This is both a preview clip and a deleted scene from an animation I'm working on, the second part of the "Godzilla Gets a RUclips Award" video ( • Godzilla Gets a YouTub... ).
The preview part lasts until 2:05, this segment will be part of the finished animation in some form. The rest of this clip is a scene that I decided to scrap. The dialogue went nowhere and didn't fit into how I wanted the scene and the rest of the conversation to play out. Plus, there was already a lot of dialogue in the animation anyway, it needed some trimming.
I have planned out this bit of banter between Godzilla and Rodan years prior, and it's a bit disappointing not to put it into any major video. The inspiration behind Godzilla's design, a pastiche of American and Czechoslovakian paleoart from the mid 1900s, is one of my favorite subjects in the history of dinosaur and monster-themed media, and I've always wanted to reference it in one of my animations. So at least here it is in a deleted scene.
Decontextualized, it sounds like a bunch of gibberish, but a lot of what Godzilla is saying is true.
-I'm assuming the psychoanalytical spiel made in the beginning is at least loosely rooted in some real world speculations regarding why dinosaurs and monsters fascinate us so much.
-The "scrotum" fossil misidentification is something that actually happened IRL.
-Godzilla's character designers did base his appearance off of a T-Rex, stegosaurus, and an iguanodon.
-His overlooking the iguanodon recalls the "cross between a stegosaurus and a T-Rex" explanation Dr. Arnold Johnson gives in the US cut of King Kong vs. Godzilla.
-That particular iguanodon is Czechoslovakian, having been painted by Czech paleoartist, Zdenek Burian.
-Godzilla's claim that the Jurassic was 2 million years ago comes straight out of the original film, which misdates the period.
-Godzilla was born in the 20th century both IRL, conceptually, and in the Heisei continuity, when the H-bomb blast mutated the Godzillasaurus.
-Godzilla's species arose in the Permian, per the Monsterverse's continuity.

I loved the amount of detail to that part of the script. the duality of man and it’s fear of monsters is actually the inherent fear of actually being monsters ourselves, which we kinda are, which is kinda cool and kinda sad.

Makes clear sense to me, as we all know humans came into view in the triassic period along with Czechoslovakian flowers and moles.
And of course the dinosaurs came in the Cenozoic, making Godzillas appearance rather fitting.
The three dinosaurs gained human-like intelligence and time-travelled to the Permian period. The tyrannosaurus fertilized the stegosaurus egg which was then carried to term inside an iguanodon, much like a kiwi bird.
How come that this is the only historical education where i don't instantly get bored or fall asleep?
