I'm always waiting for the latest videos from this channel, @MissOrchidGirl, Thank you for sharing, very useful videos for orchid lovers😊😊
Crayfish story for you: when our children were younger we got a family aquarium with betas (kids were all allergic to fur) and added some local crayfish they caught while camping north of Quebec City. The crawfish seemed to thrive happily for a few days, then they all disappeared! We could not figure out what happened until one day when I was sweeping around the baseboards in the next room, I found their dried out little shells on the floor. We did not know that crayfish CLIMB!! They escaped the aquarium by going up the oxygen tube and out. Poor fellas!
I have lots of jewels and I cut them up (rootless) and stick them in moss with domes and they grow beautifully! They tend to quickly grow these white fuzzy roots
I just stick mine in water, they grow new roots then I repot in houseplant soil and perlite mix
They have Christmas in July in Australia and New Zealand I do believe. The red looks so good with the green leaves because they are complimentary colors. I have a few jewels and I love them. One of mine is stretching too, I need to cut and repot them. I have them in decorative cloche’s. Lovely video. ❤
Beautiful Dani
Lovely jewels 😊
Oh my god. Your sweater is so cuteeeeee!
Love that Sea Turtle. Coincidentally, I just ordered one this evening for my terrarium.
I like your vein pathway.
cool cultivation🌿🌿, thanks for sharing interesting information 👌✨👏
thank you for this, I have gotten some new roots to grow on my lil phal after it got traumatized from our move a couple months ago. I saw a new root peeking out after only 2 days!!!
Thank you! Happy Christmas! Lol!
Wow they are so beautitul and big ♥️
If they were advertised as potted plants, doesn’t that imply roots are present?
I've had my ludisia for several years and love it. I repotted a couple of years ago following our Texas snowmaggedon, and it has done poorly since then. I just don't know what to do with it. Oh, well, I'm just venting. 😭
I have a little Anoectochilus siamensis white center jewel orchid and it was doing really badly after repotting it. The lower leaves turned pale and were dying. I took it out and the roots were dead so I popped it into a little jar of water. I really hope I can get it to reroot as its such a pretty orchid.
Hi, Danny! Thank you for you video, useful! I have the same problem with my Ludisia Discolour, lost all folliage. Untill I understand that it was not rooted 😑
I just got some macodes from a friend. all very small cuttings. no roots. the leaves are curled back but not badly. they are all stretched out as well. They arent in bad shape, but your's were tall as well, very similar form. They were grown in VERY high humidity in a vivarium. We do dart frog vivs with bromeliads and what not. He had them in sphagnum moss only, little to no soil and very wet. IDK if that helps you at all. I spread mine out in 4 or 5 vivariums hoping that theyll take. I put 1 piece in a very small pot with sphag and potting soil under it. Kinda nooby to jewel orchids. If you have a public page that you accept photos I can send you some of my vivariums. New to channel, thanks for the help.
Love the 🐱 shirt!!
Will you do an update video to see how these progress? I was gifted An orchid and found your channel because I want to re-pot it. I'm hooked! 😂
Hello 👋, im struggling to figure out what medium to use do you think i can mix leca and pine bark? Im worried about the ph that they will give for my orchids
I had the same problem with my lusidia... I had a few cuttings that were growing them back but they died on me when I bought another plant that brought something that ate the leaves😣😣
Hi @Missorchidgirl. I broke the spike of my orchid by mistake. What can I do? That spike has flowers on it I put it on water. I hope it will take root in water. Please help me
So if the media is bad and you need to repot the plant, should you rinse the roots off with a final rinse of peroxide maybe? Will that be damaging to the roots or is that OK? I just feel it's a good extra precaution to prevent respreading/growing whatever fungus is contributing to the rotting odor.
What type of soil did you use? The bark does not hold plants/orchids in pot. Thank you
What’s best light?
Danny, please reply can i mix pine bark with Leca? Please i cant find a good medium in my area only leca from ikea and pine bark from amazon
Denny I have a macodes petola have had it for about a year. Now it just don't look good I took it and put it back in glass. Now I hear they like med.light not bright or mine was under a grow light so I have put it in Abt med.light. But I was told plant them only in spag. Moss only. What do u say I
If you have a rootless orchid, how long do you leave the stem and leaves in water to rehydrate the plant? Please help. 😢
I don't have a Jewel Orchid, just a normal Phal that I got from someone who needs help. I don't know exactly how to help her. When I got her, someone had planted her in dirt😢. I unpotted her, cut out all of the rotted roots, cleaned up the stock, and then let her soak a while in peroxide. However, she keeps declining. The leaves are super droopy, the leaves are wrinkled, there are three tiny roots that are barely holding on, and the leaves have a tiny bit of yellow to them. Would honey help this girl or would out make the problems worse?
In this video (and in many others) you mention old potting mixes and old medium as smelling ‘bad’. I know you use that as an indication of when it’s time to repot, as it probably has rotting roots in it etc. What exactly does it smell like? 😆 You are very descriptive of what some of your flowers smell like, but are very general about old potting mixes just smelling terrible. Do they smell moldy? Mildewy? Sulphuric?
Does anyone know if a rootless oncidium will re root after having root rot?
I LOVE your shirt! Where to get it?!?
Me too, I was about to comment on that 😅
@@nenggrace8995I hope she answers!
Dani’s fantasy aquarium world how’s that work for the name of your new aquariums just a suggestion
Hello 🌺🥰💐🌸
Is there an expert that I can FaceTime with so they can guide me in real time on how to care for my orchid? I need help desperately.
The background black T-shirt makes the video not very clear.😅
Your mislabeled orchid looks like an anoectochilus leyli
You are right! Thank you! 🧡
Did you sneak in a pic of yourself finally? 😂
My thoughts exactly
First
It's difficult to properly see the dark-colored plants with a black background.
Same experience with SG, but also some info on Ludisia - the ambrosia looks exactly like the one you have, but the leaves have round tips and it’s mildly fragrant. It’s a COMPLETE mess with the jewels regarding proper tags. I have 10+ types of Ludisia and have completely given up on keeping up with the cultivar names. 🥲
