Thank you for this video, 5 years later. I have a 2014 Altima and had to aim my left headlight after I replaced with LED headlights. The right side was fine after LED replacement. Now I have them as perfectly even as I could. You’re the man! Thanks bud! BTW these are excellent cars 182,000 miles and still drives like it has 50,000. Comfortable, good A/C after replaced a bad solenoid on compressor. Good, Good cars!

Thank you so much for this video! My 82 year old mother purchased a 2014 Altima. When I drove it the other night I discovered the headlights were WAY too low; to the point of being very dangerous (My mom told me she drives with the high beams at night). I bought the long screw driver from Harbor Freight and followed your directions. Boom. Ten minutes later I was done and the car is safe to drive at night.

@@jamesniece5203 Ridiculous. I checked the voltage to the headlights: Fine.
I had my regular shop check it: they said electrically they were fine. They tried aligning them and said they wouldn't align. I pulled them out and cleaned the inside of the lenses. I confirmed the aligning mech works.
Like you said, they need a lot of turning when they're that far out, so clearly the shop didn't try hard enough. Even with the wheel well splash guards still out, I couldn't get to that darn toothy but to align them.
I searched for headlight alignment tools and found your video. All I need is #2 Phillips on a 12" shaft?!!??
I spent those hours figuring out how to pull the light assemblies, and all I needed was a stinkin' screwdriver?!?!
You, sir, are a godsend! I'd only I'd found your video a few days ago.
P.S. it's wierd how this severe headlight misalignment problem is somewhat common in these models.

Thank you so much for your instructional video on adjusting the headlights with ease. I had my 2014 Altima headlights adjusted effortlessly in just a few minutes. The #2 Phillips screw driver I used was longer than the typical length, but a lot shorter than yours.
For others reading this.....if your 2013-2015 Altima headlights are very dim, I STRONGLY advise to replace them with the Rock Auto "TYC" brand. I don't know how well they will hold up over the years, but I was impressed with their brightness and also with the information TYC posted about their quality control, materials, and such. They cost me $194.00 with shipping and sales tax included.
Nissan refuses to issue a recall on this degrading condition with their 2013-2015 headlight assemblies. What happens is that the reflective coating inside the projector lens, burns off from the heat generated from the light bulb. The more you use your headlights, the quicker the reflective material disappears, so every Altima will degrade at different rates pending headlight usage. I logged my complaint on the NHTSA here.

That is correct. I replaced the headlight assemblies and they were clockwise to aim up. If you are reading this and your lights are very very very very dim, you have to replace the assemblies. Nissan will not make a recall on them even tough they should be recalled since the "lenses" deteriorate. It's not hard at all, $200 for the pair and you will save about $800, which is what Nissan and a local body shop wanted to charge me. RUclips has several videos how to.
And to James, thank you for the video. Awesome dude. I had no clue how to aim them.

Archfapper commented 2 weeks ago that Nissan got sued over these headlamps, I didn't know that, but I had a recall on my 2015 for the issue and just got it back from the dealer. They originally told me when I first took it there for them to inspect to see if I actually had the issue, that not the entire headlight assembly, but only the reflector part of the headlight assembly would be replaced. But when I got it back 3 days ago they had replaced both the entire headlight assemblys. Guess they changed their minds on replacing just the reflectors, probably much easier and less time consuming for them to change the entire assemblys. Thanks for the video. I'm guessing they set the low beams at the legal adjustment, but they're way too low for me. Looks like they're only beaming 30' down the road. I don't want them in anyone's eyes but I like mine adjusted a little higher than that!

Thanks for making the video, it helped me without causing me to spend a whole lot of time trying to figure it out myself, and it's not in the owners manual either.

Thanks for providing the location of the adjusters; I normally get a service manual for everything I own; but have not gotten one yet for my wife's car.
If I remember correctly at 25 feet distance; the beam should strike at 4 feet high on a flat wall; I use reflective tape on my garage door.
I am not sure this is a 100% solution for this model; as I took that out of the service manual from another vehicle; but it should be a static standard scale of measure.
I have LED's in my Z06 and HID in my RAM, so I put LED's in my wife 2015 Nissan Altima and they were way to low as well; this seems to be the norm from reading the comments on this model and very well maybe the norm for imports; It is the first import ever owned; and definitely not sized for my or the standard american sized ass.
    thanks again
    Peace
Addendum: By state law: The minimum height from the ground for headlights is 2 feet; the maximum is 4 ½ feet.

Thank you for the video, we just went to the dealership in out area this passed Monday and was informed that Nissan made a big change with the 2014 Altima. That in order to adjust the low beams lights the front bumper and radiator had to be removed. We told them to forget it.
