PLEASE, if you buying an expensive amp, tube or otherwise, don't do what Zeos did at 25:56 and plug in into an adapter that is sitting in the amp. Pull the adapter out, plug into the adapter, then plug it back into the unit, especially with an XLR adapter. Zeos can explain why.....
I really love the artistry in these super high end headphone amps. When money is no longer a barrier to design, magical things happen. Magic I can't afford but magic nonetheless.
9 diamonds is just too much money. Felix Audio makes affordable tube amplifiers. I bought the Cayin HA-1A tube amplifier secondhand in 2020 for 550euro. The Chinese tubes had already been replaced with Russian tubes. It is not the cleanest or most linear amplifier. But it sure is fun and very powerful. It has a very big tube sound. The sound opens up tremendously, and it is very warm and smooth sounding.
Feliks Envy is cheaper than this and looks way better, probably perform also. I run my old Feliks Elise on custom set of tubes it sounds amazing with high impedance headphones.
@@paulc7190 for that cash I could get a really nice used car xD but its all about what person do need more to be happy not everybody are mainstream people who live like in matrix, some are special with special needs
Feliks makes good amps but they're severely overpriced. Elise used to be $700 but with minor upgrades and their popularity it's now almost 2 grand. You can get a Crack for much cheaper if you want the OTL sound, or maybe even a Ta-26.
Those are shorting plugs and should really only be used on the phono jacks (turntable). Never place them in the “outputs” (tape out) jacks. Some people place them on all inputs (except outputs), but you really should only place dust caps (no center pin) on inputs. That buzz is probably from the “leaking” emi from the phono jacks. Place the shorting caps in the phono inputs and that should help. Btw, you can remove the center pin (unscrew them) to use them as dust caps. Hope that explains it.
Thanks Zeos ' that volume control OMG !!! Volume circuit means alot in sound quality ' So much so so purest don't use them lol ' they normally have a set 1 or 2 watts lol
Zues do you have any idea how many electronic components one can purchase with $9000. Considred an resistor costing around 0,01 cents. So what do they do, they dolly it up to look impressive that is it.At that price each components shyould be hand crafted from raw mateials, I saw some amps in the expose that cost a $ 140 K and as an electronic engineer of more than 50 years in defence electronics using the highest standards of components. I just cannot see where they spin these costs from/ The mind boggles.
Mostly production costs with economies of scale. It's very cheap to mass produce something once you've got an entire factory for it, which is worth building for common components often sold in bulk. This is a different story when you sell handmade products or products sold in such small quantities to where the customer pays for the tooling and man-hours required to make the product. That said, there's obviously limits to this and some products just get a fat tax for no reason ;)
Best my HD600's have sounded: Stock cable, fenestrated pads from Dekoni Schiit fulla 2 (the one with the mic in) line out as a DAC Modular Electronics ME 25 Pre amp as headphone amp, RCA to 3.5mm The ME25 is an obscure preamp made in the 80s or something, class A, adds a nice warmth to the HD600s while remaining very linear. It's got a low impedance output so I can plug the 300 ohms straight into the output.
@@carminedesanto6746 I was the first one using it as preamp, anyway you are not getting anything just watching RUclips because Hifi is about practice and implementations and one thing for sure is cheap stuff use cheaper everything for their mass production:)
Speaking of dumb amps, did you ever review the Blue Hawaii? I know a lot of people were asking for it and if that’s a a thing you have yet to tackle, I’m willing to volunteer mine.
I am wondering how loud you listen to music versus Goldwerger does? He says the Wa23 Luna is an excellent pairing for it. While you and a few others say the WA23 isn't enough.
Well yah! You can't just use the default tubes or you are short-changing yourself, you need to tube roll. You won't regret it. Edit: My Bias I am a Woo customer, but I have not heard this particular amp.
Apologies if this has been covered in another video - but what is the ideal value to put in a tube amp? At what point does it become diminishing returns? $9K obviously, but what about $500? $1,000?
The problems of Headfi Reviewers are lacking both empirical and technical experience. The value of Wa23 as a pre amp shall only be judged among pre amps at that price range, which clearly these RUclips reviewers don’t have any clues. So the only reference is their ungrounded subjective assumption as well as the Socioeconomics of their fan base.
You got any plans on doing a 660s2 video? They're on sale atm and I'm Stuck between 660s2, ndh-30, dt1990, sundara's. Currently using NDH-20's looking for a good pair of open back.

i love to listen to your voice but also i love to see you talking because of your mimic. why dont you show your face also when youre talking. and i miss more cooking videos too...
Something I notice in these video's is whenever the review is for a high end amp he uses lower end headphones and lower end amps with high end headphones. A 9000 dollar amp deserves headphone better than what he is using.
Well you can give them to me. I use headphones, especially on tubes, that I KNOW tubes effect in a positive manner. It could be a $50 IEM or a custom DIY. So long as it changes in some way vs Solid State it qualifies. ALSO, you have to understand I am using this thing for weeks before these reviews and there are only so many headphones I can fit on the desk for the actual video. So i pick and choose whatever.
To me, that’s a good thing. If high end audio is only tested with high end products… it totally defeats the purpose of joe 6-pack getting into the hobby. Sorry, you HAVE to buy $3000 (or more) headphones in order to enjoy this product. A good product will do its thing, if its a good product.
I mean. I would say in-corruptible since I literally told you not to spend $9000 on any audio product and instead give to a charity and buy something reasonable.. But whatever. Unless you are BIG-HiFi and are looking at your self interest.. HRMMMMMMMMMMM
