"Morissette sings 'Never Enough' better than the original". I have said that numerous times in my comments to various reaction videos, and to hear you, Coach Tania, a vocal coach and teacher, expert in this field, say that, makes it more concrete! 🥰
Ever since I watched Mori perform this on the Wish Bus, and then in her Mother's Day concert, I've said to myself this was the best, among all other singers that have sung this song, the original singer included. Now, in David Foster's concert, she even improved it and cemented her owning this song. If I'm not mistaken, that change in the last part of the song was an arrangement by David, to give that extra punch, that "dramatic finale" to a song, reminiscent of Whitney Houston.
It's my first time to hear a knowledgable voice teacher discuss how Mori differs from other singers that make her stand out from the rest. Thank you so much, Tania, for that insightful information. 🥰

The original singer was Loren Allred and she used this song for her audition for either, The X-factor UK or BGT 2022. Loren has heard Morissette's version and her first response was to shake her head and hold up her hands, as if to say, 'I give'. There was admiration in her voice when she, 'WOW'!!!!!
Morissette has gotten away from the use of whistle tones. I do not know if this was for vocal protection , or her wanting to use her voice in better way.

I noticed Jennifer Hudson is loud and annoying though she can belt so high. I was thinking back then why she didn't win she could belt now i realized from your perspective. You enlightened me. Morissette is different than many artists she has all the arsenal that she needs to captivate us in a grandeur way. ♡♡♡
Yes, she has grown so much as a singer since then. Admittedly, she's still not one of my personal favorites because her timbre is a bit too heavy for me (same with Adele, can only listen to them for a little bit and then I need a break), but her improvement over the years is undeniable.
I love the full resonant sounds Jennifer Hudson gets, which is very rare nowadays. One reason she lost earlier than expected on American Idol is because there was a telephone outage in a large area in the state of her home town surrounding her home town, so her most heavy concentration of voters couldn't get through to vote for her. She actually gave a very good performance that night. But overall on American Idol she was somewhat inconsistent. Within a few years she got much better.
PS when she competed there was only telephone voting--they hadn't started text or online voting.

Morossette went to Repertory Philippines when she was younger. It's theatre and they use the English pronunciation instead of American English.
Morissette is really outstanding. I absolutely agree that her rendition of the song is better than the original. But I feel that that's the case with all of her covers. She is so captivating and exciting with her enormous talent. For me she is the best singer in the world. 👸🎶

Who do you prefer is the correct question. Lauren and Mori are fantastic but they are different people with VASTLY different early and current experience. No way to compare them other than who you prefer. Having said that Mori fills the room, is never short of anything and always gives it all. I leave technical stuff to you :)

I think Morissette is much better than the original (Loren Allred)...she has such great breath control, range, vowel modification, mouth positions, body placement...she was trained as a young girl very well, and she has had some very good vocal coaching, and has practiced, and studied her craft...she also has learned to truly "sell" a song to an audience you have to emotionally connect to what you are singing, and make it sound authentic...she is an artist!!!!!

That umodulated loudness is one thing I didn't like about Katrina Velarde, where she also sounded shrill in the high notes. But recently I've seen a couple performances by Katrina where she has controlled all that and she's much better.

I appreciate what you're saying about Morissette and her smoothness. But sometimes I prefer less smoothness for some songs, for example with Jona Viray, where the huskiness and grit of her voice adds to the emotional impact, especially when she modulates from soft to loud.
This isn't a song that really needs huskiness or grit.
@@JollyOng2 It may benefit from it. Loren Allred has more grit in her voice that Morissette also. However, I do like the full resonant sound of Morissette's voice also, but more on other songs.
It's a live performance vs in a recording studio with lots of corrections added and dubbing
