Hi guys, I wanted to update you since I made this video. Due to the bad customer service, I actually give Koi Footwear a 1.5/5 stars. --- It has been 3 weeks and I have had one of the worst customer experiences with Koi Footwear concerning the return of the 2 damaged shoes I sent back. For some reason there's been a different person replying to my emails asking for the same repeated information, and they don't understand how postage works in the US (I am assuming the person dealing with my return is from the UK). They have incredibly poor grammar and writing, and it's been 3 weeks of 20 back and forth emails concerning my return. Delayed shipping is a fault of USPS, but I have been repeatedly asked for "proof" that I sent the package back even though I provided a tracking number and then the a photo of my shipment receipt, and they can't seem to stay on track with what items I even returned (even though I filled out their forms and everything). So in addition to losing nearly $30 on shipping to the US and returning DAMAGED items, I also have to deal with poor customer service. This is unacceptable for Koi Footwear, and unless you guys are willing to just keep whatever shoes you get, I strongly suggest you completely skip koi to avoid dealing with a mess like mine. -- update -- It has been about 4 weeks and I finally received a refund, so that's good I guess. But it definitely wasn't worth the trouble and I lost a lot of money to buy these shoes. I'll be looking for alternatives for people who like this style, so stay tuned!
@@zoejackson6902 I'm glad you saw it too! I honestly wish there were more honest reviews on Koi, I think a lot of the hauls/reviews are sponsored so people don't dare say anything bad or they get special treatment for promoting them. I'll look into other alternatives!
@@aesthral Hi, I strongly recommend you don't buy from Dollskill as they are very problematic (not ethical or sustainable, against BLM, stealing designs from smaller brands etc). Warning to international shoppers in the US - their returns department is a mess. Keep very good documentation of your return. Make a video of yourself dropping the box at the post office, keep return receipt (returns not free for U.S. shoppers!) , and prepare to have to fight for your return to be acknowledged... or don't buy their plastic... I absolutely agree with you! The fact that I had to send a physical photo of my receipt (even though they already had my tracking number) was pretty ridiculous, and I even sent photos of the broken packages and shoes they sent me, only for them to ask "why are you returning the shoes"...an absolute nightmare.
omg thank you so much for this u literally saved my almost empty bank account :c these are rlly not worth it but i rlly hate how hard it is to find a pair of good quality, pretty, comfy and affordable mary janes

I feel so out of everything... I have never heard of this brand! 🙈 I like the chunky Mary Janes best but I have very narrow feet (opposite to you) so I am sceptical to them fitting properly. Also, I hate it when they skip sizes... 😒 My size doesn't exist in Dr Martens, for example, but it sort of works because they are boots and I use woolly socks most of the time in mine. But you cannot really do that in Mary Janes 😅
Believe it or not, I only heard of them about 2 months ago too! 😅I don't really shop shoes online (for a reason haha) so I don't know a lot of the brands out there. Yeah, the Mary Janes would probably fit you a size smaller if you're a half size, because they were definitely too big even for my wide feet! I especially have problems with heels because of the small but wide feet problem, so if I find heels that fit me, I hold onto them for dear life haha😂
@@jemi_ Haha... I bet! Good shoes are so tricky to find. I made a pledge with myself to only from now on buying comfortable shoes and not compromise 'because they are cute' like I did in the past.
Is that why mine didn't fit right? Feck. I had narrow feet as a kid and seems I didn't grow out of it. It's also gonna make it more akward to buy knee high boots as I'm plus size I need to buy them from specific places, and alot of those are also wide fit... Edit, oops thought I read the comment same as you not opposite. Ah well, I've had some problems in other shoe places but could just be janky fits. This video 5/5 I have to say I've already bought the mary janes. Your review was accurate. The only story I have is I bought what was the biggest size in stock. It was on my feet but as I walked in them I realized they were way too small. They put black dye on my white socks. I couldn't exchange them because I already wore them. I thought they were cute but the tight fit and how the dye exchanged onto the socks was very disappointing. You would believe that was my final go with Koi. For a while that was but I found they had a bigger size of the mary janes and I went for them. Those mary janes were the right size. They're perfect mary janes. My only criticism is Koi should build with higher quality materials and I hope they do more in the size. So far all I see are the black and white cow print, the troll print, and the black. I'd like more colors than that. It's why I've been looking around for other designers. I'm getting some An*Tai*Na mary janes made. I'll hope they're better than Koi mary janes. I know this was a long comment. I'm only feeling like leaving a long comment because I think you did a great video and maybe more comments means better algorithm engagement so that means I helped your video getting into the search results. You looked very amazing in your shoes and more shoe reviews would be very needed in the RUclips sphere.

@@caffe1n8ed They're nice materials and reliability so there's a little point increase. I must give them a big point deduction for the discomfort. I have to take a wide width in my size. One day they felt so tight I stopped wearing them after then.
Very interesting Video! I recently bought their "Allegiance" Boots off of Asos and within the first 2 Weeks of me wearing them the sole on one of the shoes completely fell off. Wanting to give them another try (because I REALLY loved the boots) I repurchased them and the same thing happened again within 1 Week of wearing them. Oh my goodness!! Please tell me you took pictures and got your money back! That sounds horrible, I knew the quality wasn't good when I tried mine on, and I wonder if especially the heels would've looked dreadful or the leather would've completely peeled off eventually. I hope you got a refund, as I know they overcharge for the shoes + shipping.
Hey thanks a lot for this video! Definitely helps informing before buying them, and it is quite entertaining :p Will be looking for your vid about how to style chunky shoes.
I was searching for a review like this, thanks!:) Would you say that someone that hasn't a half size can be luckier with the mary janes? I'd like to buy these exact pair but I'm worried about the size (I'm a EU 39 so a UK 6)
I'm glad my review was helpful! You'll probably have better luck not being a half size for sure, but I can't say the same for the quality or returns if you do end up needing to return an item. For mary janes, I'd honestly look elsewhere like YesStyle, nastygal, or shein.
I got a pair of shoes from there as a gift, and I haven’t worn them yet. Hopefully they hold up well enough for long enough, and if they don’t I can and will find the strongest glue I can purchase in a reasonable price range, or even ask to 3D print black soles that will fit onto the shoes and DIY it because they were expensive as hell and they look BADASS
superglue is your best friend! Yeah the sneakers have held up well since I got them, and I think it really just depends on what type of shoes you got. Good luck with your purchase 😊
I just got boots from them, and i was surprised about the quality. (I paid 40$ for them) First impressions are that they seem very good quality for that price. I'll see how they hold up but right now they seem more comfortable than my docs.
I'm glad they're working out for you! Perhaps along with the popularity of Koi Footwear rising, they've had the opportunity to invest in higher quality materials. I hope they last a long time for you!
im here bc im currently binging videos about koi footwear haha! i’ve just gotten a few pairs from them but not from the brand koi footwear directly- i ordered some clothes on a site called everything5pounds, which kinda resells old/unsold stock from various clothing brands for only £5 each, and i was surprised to find two pairs of shoes from the brand koi footwear! it was a familiar sounding name as i’ve seen posts about them on insta before but i didn’t expect to find them in my parcel after only paying £5 for each pair which i’ve heard is quite a good price for koi shoes lol
Omg it's so sad how great these shoes look but how poorly they fit/wear :(( I hope there are other brands like it that can have good designs AND wearability. Thanks for the review, I'm gonna pass on them now...
Yeah unfortunately the brand is a flop. I've recently discovered that ASOS has a lot of good shoes, some of them in similar styles as Koi (though often not as bold). They also have options for wider fits for people like me so I'd check them out if you haven't already :)
aww i was thinking about buying some chunky sneakers from them :( glad i looked for reviews before actually buying from them! do you have any similar brands that don't suck and offer half sizes? i have a pair of demonia creepers but they're too big :/
I haven't had any luck with finding better alternatives yet. I've bought a couple boots from W Concept from a smaller brand based in S. Korea and they've been great, but apart from that and doc martens I haven't found anything I'd be willing to spend my money on.
it seems like Koi bumped their shoe quality up a bit but most shoes are still better off in a collection shelf than actually being worn. I bought the sweetheart mary janes from the melanie martinez collab and you can't even take a single step in them without the velcro of the shoe falling off. The shoes are also uncomfortable to walk in. It makes me so sad that these pretty designed shoes can't be worn for anything more than a photo shoot
I'm so sorry about your experience, but I also wholeheartedly agree with you! The shoes I kept were incredibly uncomfortable and often caused me to have a lot of ankle injuries and blisters, so I eventually got rid of them. I've had this same experience with soooo many different brands and it's honestly exhausting to even attempt any online shopping anymore.
Sounds like heel grips might have helped with the heel coming up with the Mary Janes. I'm getting some for a wedding so hopefully they don't break on me on one day and any other special occasions.
me *screams like a rat in the video* "the way you talk is cute" make it make sense haha (no but seriously thank you, I'm actually insecure about my voice so you made me feel a lot better 😳💗)
@@jemi_ You shouldn't be insecure about your voice. I love how cute your voice is. You speak similar to one of my Finish Swedish friends and she is such a lovely person so I think of her too when I hear you speak. 😊
@Miss Matti aww thank you💗😊I don't really recognize myself having a different accent from others, but my accent confuses most people because it's not the typical Finnish accent a lot of Finns have.
@@jemi_ True that! It's not obviously Finnish at all. My accent confuses people a lot too haha.. Canadians love to ask where my accent is from. There is no easy answer 😅
Hi, unless you're buying them from an external site with a good return policy, I wouldn't! I don't think these shoes are even worth that, considering how quickly they get damaged and break.
Hi, I genuinely cannot answer that question for you, unfortunately. The sizing is so inconsistent and I am also a half size so I sized up for everything. I'd like to say they run big if you're a half size, but it really depends on what kind of shoe you're getting (sneakers are easy to tie up tight enough but with buckled shoes or boots you're in trouble if it's too big). Either way, if you live in the US, I strongly recommend buying shoes somewhere else, because if the shoe is gonna end up being too big/small, you're going to have to pay a minimum total of $30 to ship it to you and back. And there are no free size exchanges.
@@zthetajulietta8184 I know how you feel, I was SO EXCITED about the shoes I got when I ordered them. I'll be doing more videos in the future on places where you can shop for similar styles like Koi, because I really like their design/chunky platform looks. For now, I've been finding a lot of similar shoes through ASOS, Nasty Gal, Sparkl, and W Concept. I haven't tried out these stores yet, but I'm planning to make some orders soon so stick around for that :) I hope this helps, I know how frustrating it is!
I have the opposite problem which is that I'm between size 37 and 38, but usually 38 is too big for loafers, mary janes etc, and 37 might be too small :(
I personally wouldn't get them since mine got bad scratches from the first 2s of me wearing them. I'd suggest maybe looking at the mary janes from doc martens or somewhere else where you know the quality is up to par.
they looks so nice, but for the life of me I simply cannot bring myself to like chunky shoes idek what it is- maybe they remind me of construction shoes or just how wide my feet are- but i feel so bad since my friends really love them, and they look so cute! especially the croc heels!!
I knoooowwww, it took me forever to feel comfortable in my first pair, and it took me soooo long to get used to these mega chunky sneakers I kept from this haul. I seriously always felt that the Fila sneakers trend looked too much like Sora's shoe style from Kingdom Hearts 1 hahaha, and I couldn't unsee it. I'm super selective about my chunky choices, but they're definitely growing on me, especially since most chunky shoes are comfy to walk in (except, sadly, the croc boots lol)! 😊
I just bought the bubble trainers because they're so pretty but damn it barely fits me... I have normal/wide feet, I already bought half size shoes in other brands and they are usually a bit too big for me so I thought I should stick to "normal" size.. but just like you, my feet slip in here 😥.. I walked in these for a whole day and God my foot arch hurted so much after 2-3hours ! And their sole is indeed hard and flat af ! Did you buy any padded sole ? And which one? Great review otherwise ! And did your shoes became a bit softer after using it? They're kinda hard and I'm afraid they're gonna hurt me forever 😭
Unfortunately I do still struggle with some discomfort size-wise. I haven't bought any extra padding, but I usually only wear these shoes out for a couple hours max for those reasons. I have also once completely torn my ankle joint from tripping over in them lol, that was not fun. I think the shoe feels ok-ish after time, but it's definitely more uncomfy than some of my other sneakers. You could always try expanding the shoes a bit with a shoe stretcher or other DIY methods.
if i’m usually a US 8, should i get the shoes true to my size or size down? because i also ordered the bubble trainers and sized up to a 9 only for them to end up being gigantic on my foot :(( they made me look weird when i walked and also it felt weird too :,)
could you maybe do one for lamoda too? ^-^ i've seen a BUNCH of negative and positive reviews online, so i'm so torn as to whether to order from them or not :(
I also don’t know what you decided on doing but I got a pair of chunky Mary Janes (roses) in October 2021 and the soul cracked in July 2022 and the straps stretch; in fairness I have walked in them a lot and used to walk home from school in them (40 minutes] but still quite quick. Tried superglue and they broke again after a couple of wears so not amazing :/
Hi, I'm not sure! I think it depends on how strict your dress code is. I personally have never attended a school with a dress code so I'm not sure if these would be appropriate.
I just bought mary janes from them... And i'm so sad about the results... So first i got size 40 (idk what that is in UK/US lol) which is usually my size. They were too small though. I walked 5 minutes and my feet hurt like crazy. When i'm just standing its okay but my feet slip to the front somehow so my toes get smushed :( then i got one size up but these are too big. The leather on the sides bump into my ankles which makes them very hurtful to wear. So i cant wear any of them without pain. Idk if they have to "break in" but i'm so so frustrated. I just started to create my fairy closet but i only have sneakers that are comfy but dont fit my dresses and skirts :( does anyone know an alternative? Maybe comfy shoes that go with fairy core? Or a bran that sells affordable comfy mary janes?
I would highly recommend getting some loafers! I also wear decorative sneakers (so like little iridescent bits or ribbons on them) in neutral colors to match outfits. I struggled for many years to find good mary janes, but I found a brand I liked on yesstyle, and I also got mary janes from Urban Revivo which actually fit my wide feet and are walkable. It really is a trial and error thing unfortunately. If you have wide feet, I'd definitely recommend a shoe style with a rounded toe. Too many brands make them small in the toes.
Hi, I'm not 100% sure since I sized up for mine. You could try it out, but you'll have to accept the risk that they may not fit and you'll have to pay extra for shipping.
yes, the black sneakers are still intact to this day, though I don't use them a lot cuz I've actually hurt my ankle more often than I should while walking in them 😅
I have a pair of koi footwear shoes I got through nasty gal. I’ve had them for 3 years and they still look perfect. I wear them almost everyday. They’re the t bar cleats
Hi, so I kept the sneakers for about a year and they got some scuffing around them, but they stayed mostly clean...probably because I didn't use them a lot :D I got into a lot of accidents with those platforms haha, it was a very bad idea and I eventually got rid of them too, since they weren't very walkable.
About 1 1/2 weeks. However, my return still hasn't been delivered after weeks of waiting, so I still haven't gotten my money back. If you're in between sizes, I don't recommend buying from them cuz you'll have to pay a total of around $35-40 in shipping fees if you also need to return anything.
The unfortunate thing about vegan "leather" is that it is plastic, a petroleum product. There may be some made from other materials (rubber?), but is there anything breathable? Petroleum products or rubber items can get stinky. Too bad those cool shoes didn't work for you.
Yeah, I don't really see the point of them calling the shoes vegan, other than for marketing purposes. Anything faux leather/wool/fur could be categorized as "vegan" for shoes especially, but that doesn't make them any more ethically produced/higher quality.
These shoes look exactly like cheap $1 made shoes made in China and shipped from like Shein or Wish and I the way the material looks, especially on the soles, looks super cheap and value, every Koi shoe I see on someone looks like a fake shoe to be honest, they look great, but they're the definition of cheap mass produced, made by a child in a sweatshop, and will break in a couple weeks. They're often on sale for like 70% too so if you're buying a $100 shoe and can get it for 30 and they still make a profit, then we're definitely getting ripped off. Everyone I know with Koi shoes has said they've broken within a month or two, and they try not to wear them a lot to make them last longer.
Oh wow, that's insane! I almost never wore the platforms I kept, and I eventually sold them because they were pretty un-walkable and I always hurt my ankles trying to walk in them haha. But yeah, I've noticed those sales too, I know a lot of brands that are essentially aliexpress dropshipping and I wouldn't be surprised if Koi were similar or the same.
I know that ASOS has a lot of bigger sizes and at least with ASOS if you still want to try brands like Koi Footwear you won't have to deal directly with them (and returns are usually easier with ASOS as well) :)
@@jemi_ thanks love i just recently looked on there and am defo going to order on there- I emailed koi and apparently they’re not even planning on restocking in size 10 for most styles!!! the new ones aren’t on restock lists etc and there were some really nice boots on there 😭

@@jemi_ yeah! I might even go as far as using compact cement, haha. That definitely will prevent the sole from detaching.
I just got boots from them, and i was surprised about the quality. (I paid 40$ for them) First impressions are that they seem very good quality for that price. I'll see how they hold up but right now they seem more comfortable than my docs.
Actually same, I think that they might have changed some things along the way. The two years gap does a lot in my opiniom.
ngl im scerd cause i just ppurchased but they havent arrived yet but i got impulsive so, i hope its worth it still
I'm glad they're working out for you!
Oh wow, £5 is less than I'd pay for a latte here in NYC, you really grabbed yourself a deal! Hope they fit on you nicely~ 💞
@@jemi_ yep! fortunately they were the perfect size! :))
@@jemi_ aw well thank you anyway! i'll have to check out w concept
it seems like Koi bumped their shoe quality up a bit but most shoes are still better off in a collection shelf than actually being worn.
Oh I should give heel grips a go! To this day I still haven’t found Mary Janes that fit my feet well
ik this has nothing to do w the video but the way you talk is really cute?? 😳😳
me *screams like a rat in the video*
"the way you talk is cute"
make it make sense haha (no but seriously thank you, I'm actually insecure about my voice so you made me feel a lot better 😳💗)
@@jemi_ aw im glad it made you feel better :)💘
I found the mary janes for about 30 euros. Do you think they are worth it at that price? Are they comfortable to wear on the daily?
Thank you!
Hi, unless you're buying them from an external site with a good return policy, I wouldn't! I don't think these shoes are even worth that, considering how quickly they get damaged and break.
how is the sizing do they run big or small? I'm a 8 1/2, and they don't have half sizes, so I don't know if you should go up to a 9 or down to a 8
Hi, I genuinely cannot answer that question for you, unfortunately.
@@jemi_ Hi! Thanks so much for the info
@@jemi_ yeah, shipping is like 50 bucks to where I am. That's why I'm trying to get the right size. I just want one thing though T.T
@@jemi_ thanks for the info, I'll try asos and nastygal! I'm after some funky dunky trainers and shoes
Sadly they don’t have my size (us 11/Eu 42) they only produce up to a EU 41. Sooo I can’t order shoes from them, same for the Brand Lamoda 😭
I have the opposite problem which is that I'm between size 37 and 38, but usually 38 is too big for loafers, mary janes etc, and 37 might be too small :(
Anyone have something to say about the Mary Janes? I can get them kinda cheap but I’m not sure if they’re worth it? :/
I personally wouldn't get them since mine got bad scratches from the first 2s of me wearing them. I'd suggest maybe looking at the mary janes from doc martens or somewhere else where you know the quality is up to par.
Demonia shoes sell a lot of Mary Janes :) and they have some funky other shoes too!
I need to look into Demonias now!
they looks so nice, but for the life of me I simply cannot bring myself to like chunky shoes idek what it is- maybe they remind me of construction shoes or just how wide my feet are- but i feel so bad since my friends really love them, and they look so cute! especially the croc heels!!
You could always try expanding the shoes a bit with a shoe stretcher or other DIY methods.
if i’m usually a US 8, should i get the shoes true to my size or size down? because i also ordered the bubble trainers and sized up to a 9 only for them to end up being gigantic on my foot :(( they made me look weird when i walked and also it felt weird too :,)
HII I ALSO GOT THE MARY JANES IN SIZE 5. THEY ARE ALSO VERY "LOOSE" IDK WHY THEIR SIZES ARENT EXACTLY RIGHT
Yup, unfortunately the sizing is super inconsistent! I'm sorry it was a disappointment for you as well!
could you maybe do one for lamoda too? ^-^ i've seen a BUNCH of negative and positive reviews online, so i'm so torn as to whether to order from them or not :(
They do tempt me! Never purchased from them before, just might ;)
Idk if you ever got your answer but I own a lot of lamoda shoes and I’ve never had a problem with sizing or how long they last :)
Where can I get this dresss??
It’s so prettyyyy
I originally thrifted it here in NYC, but the brand is French Connection 😊
Is the tira classic Mary Jane allowed to wear at school? 😅
Hi, I'm not sure! I think it depends on how strict your dress code is. I personally have never attended a school with a dress code so I'm not sure if these would be appropriate.
What a great video!
Thank you!
Yikes, great designs, terrible execution. Thanks for the honest review
No problem, and yeah it really is a shame! I loved the designs, but if the quality sucks it's not worth it.
WAIT IM A 6.5 AS WELL BUT I WAS GONNA ORDER A SIZE 6 IS THAT OK
Hi, I'm not 100% sure since I sized up for mine. You could try it out, but you'll have to accept the risk that they may not fit and you'll have to pay extra for shipping.
@@jemi_ THANK ILY 🥺🤎
HEY WHAT DID U END UP DOING
Are the shoes still intact nowadays?
yes, the black sneakers are still intact to this day, though I don't use them a lot cuz I've actually hurt my ankle more often than I should while walking in them 😅
I have a pair of koi footwear shoes I got through nasty gal. I’ve had them for 3 years and they still look perfect. I wear them almost everyday. They’re the t bar cleats
What size did you get the black sneakers? ;o
Size US7 :)
how long did all those shoes last tho
Hi, so I kept the sneakers for about a year and they got some scuffing around them, but they stayed mostly clean...probably because I didn't use them a lot :D I got into a lot of accidents with those platforms haha, it was a very bad idea and I eventually got rid of them too, since they weren't very walkable.
How long was the shipping?
shipping took about a month, so not the best if you live in the US!
@@jemi_ awwww damn, I’m super impatient
The absolute best brand you can go for is new rocks. They would survive an apocalypse
Thanks so much for all these suggestions! I'm still struggling finding mary janes that I like haha
how long did they take to come?
About 1 1/2 weeks. However, my return still hasn't been delivered after weeks of waiting, so I still haven't gotten my money back. If you're in between sizes, I don't recommend buying from them cuz you'll have to pay a total of around $35-40 in shipping fees if you also need to return anything.
@@jemi_ Thank you! Hope your return gets delivered and you’ll get your money back
The unfortunate thing about vegan "leather" is that it is plastic, a petroleum product.
But yeah, I've noticed those sales too, I know a lot of brands that are essentially aliexpress dropshipping and I wouldn't be surprised if Koi were similar or the same.
omg your dress
Thank you!😳💕
the only reason I look at these shoes is cos they go up to my size in some styles… yikes when you’re pressed for size and have to go for this rubbish
I know that ASOS has a lot of bigger sizes and at least with ASOS if you still want to try brands like Koi Footwear you won't have to deal directly with them (and returns are usually easier with ASOS as well) :)
@@jemi_ thanks love i just recently looked on there and am defo going to order on there- I emailed koi and apparently they’re not even planning on restocking in size 10 for most styles!!! the new ones aren’t on restock lists etc and there were some really nice boots on there 😭
@@nahm7251 well I know a lot of resellers at least in the US should still have their shoes in stock. I think I’ve seen them at least in Urban Outfitters and ASOS to name a couple. YesStyle has a lot of great dupes as well
i can't even make payment . it's must be some god's actions
hahaha the gods said "NO." 😂
omg you are so underrated! Your channel is so amazing I really hope you continue doing these wonderful videos
Oh my goodness, I only saw this comment now! Thanks so much 🥺💙

As a guy those chunky shoes look awful on a girl the thin soles are really pretty
