R.I.P. Joe Strummer
You were the Best!
LONG LIVE THE CLASH!!!
Joe & mick sound so awesome. So sad Joe is gone.
October 12, 1982. I was there. It was amazing!
I was there ..
Me too..❤
I was at this concert, what a memorable evening it was....
eaglesfansurfin I was there, too. It was David Johannsen (of NY Dolls, and later Buster Poindexter) who opened, then The Clash, and then The Who. I remember security pulling a bunch of people over the fence in front of the stage. Awesome night.
+Michael Kaufman Minor riots in the parking lot afterwards. Best night of my life..
+Michael Kaufman Indeed we were in the first few rows, never saw anything like it, girls were getting pulled up by legs and arms
I was there too. Unfortunately I don't remember too much of the Clash or the Who. I do remember it was raining and the Who played Love Reign O're Me That was great.
lucky
I was a vendor at this show. Sold union jack bandanas. It rained. But it was grand.
It rained..I was there..The Greatest Concert I have been too..
Tengo 14 años y mi vida no estara completa nunca los escuchare en vivo en mi vida :( ya voy a chillar y tiene mucha razon Camila solo queda seguir recordarlos
THE CLASH HASTA LA MUERTE
Mick Jones got all the fucking style!!!
'We ain't got no football, they're on strike!'
We were too far back for the clash so we charged up to the stage, got to the front for the who. What a crowd.
Surprised RUclips doesn’t have the clashes entire show from shea. Just clips.
I was 16 from Bayonne and having a blast. Jump the railing past the Mets dugout and sprinted to centerfield. Swam in that sea to the front.
Got home at 6 AM as my father was heading out to find me.
I was at that show and it was better than you can imagine!
Was there for this. I was a freshman at St.John's prep in Astoria and went with my friend Tom. The Clash was not well rec'd by the Who fans and did have sound issues. I recall wondering why the floor was not full. I was one of the Who fans who fell in love with the Clash after this show. This is when New York was still NEW YORK. I don't know what this new elite bullshit New York is. Bring back this era of in your face nyc!! We built this city!
I could do without the muggings.
Is this the show I heard Clash was "boo" off the stage?
@@Mn09lfV6f I believe you are correct. It rained and I think we all were there for The WHO and the crowd was impatient.
Grandes!!
Amo a The Clash, demasiado.
Una banda tal vez quedará en la garras del tiempo, pero nunca del olvido.
Fue en algún tiempo "la única banda que importa"
Lo sigue siendo, siempre donde haya un fan escuchándolos
Was the bass re-recorded ? Hard to believe this is Paul playing live !
The sound here is very good
Lots of over dubs on vocals guitars drums the lot got reworked
I agree. I'd like to see this show on DVD , too. They held their own , surprisingly well. I remember hearing a show from the Who/Clash tour on the radio. You could tell they were'nt going over with The Who's crowd , like they did at Shea. Their "Fans" in the states had largely written them off by this time. I saw them in June , '82 , and they fucking killed it.
BTW - I don't know if Topper is part - owner of this property , as he did'nt play on it , but , I guess they each have a say, re. reissues and first - time official releases.
I read that the film footage was somehow accidentally destroyed so I don't think it will ever be released. So so sad!!! I would have LOVED to see it. Wish I could have been there but I was born in '85. Lol
I was at this when the tour hit L.A.. Who fans not feeling Clash at all!! Clash's PA went out briefly during their set and that didn't help warm the crowd and win any fans. I spent all week before telling my friends how great the Clash were live and how they were gonna hold their own opening for the Mighty Who!! sadly, didn't happen that day....
the pit though during Clash was unlike anything I'd ever seen to that point. Got separated from my date in the crowd and didn't see her again till next day!! Lol
It wasn't you and it certainly wasn't the Clash. The same thing happened in Detroit. The boos were louder than the band. And they were great. Almost got my ass kicked so many times for having the "audacity" to wear a Clash shirt. Feels good to still be on the right side of history.
@@DJName76 I was at the Shea Stadium concert and the sad fact is that The Clash were just so much more exciting and fresh. I love The Who, but they could have been playing Vegas.
I was there..14 years old...😊
You were a lucky 14 year old!
Fantastic the clash
but where is the DVD THOOOO
The Clash, jedna od boljih stvari. Jeeeeeeeeeee !!!!!!!!!!!
The fact they agreed to open for The Who shows the credibility they held with them. It's maybe THE concert I wish I could have said I was at.
My Daughter has just turned 9, she is obsessed with this album so what does 70'000 yanks know?
Quiero ese DVD, ya que nunca más los podre ver, es tan triste decirlo
Buscalo en Amazon
I was there!
The Clash is the greatest band ever. Fuck the Beatles and rolling stones, this is where it's at. No one had as much energy as them on stage. God love Joe, Mick, Paul and topper when he was there.
please make a Blu-ray whit this show!
Blu-ray please!
The gods of punk rock .
Full show DVD PLEASE!!!
I was at this show and after THE CLASH left the stage, I remember thinking that "WOW, did THE CLASH just blow THE WHO off the stage?", it was close and if THE CLASH had used a bigger P.A. it might have been...BUT THE WHO roared ! I spoke to the Guy that was the opening act that night, back in 2004, and good ol' D.J. said he 'Didn't even remember being there !"..the Guy was/is a ROCK STAR !
I always wondered why they chose Career Opportunities as the second song they videoed. I mean it ‘s a great song and particularly with Terry on drums I can understand why it’s in the set but why not something a little more 1982. Still love it though.
Open for the WHO is quite the career opp wouldn't you say?
Don Letts is the one who filmed all of this so I would imagine he's the one with final say about whether it all gets released on DVD. Apparently, that's not going to happen though since if he was going to do it he surely would have by now.
I read that the film footage was somehow accidentally destroyed. So sad!!! Otherwise surely they would have released it by now.
Actually, many guys were not missing anything to go to the bathroom. Many guys were pissing on the field. I was by second base a bit further away from the stage, and there was some room to alleviate oneself - lol. Incredible show. The surge to the chain links fence for the Clash set was wild.
I was there. I won a pair of general admission tickets from radio station WAPP 104.3 . I stayed up all night and was the 10th caller at 4 am 2 weeks before the concert. I was a big Who fan, but that night the Clash were WAY BETTER!!!
Rodger Daultry wore a suit that night. He said if the Beatles wore suits at Shea so could he.
Langendary!
DVD PLEASE!!!

This is when The Clash became the Rolling Stones.
Career opportunities "I don't want to die in the Falkland's Striat!" there's that Clash political attitude
IDK this FACT until 15 yrs later after this concert until 1997 when I saw the video "Should I stay or..."...U C,THE CLASH was driving around the Shea Stadium parking lot in that '59 Cadillac the afternoon of the concert and they drove up to the crowd I was with and started yelling at us: "FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU" and giving us the British 'FINGER', and all of us immediately started throwing bottles and cans at them, some hit the Caddy too.......we did not know who they were........if they had stopped they would have gotten killed....they way they drove off in a BIG hurry.......they knew it too.....
🌹🙏
Can't find any footage of UK Clash gigs in 1982/1983
Joe were in a rest hahahaha. So its kinda strange a gig of the clash
Is there a whole movie or just the two songs?
yo tengo 40 y me pasa lo mismo no te preocupes estan ahi siempre
The Who outlasted The Clash!
Gen X jewel
i was there, age 17........
vive le quebec libre
WHO WAS THE GUY WITH THE INTRO?
el tercero
when was the date for this show?
October 13, 1982
12th or 13th October 1982.
No Topper? :-(
soy el primero
Terry chimes is such a cool guy but topper headon is better
Rice Gum Well he had to have something because he played in Black Sabbath. But Headon is something way different.
Joe Strummer: " The end began the day we made Topper out. "
The "human drum machine "
Yes no one was better than Topper on drums.
I was at this show, the Clash was far superior to the Who this night. I love the Who but they should have been the opening act.... I left after a few songs of the Who.
How about telling us the fucking year it happened
How do you not know?
Can someone please explain tok me why did David Lee Roth HATED
The Clash so much?
Justin Andrews dunno, didn't know that. I'd guess it's because they're real and he isnt
He was an asshole
David Lee Roth is a talentless prick so thats an easy way to explain
redhotchilifan98 he’s a great frontman and entertainer but he couldn’t sing to save his life.He couldn’t even remember the lyrics to his own songs!
Because he's a poser and the Clash are for real.
Seems the Clash was booed at this concert.
cat tail hat wtf
The Who were the headliners but the Clash stole the show, the Who looked slow and gay and quite a disappointment after seeing them years earlier with Keith Moon.
using gay as an insult. what a bellend
Short haired hippies
