Considering how PS4 controller support varies from game to game on how it works you can go into the steam controller settings and disable xbox controller support to see if it'll keep the prompts consistent. If you have a 3rd party program to make games see the DS4 as a Xbox controller disable that. I'd check on the game myself but I'm not at home and I only have my Xbox controller with me since that tends to be my default for PC. Hope one of those helps out!
Fun Fact, Kiwami 2 uses the same “Dragon” engine that Judgment and Yakuza 6 used, so the fighting style, the amazing physics like breaking stores and furniture, and menus/map will be more reminiscent of those two instead of Kiwami 1 and 0. Yakuza 2 is often regarded as one of the best in the series, so I can’t wait to experience it again with you!
That's good but unfortunately the combat is extremely limited compared to 0 and Kiwami 1. Probably it's weakest part compared to 0 and 1. Only one style that is pretty limited unless you grind it out big time and unlock everything, and even then it's not *that* great. Has some fun stuff buy yeah. Edit: Does it improve in later games like 5-6? I have only played the ones on PC.(like 0 and 1, many styles with tonnes of moves, being able to chain combos between styles and many more things, played 0 for a long time and still hadn't seen all combos and heat moves)
@@HiddenStr3ngth I feel it's the opposite. I think this combat system is a lot more diverse than the one from the PS3 engine. While changing styles in 0, you were still doing the same things. Only faster, or stronger, etc. In this one you can kick someone while they're down for example, co-op heat attacks, and more interaction with the environment.
@@HiddenStr3ngth The style changing was introduced in Ishin (samurai game) and it carried over to 0 and Kiwami. Yakuza 1-5 has always had the same style for Kiryu (the Legend/Dragon style from 0/Kiwami). You could chalk it up story wise to Kiryu not having a defined fighting style yet in the 80's and his styles eventually formed into one later on as he got better (Legend/Dragon style) The theory goes out the window with Kiwami though since they brought back the styles. I guess you could say the amount of prison time he went through made him rusty so he had to fight through Majima x amount of times to get it all back. Yeah... that makes sense. But yeah, technically, I THINK the biggest reason for adding the fighting styles in 0 was that they were going down to two characters. Yakuza 4 and 5 had multiple protagonists. The fighting styles in 0 were heavily influenced by the other protags and had a bunch of the same heat actions too. I guess they didn't want all the heat actions and stuff from previous games to go to waste. Have you ever wondered how Kiryu suddenly becomes a slow hulking brute in Beast style but is somehow much faster than normal in Rush style? Almost like they're different characters right? With Yakuza 6, they started with a clean slate and with a new engine. Kiryu is back to fighting in one style. Kind of different from the old "Dragon Style" but still retains many moves from the other styles. They were going for an all-in-one package here. They brought back multiple styles in Judgment and they exist in Yakuza 7 in the form of 'classes' so I guess the devs missed them too lol
@@HiddenStr3ngth I got a reply notification but it vanished. Just wanted to clarify about kicking opponents who are down. If you're running towards enemy A, while enemy B is lying on the ground, you can now give enemy B a kick as you pass him by without losing much momentum. To my recollection, in previous games you had to stop and commit to the attack. So that made it feel more stiff for me, while in this engine it feels more fluid and natural, for lack of a better term. I didn't recall co-op heat attacks in previous games. Which one had that? And what were your issues with the Dragon engine? Couldn't read the rest of that part of your reply.
Thats why you should do the substories in the yakuza games too. there is ALOT of context through the entire series. For example, the main villain in Kiwami 2 also is part of a sidequest in 0.
i assume you never did go back to do sidequest/side story in Yakuza 0,Kiwami so -in Yakuza 0 you can actually met Daigo as one of the sidequest, Daigo was still young back then, there should be a quest where messenger said one of Dojima family member want to meet Kiryu at Batting Cage and he's not an enemy going there and you'll met Daigo exchange conversation and do some activity with him. -In Yakuza Kiwami you can also met Yayoi Dojima in one of sidequest where someone want to meet Kiryu at where it all first happen, The Dojima Family's Office, there Yayoi Dojima will show up and demanded the answer if Kiryu really kill Sohei Dojima (her husband) or not (and Kiryu would refuse to answer) you fight her bodyguards and Kiryu ask her to wait a bit longer and he'll answer everything.
I'm extremely late for this but in Y0, you can also meet "young" Ryuji Goda beating the shit out of middle schoolers and steal their pants, one of which he intentionally shook down because that kid bullied his classmates.
