My observation? The light is within some, very defiant and stubborn like an endless river. Darkness is inevitable in life, we all find ourselves feeling low and out of the fight! Similar to the matrix " not everyone is ready to be unplugged, with denial, ego defense and sacrafice...you may not be aware your running in the dark! I don't apolagize for my temperament or the damage I've caused, figuring out why I'm doing these things...I take responsibility with understanding and not guilt, because this enables me to grow while present in my agony. So in short, if you realise your in darkness and this triggers you? Possibly because your IN the darkness rather than BEING the darkness, and this allows you to digest the result of triggers in a calm soothing way. I can be nauseous, hands shaking and wanting a way out...but I am still focusing on the light because I know that I can't win if I don't fight.
@TaskingtheTask ??? I am a die hard fan of NIN and a huge fan of GIAA as well.. Cant say that I hear any resemblance other than they both give off an energy that changes your mood and makes you feel alive. GIAA was formed in 2002 and NIN was formed in 1988. "The fragile" came out in 1999 and the album "With Teeth" followed in 2005. Its highly doubtful that either bands would steal from each other anyway. Bands like these are amazing because they create their music with sheer emotion.
A lyrical phrase - 'There is a light that shines tonight...' '"Remembrance of God is like the rain and dew which bestow freshness and grace on flowers and hyacinths, revive them and cause them to acquire fragrance, redolence and renewed charm." ~ Baha'i Faith
For those who just discovered (and were pleased by this discovery) God is An Astronaut, I'd recommend you to take a look at other post rock songs. A good starting point would be this playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLF1F890EFB39B0156
It's weird, this song shrouds me in Darkness but at the same time fills me with Light.

It does slightly reference A Perfect Drug, but this is like the version Reznor would have wanted all along ❤️

mr skeltal I've never understood the paradigm of posting a random word and declaring it "abstract" or "artsy".
i tried to sum up the feeling i get from this song in one word. nothing random
and when did i ever declare anything "abstract" or "artsy"?
