Great video, such a quick helpful tip since I always tend to do things the long way. Could you help with how to make the edge of the chevron straight (vertically cut straight) on the sides?
Julie Lewis You should be able to just use the selection tool over the chevon once you're done, and just double click on the fill color in your toolbar to change it. If that doesn't work, go to object -> expand appearance first and then try it.
You definitely can, but I haven't found a way to do it as simply as you can in Illustrator. You would have to either draw out the chevron or make a repeating pattern of one in photoshop and do it that way because the zig zag filter in photoshop works in a totally different way.
Hi, first of all thank you for your tutorial, i am trying it, with no luck.... i am on Illustrator CC, in french so i did all the step all is ok, then when i am in the object part i do the option, etc.. etc.. then when i do object/blend at the end i got a suqare or rectangle (i mean between the 2 lins (zizag) all is filled in the plain color lol I tested in CS6 too the same result! Sigh.. but gotta subscribe to your chanel :)
Hmm, well first thanks for subscribing! Can you double check to make sure that all your zig zag lines are only a stroke and don't have a fill? If they have a fill the overlap might be causing that error. Also make sure the blend mode is set to specify steps and not one of the other methods (not sure of the proper French translation for that). Other than that I'm not totally sure what could be causing the issue.
Matt Borchert Hee hee ok i now see where i goofed!! on the blend part i selected the wrong option, so now it's all working! so happy! so much easier and faster than PS :) thank you so much!
Francesca S You could, but the way I did it in this video wouldn't be ideal for a repeating pattern swatch. There are videos out there showing how to do that task specifically. You essentially just make one section of the "v" shape, and then call it out as a repeating section.
That was amazing! Thank you :)

Maggie Ghobrial Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!
Yay thanks! Do you have an easy way to change colors? Like for a rainbow or ombre effect?
Once you have the chevron made, you can use the gradient tool to do that.
