      It's being said all over that SX is dying. Sponsors and factories are pulling money left and right. Everyone is blaming this new generation of riders who do not want to 'work' and put in the effort, they refuse to do outdoors which limits exposure and kills the dollars. It's a shame

      American Suzuki filed for bankruptcy in 2012. Suzuki didn't have a 2010 model or money to support any 250 programs or riders until the last few years. I think Alex Martin was the first rider on a Suzuki 250 again. JGR hasn't really had any success with anyone I can remember and there's not much to gain for sponsors. I don't think anyone available to sign is going to win enough to help bring in big sponsors for them. Maybe Musquin will help get them noticed if the bikes can be competitive enough.

      Arthur Draper Agreed and more importantly when you make bikes the market wants, committ properly to race programs and teams you can build a successful brand that actually sells more off road bikes than any other manufacturer, 20 even 10 years ago that would have been laughed at, plus they did it during some of the most difficult economic times. 2 places you can’t hide your leadership, Sales and Racing, it says allot about the direction of both companies!
      I feel for teams like JGR trying to be loyal, support a brand invest behind that then struggle, I hope it works out for them, but this imo does not help improve the perception of Suzuki in the market.

    WEEGE great video! I'm glad we have media fixtures in our sport such as yourself being proactive in the off time to bring exposure to situations like this. Even though you look like you had to drag yourself off some vacation beach where the beer is plentiful, you set that all aside for first class coverage of our sport. We need Suzuki in the game as the sport grows and it would be a shame to loose a brand (even though its not 100% factory) at this point as it continues to gain popularity. Weege I know these teams keep figures close to the chest but I think it would be a good segment for fans or even an article breaking down the financial needs of a team to go racing for the year. Even though these teams have grade A negotiation personal and marketing professionals there seems like theres got to me more avenues to draw funding and sponsorships to the sport. There is far to many riders that deserve factory support that never get the chance and I believe that stifles the growth. I'm rapping of nothing new here but it seems there could be ways to expand at this juncture instead of downsizing. Stock Factory classes, maybe crowdfunding idk just throwing stuff out. Heck lobby DraftKings to sponsor and bring Motorcylce racing to the DFS world like nascar. If people fan make money off Moto fantasy teams it could only draw more viewers.

    Perhaps they could try GNCC's or a hare scramble series, since most people who race those don't get team support unless you are in the pro classes, so they could easily get younger and amatuer riders

    I love Suzuki but it really is hard to feel sorry for them when their 450 bike is always last place in every shootout. They also need to sign 1 big name rider to start winning again.

    • @jdock694
      @jdock694 5 лет назад

      Petrodrol don't always trust shootouts. Remember shootouts are opinions. One tester may be brand loyal so naturally they will give their bike the nod because they are used to it. I never trust shootouts.

    If Suzuki pull out of MX while blowing tens of millions of dollars on MotoGP and still expects people to buy their already outdated dirt bikes, they're nuts. Just shut down the dirt bike manufacturing side if you won't support the sport. I appreciate JGR they've always been a classy organization and I hope the best for them. We need Suzuki and JGR in the sport.

    I suspect the JGR Team parting ways with Yamaha under not so friendly terms has something to do with sponsors not wanting to be apart of the team. Add in the fact of Suzuki's non existent R&D department for the dirt bike line and the team riding those toads has the sponsors concerned. IMO, if they were on any other brand they would be all set for 2020.

    Suzuki is realistic with the market.... dirts bikes are going in a direction thats not sustainable for the average rider... its unaffordable... they know the epa is eventually going to faze them out and theres no need to ride the sinkingship....They do fine globally...
