Thank you for this guide. Was doing well on Syndra the last season but I lost my confidence with her due to having a bad WR this split and playing mostly Hwei and having a much better time with it. I'm super happy to lean from this amazing video and get my gameplay back into shape and hopefully even beyond that. Your laning strategies against certain champions were truely eye opening for me. Nooo I can't believe it !! The tip at 45:35 is phenomenal. I always thought you had to guess the direction of the ball and never knew there was an indicator ! As a syndra noob and a generally low elo player, I watched this video and played a couple games syndra. absolutely destroyed my lane opponents. I didn't even need to utilize most of your tips in this video, i just focused on the slow push and landing my QE when the enemy went for minions. It works every time

Great Guide! Hit masters last season on a Syndra/Panth climb and looking to do that again now. I didnt see it mentioned but her backwards W being faster is a great tip to add! Thanks Coach! The timing on this video was impeccable as I recently added Syndra to my champion pool & watched your old video with Curtis last week haha. Quick question regarding ward choice in mid game - do you always default to blue trinket or will you take sweeper when ahead to be a bit more aggressive / look for picks? I find I'm way too vulnerable in side lanes without the blue trinket however really like having that sweeper to dictate fog of war. What do you think is optimal? Watching your content has helped me climb from P4 to E3 in the space of 2 weeks, thanks so much for providing these amazing guides.

What an amazing guide - especially as I saw your 1-year-old guide on Coach Curtis‘ channel just days ago! I do have two very brief questions (a couple more, actually, but I don‘t want to over-bother you): 1. Is there any world where you would consider starting with sapphire crystal to get to Lost Chapter even sooner (as your primary goals are getting stacks and obtaining LS)? Of course, you lose a considerable amount of damage and tankiness, I imagine, but are there matchups/situations that you deem so safe that it is worth the risk? 2., and more generally - what is the decision tree when it comes to buying refillable? Thanks again for the great guide and overall the work you do, will make sure to come back to it as often as needed and possible!
Appreciate it! 1) personally i want dorans every game, since the dorans stat buffs the items are too good not to buy :) 2) same with refil i get them every game since the items value is just too high
its incredible how fast we can ruin the game without taking advantage of our spikes. I was playing so much scaling-syndra last season with first strike and so that change to aery and comet just made me go from plat to silver 😆... but now i feel that i understand the champ so much better. Hey Coach Tim, awesome guide! I've got a question. I've been struggling a lot in midgames where the enemy team specifically has a fed jungler assassin like Rengar, for example. Recently, I was quite ahead, but I got one shot at the beginning of two teamfights and ended up losing. I think that my positioning might be the problem, but I'm also thinking that maybe I should be buying an early Zhonya's in this kind of situation. What are your thoughts on this? Thank you!
hmmm there can be many ways to go about it. in an ideal world we dont get zhonyas until 3rd item since it heavily reduces our damage output. So first i would look at positioning primarily. You gotta keep in mind aswell not ALL games are winable ;)

Yup we play FS and aim to scale, if we can get a 10-15 CS lead we are really happy since we can make it hard for her to teamfight later with our nuke in R
Syndra is such a strong champ, I picked her up and instantly carried almost every game. After so much time wasted on top lane with riven, ive finally found a champ im just naturly good at.
Magical Footwear gold value is 470 gold if you think about the 10 extra MS which i think is very important on syndra and you can also sit on magial footwear and not ugprade sometimes.

I played against a 600lp syndra main that took phaserush boneplating vs me (as ekko) when my jungle pairing was something with a slow as well. It was really impossible to kill her since she could ignore my Q slow, W follow up couldnt land, my jungler couldn't really gank her. What you can do vs Ekko as well is starting W and denying him the hail of blades trade on lv1, which really fucks him up since he can't really farm and u get control of the lane early
2:00 - Syndra has a lot of matchups that range from unplayable to almost unplayable. Fizz, Ekko, Akali, Brand, Jayce, Azir, Orianna, Xerath, Taliyah, naafiri, ...
@@fernandobreder4220 Quite easy, xerath has very long cooldowns compared to yours. So yes youre going to get poked here and there but you should gain the advantage on the wave and keep the tempo of the lane high
I’ve come to realize how reliant I’ve become on the summoner cd reduction rune on control mages, for the flash and also for the teleport cd. Gotta play more disciplined and reset better in order to take advantage of some of these other runes
playing Syndra since release, thats best vid bout this champion on the platform :D have a question about runes, do u still play first strike after nerfs? i would go for it 100% times, just heard so much comments that it is a dead rune :?
thanks a lot! i used to run First strike every game before the enrfs. But rn the other runes usually outshine it. The only time i still run FS is into dshield users!

What do you think about going Horizon Focus as a secondary item? It has ability haste, passive that increases damage dealt by 10%, costs 2700 and is much easier to buy than rabadon

Hey mate electro is an option but not one i recommend since Syndra is a 2 ability rotating champion and electrocute requires 3 hits to proc so it doesnt synergise too well imo
@@CoachMysterias Thank you for your insight, u said that she is a 2 combo but in early game in most of your combos u weaved an aa so you can still proc it. Btw i feel like focus horizon can be a decent 2nd item what are your thoughts about it?
With the recent buffs to stromsurge I see many pros building it. What are your thoughts? And I see people like midking and caps build rabadons first item, is it viable?
How good is Horizon Focus 2nd (assuming you don't need banshees/zhonyas) if you are not going to dcap 2nd? It seems like a nice cheap AP and AH stick with a good passive that is easy to constantly proc for Syndra (if I am not mistaken, the % dmg passive doesn't have a CD; only the AOE reveal one does). What do you think?
hey, it's such a small thing but i just wanna clear this up; do you think cut down is still the best option after the nerf this patch? i think poke damage has more value than execution damage especially as syndra has a built in execute, but i just want to ask so i can make the most informed decision

Thats true! the other reason why SF second is not recommend is for build variability. SF forces us into another offensive item third otherwise we will lack damage
One problem I have been running into is mid game is I feel like I am constantly hovering around my team instead of catching waves due to 2 parts, fear of them fighting without me/inting it away while im pushing and also because it does feel right sometimes since it f eels like Syndra needs to be at fights early rather than later. So I feel like I convince myself that losing out on the gold from the wave is worth since im protecting team. Any thoughts?
i think in the mid game generally its okay to be prioritzing yourself and your own farm and communicate our intentions with our team. Sometimes they will die thats okay! but once lategame starts running around +- min 30 you have to start prioritzing your team since death timers get too long and one death can end the game
Naafiri is a defensive matchup since she can jump onto you from long range. We have to be using our E mainly reactive in this one because if she ever gets onto us we get stomped
Hob is a bit similar to Fizz, you really need to play around your boneplating. When its up he deals 0 damage since HOB doesnt give any damage besides the autos. Try to tether out his E range and if he ever get on to you i recommend using E reactively. aslong as he doesnt teleport over your E you should be fine
Does this work on someone who doesn't have a lot of exeprince on her/ mages in general. I main akali but I am not climbing and think I might need to change champs. So does the experince matter?

One thing I have already noticed from my mistake is I was playing too many champs to get short term sucsess and not focusing on champion mastery. Didnt realize how importaint it was till listening to Broken By Consept and you.
Anivia is incredible easy dude. You absolutely annihilate her pre 6 and post 6 all you have to do is play off your better waveclear and W-Q rotations the only way you can lose that matchup is by inting your E's in lane
@@CoachMysterias no, she's not. incredibly easy is akali or yasuo - they literally can't do anything to you rather then some early push. No idea why you spent so much time on those. The problems with anivia - first, she is unkillable for you. Any anivia that knows her stuff can play as aggressive as she wants. Often with ignite. Second, after 6 she has infinite menace waveclear meaning she's not only unkilable but always first to push and move . pre-6 she is manageable(though if u miss one E she will walk up to you, wall and statcheck you where you 100% lose lane/flash) but after 6 she just oneshots you if you ever walk into the wall range. You probably haven't played that much against decent/aggressive anivia players. Not sure what "annihilate" means for you to a champion that on any cs can just walk up to you, wall into q and stupidly statcheck you to death, while also being unkillable for you. As for range and trades: her wall is 1000 range, her q is 1100 range. her Q is 12 seconds, ur E is 17 seconds. Her E is 4(!) seconds, ur Q is 7 seconds. She doubles your health and your mana. The problem is ur low mobility and sustain, where's anivia could be easy for characters with with any jumps which can dodge the wall. One thing I got from the vid is maybe trying resolve against her, that was really cool idea against heavy statcheckers that you have shown. It would be interesting to see some examples against good anivia mains both for early and midgame, really curious to see.

I played against a 600lp syndra main that took phaserush boneplating vs me (as ekko) when my jungle pairing was something with a slow as well. It was really impossible to kill her since she could ignore my Q slow, W follow up couldnt land, my jungler couldn't really gank her. What you can do vs Ekko as well is starting W and denying him the hail of blades trade on lv1, which really fucks him up since he can't really farm and u get control of the lane early

@@fernandobreder4220 Quite easy, xerath has very long cooldowns compared to yours. So yes youre going to get poked here and there but you should gain the advantage on the wave and keep the tempo of the lane high

I’ve come to realize how reliant I’ve become on the summoner cd reduction rune on control mages, for the flash and also for the teleport cd. Gotta play more disciplined and reset better in order to take advantage of some of these other runes

What do you think about going Horizon Focus as a secondary item? It has ability haste, passive that increases damage dealt by 10%, costs 2700 and is much easier to buy than rabadon

Hey mate electro is an option but not one i recommend since Syndra is a 2 ability rotating champion and electrocute requires 3 hits to proc so it doesnt synergise too well imo

hey, it's such a small thing but i just wanna clear this up; do you think cut down is still the best option after the nerf this patch? i think poke damage has more value than execution damage especially as syndra has a built in execute, but i just want to ask so i can make the most informed decision

Thats true! the other reason why SF second is not recommend is for build variability. SF forces us into another offensive item third otherwise we will lack damage

One problem I have been running into is mid game is I feel like I am constantly hovering around my team instead of catching waves due to 2 parts, fear of them fighting without me/inting it away while im pushing and also because it does feel right sometimes since it f eels like Syndra needs to be at fights early rather than later. So I feel like I convince myself that losing out on the gold from the wave is worth since im protecting team. Any thoughts?
i think in the mid game generally its okay to be prioritzing yourself and your own farm and communicate our intentions with our team. Sometimes they will die thats okay! but once lategame starts running around +- min 30 you have to start prioritzing your team since death timers get too long and one death can end the game
its a shame you didnt include the clip of showmaker hitting 15/18 qs against humanoid in early lane. incredible showcasing of syndra mechanics.

Naafiri is a defensive matchup since she can jump onto you from long range. We have to be using our E mainly reactive in this one because if she ever gets onto us we get stomped

Can you please explain how to play vs hob ekko? Because a lot of ekko players run this vs syndra and perma jump on you with E lvl 1
Hob is a bit similar to Fizz, you really need to play around your boneplating. When its up he deals 0 damage since HOB doesnt give any damage besides the autos. Try to tether out his E range and if he ever get on to you i recommend using E reactively. aslong as he doesnt teleport over your E you should be fine

Anivia is incredible easy dude. You absolutely annihilate her pre 6 and post 6 all you have to do is play off your better waveclear and W-Q rotations the only way you can lose that matchup is by inting your E's in lane

incredibly easy is akali or yasuo - they literally can't do anything to you rather then some early push.
No idea why you spent so much time on those.
The problems with anivia - first, she is unkillable for you. Any anivia that knows her stuff can play as aggressive as she wants. Often with ignite. Second, after 6 she has infinite menace waveclear meaning she's not only unkilable but always first to push and move .
pre-6 she is manageable(though if u miss one E she will walk up to you, wall and statcheck you where you 100% lose lane/flash) but after 6 she just oneshots you if you ever walk into the wall range. You probably haven't played that much against decent/aggressive anivia players.
Not sure what "annihilate" means for you to a champion that on any cs can just walk up to you, wall into q and stupidly statcheck you to death, while also being unkillable for you.
As for range and trades: her wall is 1000 range, her q is 1100 range.
her Q is 12 seconds, ur E is 17 seconds. Her E is 4(!) seconds, ur Q is 7 seconds. She doubles your health and your mana.
The problem is ur low mobility and sustain, where's anivia could be easy for characters with with any jumps which can dodge the wall.
One thing I got from the vid is maybe trying resolve against her, that was really cool idea against heavy statcheckers that you have shown.
It would be interesting to see some examples against good anivia mains both for early and midgame, really curious to see.
