Everything that has to do with half life seems to have a troubled development..
very true, probably because they are so extremely ambitious, but I've gotta admit it's been fun to work on!

I wish the BM team would tackle the expansions. I want design continually between BM and the expansions, so it feels like the same facility.
Yeah, but Crowbar Collective doesn´t seem like they would do it.
They are working on making Xen, which I presume will be very good, as they can design singleplayer campaigns.
They will (I hope) probably extend "Surface Tension" to HL1´s length and will hopefully find a balance between HL1´s "On A Rail" length and BM´s "On A Rail" length.
Too add onto all of that, they are struggling with the multiplayer too.
Once everything is done and polished, they´ll probably not make instantly go and make their own Blue Shift and Opposing Force remakes.
+MegaKosan I like black mesa's take on the "On a Rail" chapter. I think that it's better than HL's.

But maybe Black Mesa´s OaR could have been a bit longer.

If HL1 has Black Mesa remake. Then the expansions must have it because it features more and better weapons than HL1 and more aliens. Also this is the best opportunity to import those weapons and assest to the other expansion, the Blue Shift. It's the only way I can ever replay it again

Let's address the strider in the room. For years now, every single bit of Valve news and every update Steam pushes through has resulted in a fresh round of sarcastic yet subliminally hopeful chatter: Half-Life 3 confirmed!
To which I say: slow your roll, Internet. We've got some unfinished business to attend to. A broken promise. A missing chapter. A little something called Half-Life 2: Episode 3.
I'm confident this is, deep down, what we all really want: another two-to-three hours of content using the same assets and enemies from Half-Life 2. We want to fight more slow, stupid Combine soldiers while they issue their familiar barks. We want to solve yet another giant see-saw puzzle with the gravity gun. We want to stare at a brick wall waiting for a new level to load, then run through the new level for three minutes, then stare at another wall while the next level loads. We want to climb back into that rusty, ugly-ass car and hit the gas only to immediately hit the brakes because the radar is showing a supply cache. We want to spend more time watching Alyx Vance do a bunch of cool things like bashing zombies with the butt of a shotgun or using a sniper rifle or climbing over walls, which we, as Gordon Freeman, cannot do ourselves for some reason. Most of all, we need to hold Valve accountable for their promise, made in June of 2006, that the three episode series will conclude by Christmas 2007. That's the "three" that's important, here. Not Half-Life 3. Episode 3. Make it happen.
j/k, of course. This year, Valve, just announce something, anything genuine about Half-Life 3, even if the announcement is that it's never going to come.

I hope that Operation: Black Mesa and Guard Duty allow the Steam Workshop because if I'm playing Black Mesa, Half-Life 2 etc in order of lore I want them all to look the same model wise if you know what I mean.
I wish the black mesa team would work with these guys letting them use there version of the source engine and there assets allowing for a beautiful remake as seen in black mesa. this also would allow for the games to have the same artistic style and overall similar feel.
What would you rather. Same black Mesa type game or something completely new and fresh.

Please make an update of this, When I got on the tripmine studios webpage, I saw some stuff about the Black Mesa announcement system, Black Mesa Visitor Center and more.
Black Mesa Insecurity is now back in production, as the creator was waiting for the retail release before going any further in development.
Both are back, so expect see something interesting next year about these 2 proyects.
The mod "Insecurity" is far from dead, the dev said not too long ago that he is waiting for the Black Mesa retail version to get Xen, then Insecurity will be released, the dev said "I do not wish to create my own Xen," But until Xen is out, We will have insecurity, and definitely before "Guard Duty"
Been following these mods for years, just wish they'd be released!

I hope Operation Black Mesa get released soon, I have been waiting a LONG TIME.
After over a decade in development, Black Mesa finally released and showed it's more than possible to make an awesome remaster of Half-Life. I hope Crowbar Collective teams up with the other developers to make the remasters the best they can possibly be.
Eh no. If CC teams up with TS then the mods will be ruined because:
1. Completely different takes in development.
2. Some of TS’s work would have to be redesigned.
3. Tripmine isn’t affiliated with CC anyway.
4. Both teams are different, with different assets, skills, artistic performances, etc.
Forget about Freeman, we are cutting our losses and pulling out! Anyone left down there now is on his own. Repeat, if you weren't already, you are now

I would honestly prefer Valve to throw a bunch of money at the Black Mesa team, so that they can develop Xen, multiplayer, OF and BS on their own. They are the only team so far that showed to be able to handle this kind of long running projects, but with Valve behind them they could really step up their game and cut the development time. I would be glad to pay a finished product on the same level of quality of Black Mesa.

I'd hope Military Coverup Simulator- Uh, I mean, Operation: Black Mesa has a little more explanation into Race-X. Just somewhere. Maybe scientists figure it out.
I mean I know what they're doing now, but back when I first played Opposing Force, and years after it, I just assumed they were new enemies to fight and that's it. It didn't even occur to me that damn near all the Xen aliens disappeared completely in the second half of the game, and I didn't think too much about the Gene Worm or their purple portals or anything. There was a really interesting story going on there, which made it an even greater companion game to regular Half Life.
It does make me wonder if Valve even considered using any elements of Opposing Force in Half Life 2 or its episodes. No mention of Race-X, no mention of Black Mesa's destruction via large bomb... Hell, when Episode 1 started, I assumed that Freeman was being released from Gman's employment(?) via vortigaunt interception, and that the Gman would fish Shepard out from wherever he was keeping him to finish whatever Freeman was doing and/or terminate Freeman... That would've kinda interesting.
But no. So far, everything of Opposing Force is going pretty much how the ending said it would with the Gman. Situation resolved, no witnesses and Shepard is detained for a time so he can't tell anyone about it... Really hoping Shepard makes a return in the future.
Ya I just beat opposing force yesterday and is still don't get what they were but the worm was way better than the nahilanth

Would you do Everything Known About TheStargateMod? It's a mod for Half Life 2 based on Stargate series, so it's kinda have something do with Half Life and through that with Valve. I would love to see it!
Bottom line is, nobody is bringing a remake of these mods, because they can't get their act together. Opp Forces lacked quite a bit to really mean something, and Blue Shift was quite a late release and had too short a playtime.
It's 2016 no new's for both remakes but there is a half life game coming out which is a sequel to up posing force.
To me personally, if they do operation Black Mesa, I hope they work on the marines a little more. Why? Because I want them to include female marines so they be like the ones from Aliens.

I think all of this will be redone AGAIN once Black Mesa is out on Steam with all their assets being open to everyone.

quiestion: guard duty are a mod or a game to buy on steam
its an independent game, all you will need is a steam account to buy it on steam, when it ever it is playable. Go look at the FAQ on Tripmine Studios' Forums.

Barney never saw G-Man like that, I'm pretty sure Barney doesn't even know G-Man exists, Shepard on the other hand does, because he is one of the only other people who gets taken by G-Man, so that video kinda pissed me off...
sobekflakmonkey Play the game again, during "Duty Calls" there is this thing you have to do to get the trams working, Gman passes by you in a team while you try to get across the other side
Blank Blank well, even if you the player saw G-Man and are familiar, I'm thinking in terms of what Barney sees and knows and you can tell even in HL2 ep 1 and 2 he's not aware of G-Man, at least I don't remember him being aware. (the character)

I remember thinking this same thing a while back. Nope it is Tripmine, not Tripwire. Tripwire made those games, Tripmine is it's own studio formed for Op:bm and GD. Also I just realized this is a 2 year old comment, but oh well :D
