I'm very interested to see how this impacts the economy over the next few years. Trains have massive benefits and impact basically everything. Less traffic on the roads increases road safety, decreasing commute time, allowing businesses to operate more efficiently positively, impacting the economy. Low income workers can spend wayyy less on transport, which in some cases could improve living standards. Trains generally bring economic prosperity too
Hi there. I am the one who sent you an email several weeks ago telling you about the new line and I am glad you acted on your word! Also interesting to see that the train is using the up line! And I guess the overhead lines have not been properly fixed yet because originally, that train departs at Platform 5. And I can now see why it was empty, Westbury, Florida, Roodepoort and Krugersdorp are the busiest stations on this route, so once there are operational, you will start to see numbers on these trains. I can't wait to get on this train again. Interesting to note is the length of Platform at Florida, its very long because traditionally, the Shosholoza Meyl would stop there. Before Covid, it was stopping at Krugersdorp on its way to Florida. I wish your next ride on this route would be with me, I have so much information on the route, stations, nearby towns etc

Thanks for the Video. I must say PRASA is moving in the right direction. They recently upgraded the Cape Town Station. The Southern line from CPT to Fishoek is my best trip with memorial views. Inorder for the country to prosper, we need our rail lines fixed which is the veins to connect to the heart of our cities.
Florida, my first home town……Joburg is on the mend…brilliant man…It’s looking good…The country needs a good rail system.
The country had a fully functional rail network 3 decades ago.

Thank you so much for this video. Brings back so many memories for me. I remember I used to ride that particular line for 3 uninterrupted solid years. I could name every station from Johannesburg right to Randfontein. Today I am a millionaire, I no longer have to use trains that would sometimes just stop dead on their tracks for hours without any explanation given.
Black child it is possible. Just because you get to ride on a train today doesn't mean your life is doomed. As a student back in those years I used to do 60% of my studies in a train. You too can do it.

Awesome. You did a video some time back about the condition of some of the stations further on on this line. It will be cool to compare the difference once the train starts running all the way to Roodepoort.

How many trains 🚊do you have in Nigeria. In South Africa, we have Metro Train (Prasa) in 7 metropolitan cities, Gautrain (High Speed Train), Shosholoza Meyl (Long Distances), Rovo Rail (Luxury Trains), Blue Train (Luxury Trains), Premier Classe (middle class Trains), Transnet Trains (Goods / logistics Trains), and upcoming bullet trains (Musina, Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town), I think left few trains
@@youme1414Man, Lagos Metropolitan area has 21 Million (and increasing) residents and just 15 Metro trains operating on 2 routes. If all the Lagos residents wanted to use the train, you would need to fit over 1 MILLION passengers in each train 😂
And also South Africa doesn't have ongoing terrorist wars or an increasing overpopulation problem, like Nigeria.

It's investors money that brought the trains back Prasa and investors sign a railway policy framework in 2022 most of the stations are operating by private investors in partnership with Prasa.anyway nice video man keep updating us with more videos

Trains have batteries underneath even older trains do have back up batteries even without load shedding faults do happen so the batteries help the train to keep moving for a certain period.
