is not. I'm getting ready to post them on ebay. I just wanted to make sure they were the originals.

Thank god we had singing comedians of this calibre before the advent of political correctness, I first heard them on an L P titled songs my mother never sang and was lucky enough to see them live on a visit to Nashville in 1969 and since then I have been lucky enough to accumulate around 12 or their albums and listen to them whenever I need a lift, great stuff

I have the country club, the one I have the 2 of is the humorous side of country music, go west, the worst of, barefoot ballads, at the convention, and ooh that's corny. If anyone is interested let me know I would be willing to send photos, and come up with a good offer.
2 problems with this: 1) RCA was bought out by Bertlesman in the late 80's, and 2) lots of people would get butthurt and find their jokes about women offensive. I love this album, but there's no way the humor in this would fly today.

My grandparents actually met a this concert and they recall dancing romantically together before creating my father later that night!

I am 60. This what entertained us before the internet was a thing. 1959 and doubt any one will understand how risque this album is.
