    Good thing I started at midnight. Texas roads were like soup, most roads in Oklahoma were not even cleared whatsoever. I almost lost it more than once, but I am still on all 18 wheels and the shiny side is still shining w/o a scratch.

    All the southern drivers please don’t follow too close between vehicle, and give yourself good distance between you and front vehicles of you so you will have enough time to control and react when the road is slippery.

    Last October 2024, fire and casualty insurance companies increased premiums from $1,789 to $2,198 for reasons that cost of repaired went ups, as well paid salaries increased, and more claims filed.
    Next year, 2026 - will be outrageous for many of us across the nation.

    • @jerrycallo
      @jerrycallo 6 дней назад +2

      They do it because they can convince people that costs have gone up. I just bought a shut off valve that was a couple bucks 2 years ago, ten dollars now. There's no reasonable financial reason for that kind of increase, last I saw we didn't have 500% inflation. Or anywhere near 100% for things that have doubled. Targeted marketing / greed coupled with an "I want" culture.

    3-4 inches of snow and Texas comes to a screeching halt. Windchills in the 20's. LOL I live in Lancaster, PA. We have had wind chills of 15-18 below all week long.

    If authorities can enforce curfews, the Federal and State government can force businesses and daycares/schools to close -- including stores, and shopping centers... to stop this kind of carnage. No one needs to be driving on the highways in these kinds of conditions. I am sure everyone heard the weather warnings and had plenty of time to get supplies and to plan ahead.

    I come from northern Michigan, but lived in Virginia for a while. People that criticize those drivers are clueless. In Virginia when you had a snow storm it was massive because of the cold air coming from the NW hitting the humid air at about freezing. It meant driving on wet ice or deep snow with limited snow removal and salting capability. There are lots of idiots now playing bumper cars because they drive like it's a summer day, not just in areas that get rare storms. Just saying because I know there will be the typical talk about "Oh they don't know how to drive on snow. When I get this freeze thaw my car will literally slide down the driveway after being parked there for several hours the snow starts to melt then it freezes and then when it starts to melt even a little I'm sitting on wet ice. I look out and say "Hey that' not where I left you". i have to shovel and salt, but I cannot park on white. I throw a bunch of salt behind the tires.

    It boggles my mine as to why any one would send out their trucks in such bad weather. Imagine e an 18 wheeler causing so much money, yet the owner would risk the drivers life

    I do not understand why authorities do not stop people from driving, and stop businesses from running in times like this. It causes so much chaos and problems for fire, Emergency, and police, etc. not to mention those that lose their vehicles and/or lives.

    If you have to drive and if you start to skid- put your transmission into neutrai, when you are in drive your rear wheels will move forward which interferes with any attempt to brake. I grew up, learned to drive in NH.
