Hey FAMILY we didn’t mean any disrespect of any kind when it was mentioned that the guys were wearing bath robes. We did not know the significance of the wardrobe at the time of watching this performance. We went in blind and thought everything looked amazing and that the performance was incredible! So we did not mean to be disrespectful in anyway. We honor all cultures and it is a pleasure to learn about the Korean culture. And now that we know the significance of what the guys were wearing and what was happening at the end it makes it even more special. We honestly were just clueless as hell.
It's ok, we know you meant no disrespect, as a non Korean I had a bit of knowledge of the culture but couldn't get the meaning behind every thing because it went deep into the roots of Korean art and music, and I wasn't able to get the full picture until I watched a video by a Channel called ByStorm I think and it explained it beatifully even went to historical meanings. I would love for you to watch it not necessarily react or to fall even more into bts, but more to get to know other country's history and culture. Love you ❤ keep up the good work and stay authentic please.
ruclips.net/video/TA5X24c2FhI/видео.html here is the link 😊
Fatima Mek Thank you Fatima! I’m going to check it out today 🤓💜
Oooh that's great, I'm a bit nerdy when it comes to other cultures and history so I'm really exited for you hhhhh, maybe you could let me know what you thought of it 😅 I'm getting greedy hhh sorry I know you're busy, anyway enjoy it 😊
No worries, its normal to dont know, I enjoyed your reaction 💜 When you find time to check the Idol mv ,you can also check the explanation from the channel dkdktv. Also there is an alternative version of "Idol" featuring Nicki Minaj.
More information from Wikipedia: "Idol" is a "traditionally inspired track" featuring different classical Korean instruments. According to media outlets, the song and the music video were inspired by Korean genre pansori and John Woo's 1997 movie Face/Off. Yonhap reported, "The song is electronic dance music in the style of South African dance music. The African beats are layered with traditional Korean rhythms, as well as the pounding of a Korean folk percussion instrument used in the performance of traditional Korean farmers' ensemble. Rolling Stone India said, "According to the group’s label Big Hit Entertainment, “Idol” was inspired by gqom, a style of house music that originated in Durban, South Africa. Gqom combines powerful traditional thumping drum with bass and house synths in a balance between tradition and trend." adding, "The track’s blend of Korean instruments like the gakgung (the Korean horn-bow which explains the shehnai-like sounds) with African rhythms, trap rap and electronica contribute to expanding its culturally rich, diverse, global sound". Have a great day 💜
I think you'd understand Idol better if you watched the explained video. Basically its their tribute to their culture. All the dances they did, the drum dance, fan dance and the dance with the fabric and mask are all traditional korean dances. Plus the lion dancers and the head spinning are all korean. They meant for it to be a festival or celebration type thing.
joooooooo Let's not forget the African influences, hmmm...?
@@knittingarch oof yes fam. Sorry, i got fixated cause i was soeta answering to the guys comments on the actual video about the dances. That is true. Incorporating the african drum beats and dances with the korean seamlessly. Kings!
joooooooo No worries. Just want to make sure they are aware that African influences were there too :)
Explained by ByStorm is my favorite for the live performance elements, plus he does the MV as well.
19:54 reminds me of when French ARMYs were calling RM president during their last concert and he didn't get what they were saying and he just said "I feel you.. I don't know what you're saying but I feel you"
Lol everything does transcend language
You saying that their is a lot of bts content is an understatement. Even army that have been here for years haven’t seen everything
It's true! I've been an Army since Dec 2015, and I thought I'd seen everything, but then I'll find some video or fancam that I haven't seen yet. We're on this Bts shtt for life!!!
as an army who got into them during skool luv affair (feb 2014) i still feel ashamed about not watching bon voyage. i plan to start paying and watching it next week skskks ive seen most of it through clips and didnt even watch jin on law of the jungle till a couple months back either, theres so muchh
So true!
My first exposure to BTS was on SNL and while I fell down the rabbit hole and liked their music and their personalities... I watched the Muster concert that was on VLive back in June and just fell totally. They're so good on stage.
It doesn't take long or much to fall down the BTS rabbit hole. They are incredible young men. 💜🤟
I’m 59 and hit hard in 2018 when I took my grandaughter to LA to see them at the Staples center. Then we went to both Rose Bowl shows. I started watching them during them during Wings? But not with much gusto!
@@kathikai2000 I'm 54 and went to Staples, Rose Bowl, AGT and BBMA with my daughter.
That fifth muster was pure death for me. Still recovering from that one... 😂 🥵
@@knittingarch I know, right? I've watched it few more times lol. They are amazing performers but what made me love them more is their personalities. They are great people.
Gotta love the traditional Korean dancing. Idol is dope! They are also in traditional Korean clothing and Idol contains traditional music and dancing. Dkdktv will explain it further.
ooo great suggestion! Please React to IDOL Explained by a Korean by DKDKTV ruclips.net/video/IL7PEjk1pys/видео.html
I think this way bater then Dkdktv.. explained by this channel
ruclips.net/video/TA5X24c2FhI/видео.html
The production you've watched after Airplane pt2. was part of Korean Tradition and Culture. Combined with Korean lion dance. If you noticed the music in Idol you will hear some background live playing korean traditional instruments which added more festivity atmosphere in their performance. The solo that was performed by the 3J was also part of Korean traditional dance. 3J are BTS dance lines.
Jhope- traditional drum dance
Jimin- traditional fan dance
Jungkook- traditional mask dance.
Jimin even received an award from the cultural conservation society for his epic fan dance.
To add on, what they're also wearing is called "hanbok" a traditional korean attire being used in some festivals and ceremonies. Please do check out another Epic Award Show Performance MAMA 2016 Full Performance. That was consists of 3 performance, make sure to see the full performance as it was divided into 2 parts. It should contains Intro: Boy meets evil-Lie + Blood Sweat & Tears + Fire. Please do check out. That was so epic!!👌
MAMA 2016 Full Performance (Eng Sub)
ruclips.net/video/1KT4pR08ygo/видео.html
3J is _part_ of the dance line which also includes Taehyung now! (Sadly he didn't get a solo this time but 3J already did an expectaluar performance either way!!)
4:15 this is form the concept photos of the album
15:31 it’s a every traditional Korean dance and music
18:27 they’are not wearing bathrobes they're wearing traditional clothes call Hanbok
And I love your reaction 💜💜💜
They aren’t singing along. They are chanting their names!
This performance was filled with their culture, from the traditional clothes hanbok (not bathrobes) to the dances that 3J performs, and obviously, the live traditional Korean band and dancers. where all homage to their heritage showing their Korean pride. They received awards for this performance from the Korean president and Koren heritage committee. jimin was also recognized for his fan dance individually (as both jimin and hoseoks dance was traditionally meant for female dancers to perform, not only are they representing but breaking gender norms while doing so) and received an award. They inspired a new wave of Korean pride and many people said they will include Korean aspects in their performances after watching BTS.
This is one of BTS' epic performance.
This performance is like telling their haters and the japanese right wingers that they are Koreans and they will perform as Koreans.
Edit: I know you will love this stage performance and thank you for reacting to this 💜
I don't think its only for them. They are proud of their heritage, culture and country.
They are celebrating Korean culture...honoring differnet dances woth the silk ties, the fans..using Korean instruments..
They are very proud to be Korean & share their culture..
They weren't singing the lyrics they were chanting their names
Kim Namjoon
Kim Seokjin
Min Yoongi
Jung Hoseok
Park Jimin
Kim Taehyung
Jeon Jungkook
BTS
FYI, the intro and outro of Fake Love and Airplane pt. 2 was pre-recorded. When they were dancing in the boxes, fake love performance and Idol performance was live. The performers with the traditional instruments said that they were even doing their instruments live, too.
For idol, they were dressed in Hanboks, which are traditional clothing, not bathrobes. Also, the intro to idol was all traditional Korean dances. Jungkook was not dancing with towels, but was dancing a traditional Korean art form.
Jonathan come across as a very gentle soul until the dancing starts. Then, he is animated and jumpin.
There's a fan cam where you can see the stage actually shaking and the artists are taken aback.
Oh yeah! I remember that, but it was during Golden Disk Awards.
This is how I generally read the whole performance:
- At the end of Fake Love when they put on a mask (not being themselves anymore), they disappear as in they lost themselves to the facade that they decide to put up (being idol and must be perfect in public or how people have to act a certain way to be accept in society).
- From self doubt song like Fake Love we go on a journey of self finding like Airplane part 2.
- From this journey we finally love ourself and where we come from in IDOL song (that's why BTS show their Korean root in performance). Thus the most celebratorial feel in this performance.
Great reaction as always ^v^b!
p.s. I can't help but imagine how hectic the backstage must be between the songs because they change outfit so quick! I won't be surprise if they use stripper technique to slip off the cloth quicker to get into another one.
p.s.2 If you like Airplane part 2, The best Live version is MAMA 2018 in Hong Kong.
Far as i know, the airplane pt.2 is pre-recorded :-)
@1:41 That’s Jungkook by the way....yes it was the Intro to Fake Love, they performed three songs Intro to Fake Love + Airplane Pt2 (korean ver.) + 3J Intro to IDOL with three difference choreographies!
“Airplane Pt. 2” is their 8th song from ‘Love Yourself : Tear’ album on top of being the continuation of “Airplane” a track from J-Hope’s first solo mixtape ‘Hope World’ which is about his success story, this second part is the members' collective declaration of their success together. Which is why his mixtape was added among BTS album storyline. It brings latin inspired instrumentals with upbeat tempo that represents their growing influence worldwide, BTS established themselves as a group who triumphed through both their individual and collective hardships.
Thank you! As many have commented the performance of "Idol" incorporated traditional Korean elements from dance to clothing. You might have sounded ignorant but it's cool as long as you're open to learn.
Personally I've learnt a lot about Korean culture through BTS and it has given me new perspectives on my life. Like their notions of masculinity, hard work, respect for elders etc. Also Korean food is 🔥
Yes we don't know much at all but this journey is teaching us a lot and we love it. Honestly we didn't know anything about Korean culture until we started listening to BTS and its been a real pleasure. Please keep informing us. Thank you🙏🏼
15:33 This is crazy, I am Korean and I am so proud of BTS💜💜 I will show our kids to react specially IDOL 정말 대단한 무대를 찾았네요
Idk if you guys could hear but all those part that were of the army singing along (which they also were) they were doing the fan chants that BIGHIT provide for the army for every song they produce and for a lot of song before the song starts or in the lead up the song army chants
KIM NAMJOON
KIM SEOKJIN
MIN YOONGI
JUNG HOSEK
PARK JIMIN
KIM TAEHYUNG
JEON JUNGKOOK
BTS!
You could look them up or on RUclips the fan chants for videos
Their award show performances are all so amazing. They constantly outdo themselves each time. As always, thx for your genuine reaction!
Melon Music Awards along with MAMA Awards are the two award shows most people look fwd to. BTS in particular have been known to splurge for their performances at these shows. They always show something different every year, bringing out crazy dance breaks, song remixes, memorable collabs, and amazing intros. Watch their MMA and MAMA performances from 2015 onwards, you won’t be disappointed.
I love comeback season and tour season, but I also love award season! We get to see their epic performances and see the boys backstage in high fashion, and of course, making sure our boys get all the trophies they deserve! Love it!
I as a Korean American did not find it disrespectful. You just didn't know. You guys are great. By the way, its not towels either.
Justine Lim This means a lot. Thank you!
@@WhatchaGot2Say I love your reaction videos and watched all of them. And I subscribed!
Justine Lim So good to have you 🤓💜
imagine if BTS do this kinda performance on US Award shows lol show those westerns how's a performance should be done
Bangtan Persona EXACTLY! It would cause everyone to have to step it up big time!
You should react to their 2016 mama performance and let me just tell you it is iconic. Look up the full thing that includes boy meets evil. You won't regret it trust me.
This performance is definitely in the books of legendary performances. 🔥💜
Korean culture and Dance and most importantly Love yourself that's what BTS are saying , Thank you .
Is still the best stage performance ever in the entire world till now.
Big respect to this two man who appreciate and love kpop.. ( The other guys i knew was clowning it😏) you're open minded intellectual dudes💜
Award shows turn into their concerts! Has even seemed like that at American award shows.💜💜💜
Oh my that again Huggins all around! They really pulled out the Korean Culture. They used every aspect of traditional Korean dance...Fan, lion, drums, trick dancing that only a few of the guys know. This was fun going live...
One of their greatest openings so far at an award show.
who else rocks robes in style??? only the legends BTS! this stage is one of my fave performances they got! Celebration of colours!
💥💥💥BTS has so much phenomenal music , live performances, MV's, dance practice MV, you can be entertained for weeks! 55+ Mom BTS ARMY. So happy my 11byr old made me take her to a concert! 😊😊😊
Just fyi those arent robes they are wearing its the traditional outfit called hanbok they wanted to show to everyone who was saying they were westernized that they werent thats why the instrumental is using traditional korean instruments instead of the original track and everything they did was a piece of their tradition from the drums to the fans to the scarves and those werent camels but they were tigers which is the symbol for korea but they always go all out for their lives and they were the last performance so they got to rreally show off but they changed the show for the next nite in japan and did a completely different routine u should check that one out too
Tae really be popping though 😂
BTS at 2018 MMA’s: ⚫️🟤⚫️🟤⚫️🔴🟤
This is for me is the best performance ever... they incorporated/projected their culture in their show... with traditional costumes and music... wawww!
I love just starting this video knowing y’all are about to get shook 😂😂😂💜
They are tired. Lol! Namjoon usually lays down after they finish performing Idol especially this time.
Actually each bts song has its own fanchat specially made for live performances
Airplane pt2 is one of my favorite song. There is a MV but you will get a copyright strike since it under Japanese music entertainment
There are comeback performances you can watch
Idol performance pay tribute to their Korean culture. Jhope, Jimin and Jungkook doing Korean traditional dances
6:06 I feel like I'm in the crowd
*Every single I-Army*
The word spelled PERSONA, the name of the album.
I remember when i watched this performance through live streaming what an experience 😭💜 bangtan always surprises me
Also check their performance in kbs song festival, their fake love performance is my fav so far
Never get tired of watching this live performance! One of my favorites! They own the stage and that crowd, hands down to them!
no worries man it is okay specially when ylu habe no idea about their culture, and it takes alot, I suggest watching BYstorm's channel talking about this idol stage and the instrumental of this stage, it is. mind blowing and it shows how proud they are of their culture
thank yoi very much for this reaction! 💜
I would love to see Adam's and Blaze's reaction this. Especially to the traditional dance
Omg this has kinda been killing me all day as you would say ( COME ON)💜😭
Denise Cross LOL its coming soon 😉See ya in the chat!
16:24 that jimin's fan dance went viral and he even received an award from A Cultural Conservation Society. u might like to watch some of 3j dances. they are good.
NICE!
Legendary Performance!! 💜🔥🔥
For real the Korean culture is so amazing and beautiful
They incorporated the Gwara Gwara dance move in Idol to pay homage to South African culture too :)
You guys should know. The seats were shaking like earthquake which is other idols were sitting on because of this BTS's historic IDOL performance.
When bts is on award show...they treat it as they concert...
I love how this last song is all about their culture. Most of the people performing are told to lip sync a these award shows but they refuse.
I'm excited this is one of their best performances😍💜
This is truly my favourite perfomance...
They are not Bathrobes...they are Traditional Korean Attire called Hanbok....
By the way, this stage cost about $300, 000 (yes USD, not Won). They hired real professional, traditional Korean dancers for it and everything. It was very authentic. Also, the second song, Airplane Part 2, was a recording. They recorded that the day before the show and so the audience were watching and cheering for that while they were preparing for the "Idol" stage.
idk what they said but i felt it😂😂😂same whe i first time listend to them💜💜💜💜
Just for the record, JK was wearing a bathrobe in Airplane part 2. The hanbok robes were worn during the traditional scenes. Keep up the great reactions!
Well if you want to see really good dancing watch their performance in an award show in Japan. OMG! I am sure you will love it.
“Their poses were like the end of dionysus do you remember that?”
“I ahm ahm no”
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA made me laugh so hard 😂
Sriffin Cruz Lol that’s my brother for ya lol
Finally you've seen this masterpiece!
Yesss ! Iconic performance! Now let me watch this reaction 🥰🥰🥰
This is really my first time waiting for you. And even waiting PATIENTLY. Why? Because I'm so excited you're finally going to react to this
Please watch Jungkook's GCF video of his, Jimin and J-Hopes' practice for this performance. It's amazing.
Another great video to watch is DKDKTV! They explain Ddaeng and the pure genius of Namjoon and Yoongi and word play! These guys are smart! They are all gifted, but I think there are three geniuses in BTS all with different aptitude’s!
where's your brother adam? he should also watch this too.. i always love his reaction specially in this episode.. i know he will blow his mind in this epic performance...
This is an Award show but it looks like their own concert lmao 😂, seeing the screams of ARMY and their 1000% totality performance make me goosebumps 🥺
please watch IDOL MV and the EXPLANATION VIDEO together with Mika(hope I spelled her name correctly)?~
There is a channel called ByStorm and it has a video that goes into all the cultural significance of Idol... it's kind of long so you may not want it for a reaction but it is interesting if you're interested!
Also... you should get familiar with fanchants! They're so much a part of the fun of being in the crowd. Try searching any BTS song that has a live performance and the word 'fanchant' and you'll see how it works! Thanks for checking this out, it remains my favorite live stage performance!
Amazing performances, never get tired of watching them.
so beautiful!!!!!!!! i can’t stop loving bts!!!
The intro to the IDOL song were some of their traditional Korean dance the first with Jhope were traditional drum performers they hired actual performers for the part with the stuff animals and the female drummers
Melon was good but I think their mama performance was really good
OMG! I like your shirt! ATARI! I remember that game growing up. We have that game at home and then Nintendo came out. Anyway yes that was last years performance and they did spend a fortune on that. It’s the “ber”months and looking forward on their mama and melon music awards performances this year and billboards next year. I am sad though coz Jin is going to enter the military service next year which is mandatory to all men in Korea to serve for 20 months. So it will be sometime before we see BTS all together again. Coz 2021 it’s Suga turn, then 2022 it’s Jhope and rm, 2023 v and jimin and 2025 Jungkook. Hoping they would enter all at the same time that way us army won’t wait for too long.😢❤️
I love you guys! And you know what, there's nothing wrong with admitting that you are still learning, we all are. These guys teach us something new almost every day. They are perfection personified.
this is the best. performance. ever. I regret not suggesting this to new army in the past.. this would have gotten them hooked . well then again maybe not, i didnt start with this as an army either, i started with just one music video. if the time is right they will fall down the rabbit hole, i shant rush them
The dances done with the drums fans and scarves are traditional Korean dances with a lot of history. I’m aware you are not familiar with that. Of course these dances were a little modernized for this performance. They made it their mission to show Korean pride in their performance
This is legendary!!!!!! 😍😍😍😍
Nico "What this remind you of?"
Me "Twilight's Valtori"
Music shows in Asia are HUGE...and there are MANY of them. This one was one of the bigger ones equivalent to like the BBMAs or AMAs. The biggest artists get the longest stages to perform multiple numbers. There is an awards season from about November to January. This was the Melon Music Awards, there were 2 MAMA Awards, one in Hong Kong and one in Japan by Mnet, KMAs Korean Music Awards, and the Golden DIsk awards..those are the big ones. obviously everyone wants BTS and when they attend they actually have different performances for EACH show. It's mind blowing. They may sing same songs but with all new staging. You should watch the others. It's really amazing their level of live performance. (Hope you can attend a concert). PS. That final number was performed in traditional Korean outfits not robes. There were a little grumblings by haters that BTS had become too "westernized" abandoning their Korean roots, which I find ridiculous seeing as they sing in English! SO this performance was kinda like an f/u. They performed in Korean outifts, JHope, Jimin and Jungkook performed traditional Korean dances and they had the Korean musician and spinners in the intro. Can't get more Korean. Lol. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! I streamed it live on my big screen tv and it was amazing!
American mindset: "towels " & "bathrobes "
A whole world full of vibrant cultures: awesome traditional dancing!
Lol. You guys! I still love your reactions though! 😁💜
BTS incorporated traditional instruments, dance, and symbolism into IDOL.
Me: (notice the ladies playing drums dancing with jhope, notice them, notice them, aaahhh 😒)
Me: (notice the traditional men dancers doing the same fly-round-about jump as in Idol, notice, notice, aaaah)
🤣😂💜😁🤗
one of my favorite performance. thank you
"Ooooooh shit" is often my reaction when watching Jimin dance, too
OMG IM SO EXCITED YESSSSS
I can’t wait to see your reaction. That performance was epic!
Jimin idol cute 💗😻
If you look at the mirror at 1:58 if you read it from left to right and bottom to top it says “I show not only your true side but also your fake side”
Omg, love the Atari shirt....I actually forgot about that, so nostalgic....
The part where you mentioned the crowd knows the lyrics ,yes, however they were doing the fan chant.kpop groups have fanchants of all the members real names and it’s chanted In between pauses throughout the song ,so for bts when you hear chants they’re actually saying Kim Namjoon ,Kim Seokjin,Min Yoongi,Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin,Kim Taehyung ,Jeon Jungkook BTS! ,it always goes leader first then everyone else by age ,oldest to youngest
Mar Mar Oh nice! Had no idea
WhatchaGot2Say no problem ! Usually when you hear the crowd chanting in sync but the artists aren’t singing ,they’re doing the fan chant ,sometimes ,or many times it’s also in the very beginning of the song ,fanchants can be done many times throughout the song but if pauses are too short ,army will yell out BTS!BTS! Instead of all the members names .if you go back to live performances of any group you will probably notice the fanchants ! It goes by pretty fast haha
Ayyyyyyyeee our guy is back
Awesome as usual...thanks and i look forward to the next. Check outq Come back home live from the 4th muster
They are wearing Korean Traditional Clothes That call HanBok(Correct me if I'm Wrong)Hanbok is korean traditional clothes and alsi you can see in Bts idol a Colourfull Tiger(Correct me if i wrong)You also can see Traditional Dance in Bts Dancing...Like a Squirt dance😂😂😂(Don't know what that supposed to call)It was a traditional dance✌✌✌✌✌
