When goes higher it shows he's forcing his register to hit that high. They are king and queen. Female range is different from male.
He doesn't sound horrible, although he definitly could sound a lot better especially when you contrast him with Mariah. How about you go listen to truly horrible vocals from people who can't sing and reevaluate what is means to sound horrible... Adam Lopez is far from horrible.
