Not bad days to be a Dane and a cycling fan. One magnificent Grand Depart that had everybody in awe, one week with Danish polka dots, and then two Danish mountain stage wins in two days. And a Dane in yellow to boot. And we are just halfway through the show. But I sympathise with Warren Barguil. I think he and the French deserved this one, but if you bonk, you bonk. So much things to say about this incredible stage, probably the best I've ever seen on the Tour de France ! I would highlight those : 1. So glad to see Quintana back on track, he made such a huge race 2. WvA is the most epic green jersey I've ever seen. The last similar one I can remember was Sean Kelly, but even him wasn't able to turn on attack mode every day of the Tour 3. Jumbo's tactic was eventually successful. This his how to do to win a tour (if they do) : attack the opponent as many times as possible, and sacrifice wisely your men in order to do so. INEOS has a lot to learn about this, with their poor static defensive stance

First it was the weakening UAE team and what A LOT of people don't realize is that Pogi has a weakness and that is the HEAT!!! There is no way this works if Pog doesn't view Roglic as a threat, which is why Roglic can only play this card once and bury himself this hard attacking. He can still put in huge pulls on the front (like when he blew the lead group in half today on Alpe) for Jonas but he wont get chased by Pog anymore I don't think, so he had to spend way more energy than he had and sacrifice his own race to get that energy out of Pog in return. He's known he's had a target on his back all tour and he's handled it well. Watched an interview with him and he said that he tries to stay friends with everyone off the bike, a race is just a race. If it wasn't for his previous two victories I'd probably be rooting for him this year.
What an exciting stage. Now defend it to Paris, Vingegaard. Let's go!

What a race by Vingegaard. He must be on some 'juice'
At least he got the highest point prize for crossing Col du Galibier first.
The highest point in Denmark is 170 meters, and thus we always cycle in thick air. So where the heck did those great climbers come from?
Congrats our good neighbours, you guys are tough 🇸🇪🇩🇰💪
@@nataneley Tack! But concerning Paris-Roubaix, it's still Sweden: 1, Denmark: 0. And as it being my all-time favourite race, that stings a little. But Magnus Bäckstedt did a super ride when he won so many years ago now. Well, at least it was a Scandinavian victory.
Well Danish cycling has a huge history of doping so
@@petesmart1983 Had. Just like the rest of the professional peloton. Remember Pantani and Armstrong? They wore yellow, too.
But still, cycling is at the bottom of the top ten most doped sports, there hasn't been a positive doping test in the pro peloton for more than two years, and apparently, there's a new and negative view on doping in the pro peloton.
Besides, cycling is one of the most doping-tested sports, so just imagine the numbers if soccer players were tested just as often.
Recently, Rafael Nadal won the French Open with daily pain-killing injections in his left foot. Under UCI rules such injections would have banned a pro cyclist from competing for a week after each injection.
So please, don't forget the context.

So much things to say about this incredible stage, probably the best I've ever seen on the Tour de France ! I would highlight those :
1. So glad to see Quintana back on track, he made such a huge race
2. WvA is the most epic green jersey I've ever seen. The last similar one I can remember was Sean Kelly, but even him wasn't able to turn on attack mode every day of the Tour
3. Jumbo's tactic was eventually successful. This his how to do to win a tour (if they do) : attack the opponent as many times as possible, and sacrifice wisely your men in order to do so. INEOS has a lot to learn about this, with their poor static defensive stance
🤤That's a ludicrous statement. Ineos is the MOST tactical and patient team in the sport. They just don't have the strength and cohesive team that they had with Froome. Ineos has nothing to learn from TJV in the "tactics" dept

I predicted Vingegaard to win this TDF because he is the ONLY person to ever drop Pogi, like you said on Ventoux last year. This stage was executed with such tactical precision and strength. I knew what TJV needed to do and I saw this stage and knew that Pogi would be put under pressure like NEVER before but there were TWO other things that REALLY helped TJV today. First it was the weakening UAE team and what A LOT of people don't realize is that Pogi has a weakness and that is the HEAT!!! When I saw the temp at almost 90° today combined with a weakened UAE team and this BEAST of a stage I KNEW Vingegaard was going to gain time on Pogi but I NEVER expected to see racing like this.

Wait! We're not done just yet
What a team player Roglic was here.
Can't wait for the 40 min highlights to come out
NBC Sports has a 1 hour recap of this stage. Usually it's 30-40 mins but today was INCREDIBLE and they did 1 hour recap. Check it out. I come here for the conversation NOT the highlights
Epic epic stage. Watch this when i need some cycling motivation
Nairo 🇨🇴 represents Latin America! Love from Belize bro!🇧🇿 Vingegaard and his team did one hell of a ride too!
Pogacar bad tactics of attacking too early and yet he has no good team, mistakes are paid off here.
Congs Vingergaard
Pog rode way to aggressively ot seems. He can be more steady instead of max out of the saddle all the time. He surely learnt a massive lesson today or is this the death of The Pog?
It was the perfect storm that took Pogi down today. The weakening of UAE, the strength and tactics of TJV, the BEAST of a stage AND what A LOT of people don't realize is that Pogi has a weakness and that is the HEAT!! When I saw temps near 90° I knew it was trouble for Pogi today considering the other factors i just mentioned.
That was amazing!!
WOW Pocagar is human, great race from Jumbo .
I'm feeling a bit nostalgic to see the old guys like bardet, quintana and thomas riding like true protagonists. This reminded my firts tours on 2013, 2014. This year tour couldn't be better
Thanks for podting!
Fantastic day- very exciting racing. Incredibly grueling course. Will the leader after the Alps hold until Paris? I think yes.
Vingegaard is too strong!! He was my pick for the OVERALL WIN this TDF before it even started. He's ready to show the team, himself and THE WORLD that he is TJV new GC!!
Jonas is made of otherworldly stuff - an epic ride - it took his whole team though to crack Pogacar. What a stage!
Great to see Quintana doing so well. He can take the yellow jersey on Alp D'Huez.
and lose 30 mins in a TT
@@wyomingar EXACTLY! 😂
Epic Vingo, epic!
This Jumbo team may be the best we have seen in a Tour.
Unfortunate that UAE lost two due to Covid, I think Tadej would have still lost the stage, but the damage control would have been better had he had all 7 teammates.
Fantastic racing by Jumbo!
Just 5 years ago, Jonas Vingegaard was working in a fish factory in Denmark, and look at him now!!!! 🇩🇰
Follow your dreams, you don’t know how far you could go 🙌🏼☺️🇩🇰❤️
The race ain't over yet
